Police academy Lassiter x Conforth is like......... very goood bc

The rivalry adds to the homosexual tension, obviously

Nick is super jealous of Carlton but he admires him so much because he knows he’s gonna be so successful and a good cop. He doesn’t like to admit it to his face because Carlton is going to act all prideful and snotty about it

Carlton thought Nick was just a competition that he needed to squash until they were doing a track run and he sprained his ankle.

He thought Nick would take this chance to finally come first. Instead he stopped running and helped Carlton get up to finish the race, even though he had no business helping him out. The entire time Nick held Carlton through the tracks, he was acting all grumpy, but Nick didn’t say a word and helped him get through the rest of the race. They both came in last, but it made him see Nick in a different light.

They became partners on training sessions after that, and they quickly became the wonder duo bc they were just so good

Nick found out that he wanted to teach at the academy because of the late night study sessions he had with Carlton. Carlton said that he explains things so much better than their current instructor, and that made him so happy that he almost blushed and Carlton noticed

Nick might secretly have a crush on Carlton now at this point, but he’s never going to act on it bc he doesn’t think Carlton would be into it. He shows his affection through acts of service, helping Carlton out on assignments and projects

Carlton doesn’t know why Nick is all of a sudden so helpful, but he’s gonna take it if it means becoming top of his class. Besides, the guy is kinda cute. like he could make out with the guy if they ever had the right moment because he’s a horny bastard

They graduate and they go on their separate ways. Nick keeps a tab on how Carlton is doing though, because he knows he’s going to be out there doing good stuff

When Nick sees Carlton, who is now a head detective at SBPD, back at the academy with Shawn and Gus, he’s so proud of him. He realizes he missed him a lot but he can’t let it show because it was just a fling, stupid phase he had back in the academy. Besides Carlton is being a snobby jerk again, boasting how he’s the head detective and he’s just an instructor

He redevelops his feelings as they are working together on that case and when they hug at the end, they both realize how much they loved each other’s company and things get a little awkward. Shawn notices the vibe between them and makes his remark, which makes it even more awkward for them
