Vanessa looked at the note left by her teammate as she sat up from her infirmary bed after all that had happened the other night.
To My Friends, Please forgive me for what I am about to say. I'm afraid I must take leave for a while. I'm afraid you have seen something in me that I wish I had buried many years ago. I'm afraid... Of many things you may think of me. I'm sorry to worry you. Please, don't look for me. Please know you three mean the world to me.
Eternally Yours, Carmilla
She tightly gripped the note and cursed at herself. “Dammit...” she crumpled the note more. “I’m such a damn fool... What kind of leader am I?” Vanessa stood herself up from the bed, gripping her side still, but oddly enough the wound wasn’t bleeding anymore. She looked down to it and noticed it had been healed. Rather than question how it healed so fast, she got changed out of her hospital gown into her gear and decided she was going to look for Carmilla. They were teammates, she honestly could care less about what the other had done, she just wanted her back at Haven, safe. She left the infirmary.

“You’re right. But I can’t let you and the others put yourselves in danger because of my stupidity.” she stood up. “Don’t go after my father. He will not hesitate to kill any of you. In fact if he even knew you were my teammates, that would just paint a bigger target on your backs.”
Vanessa grit her teeth. “It’s my fight, and I’m not letting you get hurt because of me.” she stated. “You just do your job with the others, protect the citizens. I’ll deal with my father.” why did she suddenly care about them so much? The same people she spent day in and day out berating for their race or support of a race. She didn’t know why, nor did she care. She was going to deal with her father or die trying.

“…” she looked down from where she sat on her bed. Maybe she should have let her father kill her too. Everyone hated her now. At least that’s what she felt.

Vanessa was exhausted, she had just ran through the courtyard frantically after all that had happened... No one was in the courtyard. She looked around and let out a sigh. There was one person she figured she could go to. After asking around, she eventually did find out where Yang was staying.
There was a knocking heard on the door it sounded rather frantic judging by how hard the knocks were. “Yang, please! It’s me, Vanessa! Let me in!” she continued pounding on the door, hoping to get the blonde’s attention. “You were right okay?! Is that what you wanna hear?!”
Yang found herself beginning to question whether or not this girl as actually sane or not, the fact that she just did that was already making her a little bit skeptical. But soon enough she began to slowly look to the Faunus girls and then back to Vanessa.
“I mean…Not all Faunus are bad, I mean I know quite a few cool Faunus. If anything they’re just kinda…different, just because the White Fang is trying to do shit with a revolution doesn’t mean every Faunus is going to be a part of it” The blonde mused as she then began to make her way over to the large castle-looking building.
Of course the blonde didn’t really want to say that Vanessa’s views were wrong. There were Faunus that were terrible, but they were merely bad apples within a barrel of a race that was treated poorly by humans. It was technically humanity’s fault that organizations like the White Fang existed in the first place

“They won’t. Besides, any cops not with him are against him. He’ll probably have them all killed like everyone else he’s going to kill.” she grit her teeth. “I’m going to Lagune street. Don’t follow me.” she warned. “No one else should have to die for me.”
“Do you honestly think the police will take one person’s word for it, Julia?” Vanessa asked her. “Besides, he probably has enough cops under his belt to where that won’t even matter.” she shook her head. “My father is probably going to come for me, and when he does, I’ll just join my mother I suppose…” she looked at her weapons in her hands.

“Alright sure.” Vanessa smiled as she walked along side this girl. “So, you’re here to participate in the tournament, right? I am, but with how my teammates are I doubt we’ll even get passed round one without me carrying the match for my them.”
“I don’t believe I’ve seen you around Haven that much..” she seemed a bit suspicious of this girl’s presence. “But, Haven’s a big school, so I suppose I just haven’t seen you around.” she rolled her eyes. “I think the dormitories are east of here.”

“Julia… What would you do if you found out a cause you dedicated yourself to was nothing more than a lie?” Vanessa asked her. “The FFFR. They’re liars. I watched as my father killed my Mother trying to get to me.” she bit her lip. “I don’t know what to believe anymore. I don’t have a home anymore. And They’re going to Lagune street next to pillage it and blame it on the White Fang.”

“It was all a lie...” she threw down her weapons and her razor. “My father is just some sociopathic asshole.” she explained flatly. “I got mad at everyone disagreeing with me and I ran off to one of those late night FFFR meetings my parents barred me from going to. For good reason too. You know those attacks from the White Fang we’ve been cleaning up after? FFFR.” she held her head. “I don’t know what to believe, or who’s right and who’s wrong... All I know, is that my mother is now dead, my father wants me dead and that they’re going to Lagune Street next.”

Vanessa sat in the courtyard of Haven academy, panting heavily as she had ran quite a lot just to get back to the academy. She felt lied to, betrayed and didn’t even know what to think or feel. She just sat there, frozen in shock...

“…” Vanessa looked at the mysterious woman that had approached her. “Hello?” she looked at her. She was wearing a Haven uniform, yet she felt as if she had never seen this girl before. Her amber eyes seemed almost hypnotic to look at.

