i know i've said this before but i'm going to say it again because the more i work with geriatric women the stronger i feel about the fact that the only anti-aging that women in their 20s/30s should be obsessed with is building strong bones and muscle mass. that's like the most important thing you can you can do right now to lay a good foundation for healthy aging. you can botox the shit out of your face but that's not going to do anything to save you from dying prematurely from a fatal hip fracture that you can't bounce back from because you didn't do anything to prevent yourself from becoming frail and breakable. like i know that sounds harsh but that is reality for a lot of older women and i don't want that to be you.

One thing in system spaces that's been bothering me lately- namely mostly in CDD system spaces - Is the push of 'alters aren't separate people and you shouldn't call them that' or even straight up 'alters aren't people and you shouldn't call them that'

Like okay, if that's how you see your own system and what is better for you to call or not call them, that's fine. But don't treat your view of your system as universal. Maybe your alters aren't separate people, or aren't people, but we are, and if I can respect how you see your system, I feel it's fair to expect the way I see mine to be respected. I am my own person, the others in my system are their own people. and referring to us that way is what works for us. Trying to say we aren't our own people, or being told that, has been actively harmful to us because of how dehumanizing it felt to us.

Plus, for us, we also have spiritual beliefs that affect how we see our system (link is to a previous post explaining said beliefs & how they affect that)- and just like we would expect the fact that we have a CDD, and how that affects how we see ourselves to be respected, we'd expect that to be respected as well.

Just, in general, it feels like another push with 0 nuance of people who see their system & disorder one way to try to force everyone else to do the same- even though, with disorders like CDDs that are by nature complex and vary greatly in how they present and affect each person, there is very little that is universal, and often, what is helpful to some people may be extremely harmful for others.