The sickening truth(drabble)
Vanessa was outraged, how dare people make accusations against her views. She knew in the very least there was one group she could trust, there were people out there like her that shared her views on faunus, that they were all troublemakers that had to be separated from them.
Vanessa approached the outside of the building the FFFR would typically hold their meetings in. Her parents had always barred her from going to these late night meetings, but no more, she was entering this meeting whether her parents wanted her to or not. She watched as people were let in, they all wore animal masks. She remembered why they did this, it was purely to make their argument that the faunus were nothing more than animals. She slipped on a wolf mask and snuck her way in.
The guard at the entrance gave her a brief look, noting the weapons on her side. “Already armed? Good.” he then let her in. She found that statement odd but nevertheless she continued inside. Inside were a lot of members of the FFFR. She looked around, surprised at how many members were there. “Thank you for showing up tonight!” the loud voice stated. It was a voice that sounded familiar to Vanessa. “No... it couldn’t be...” she bit her lip as her father began speaking and walked up on stage, wearing his lion mask.
“I am happy all of you were able to join us tonight, I even can see some new faces around here.” the man began to pace around. “My wife and I are glad you all are willing to partake in our operation today.” he smiled under his mask as a woman wearing a lioness mask walked up beside him. The woman then pulled up a map on the large screen of the room. It was a map of Mistral and various points. “We’re going to hit Lagune street tonight. Steal everything you see and kill any civilian in sight. We have to make this look as convincing as possible.” the woman stated. as she used a laser pointer to point at it on the map.
No... This wasn’t true.. This had to be some sick prank her teammates fabricated with her parents or something. She refused to believe her parents would do this. They were liars... She knew the White Fang was violent, but attacking innocent civilians regardless of them being human or faunus. This was wrong, she knew it was. “Are we clear?” Vanessa’s mother asked.
It was then she did the unthinkable. “NO!” she yelled aloud as she threw her mask off. “Mom, Dad, how could you?!” she glared at them as they removed their masks. “Vanessa...” the man removed his mask as the other members then turned their attention to her. “We didn’t want you to find out about what we’re doing like this...” her mother looked down. “Oh and what is it that you’re doing?!” she drew out her katars.
“Sweetie please, just let us explain.” her father tried reasoning. “Peaceful protests just aren’t cutting it for getting what we need. If we partake in violent attacks and blame it on the White Fang, then more people will listen, we already have 1 council vote. We just need to get the rest of them on our side.” her mother explained.
“Oh and what of the people you’re killing?” the grip on her weapon tightened. “Sacrifices are necessary for the advancement of us as a species. Besides, we make it more of a point to target areas with a larger faunus population, but with enough humans to claim it wasn’t a racial attack.” her father stated as he reached for his rifle. “I don’t believe this...” Vanessa looked down. “This whole time you lied to me!” she noticed the group around her had suddenly cleared out of the room.
“We’re sorry you had to find out like this, Vanessa. You can still join us.” her mother held out her hand. “...” Vanessa looked away and out the door. “We can’t let you leave until you decide.” her father stood between the door. “And if I say no?” she asked looking to them. “Y-You’ll let me go?” she asked. Her father drew out his rifle and aimed it at her. “You don’t get to say no.” he stated.
“Forest!” her mother tried pulling the rifle away from him. “What’s gotten into you?!” she was now attempting to wrestle the rifle from his hand. “You’re willing to hurt your own flesh and blood?!” she looked at him as he then knocked her to the ground. “It’s for the greater good of our revolution!” he looked at his wife. “I thought you would of all people would understand that, Sephia. That if you’re not with our cause, you’re against it.” he then aimed his rifle at Vanessa again. She was just standing there, not knowing what to believe anymore.
“I won’t let you steal our daughter’s future!” Sephia grabbed the barrel of the rifle and Forrest fired a shot. “MOM!” Vanessa screamed as she saw the shot pierce through her body. “...” Forrest lowered his weapon as Sephia fell to her knees and looked to Vanessa. “Run.” she stated flatly as Russet grit his teeth angrily and aimed his weapon at Vanessa again. “You’re no daughter of mine!” he fired a shot at her as she began running. He then started to make chase after her, however before he could, he found himself held in place. “Sephia, let me go or I won’t get you any help!” he attempted to shoot at Vanessa more. “I won’t let you hurt our baby...” she let go.
Forrest then turned back to her and chuckled a bit. “I know she’s not my child...” he stated as he then showed her a picture of her with a man that was a faunus. “She’s the bastard child of a whore and an animal.” he then aimed his weapon back at Sephia. “How long? How long have you just been waiting?” he glared. “Forrest, please understand that was in the past and I-” it was too late... A shot rang out through the room...
Vanessa was now a good distance away from the building as she panted heavily. Everything she knew was a lie... Her family was no better than the murderers she was complaining about that were in the White Fang. No, this was worse. Her gathering of her thoughts was interrupted when she had heard a shot ring out in the distance. She then started to run again. She was going back to Haven and was actually going talk to her team.
