Narcissa returned his smile. “It was decent, though not as exciting as I would’ve liked. How about yours? And we should talk more often, Evan. I’m certain I must be behind on everything you’ve been up to.”
Evan flashed his cousin a faint smile. “How was your summer, Cissy? It has been a while since the last time we talked.”

She nodded. “Glad to hear it. Yes, the others can be a bit... trying, let’s put it that way. It’s sad, because honestly, once they do start talking, many of them are great people.” Narcissa laughed under her breath when Frank mentioned the sorting. “Yes, you’re right, we’ll likely be missed.” Her eyes widened as he described his own experience. “Oh, how dreadful it must’ve been. No one should go through that. I... I did. I’ve the ambition for it, I suppose, and I couldn’t stand the thought of being the only sister who ended up somewhere else.”
Frank shook his head, another smile creeping onto his lips. “It has never bothered me, I don’t judge people for things as petty as the house they are in, however it’s not easy finding someone from Slytherin who actually wants to have a conversation with you” he shrugged, which was true enough. Nevertheless, if they did want to communicate then he would do so gladly, just like he could with Narcissa, which was extremely refreshing. “I guess we better make our way to the hall then, I always like the sorting, nice to not have to go through that again. I remember during mine and I fell in front of everyone, extremely embarrassing but I guess it prepared everyone from the beginning for how clumsy I am. Did you want to be in Slytherin?”

She leaned against him in his arm and let him lead her away. “Sounds lovely. It’s a bit packed, in here.” When they’d gone a sufficient distance, Narcissa let out a small sigh, glad to be alone with Regulus. “Thank you, I’m glad you’ve faith in me. It’s refreshing. Just waiting for the genes to kick in, where this class is concerned.”
He let her go and just looked at her for a while. Regulus then just put an arm on her shoulders, steering her away from the crowd. “Come, let’s go for a walk…” He told her wanting to spend some time with people who don’t render him crazy. “It’s definitely harder, but you’re a Black, we’re a natural on the subject.” He told her encouragingly.
#chat:regulus#gah i'm so sorry i hate my school's internet connection#i'll have to start sneaking on in class to make it work but it'll be worth it

“I see that.” She let out a short laugh.
“Well. Let’s say I just love myself too much.”

“No, not particularly. Just thought I’d confirm it.”
“Are you really that surprised?”

She listened intently and nodded understanding, recalling being much the same in her own first year. She’d heard all about the wonders of Hogwarts from her sisters and been excited to experience them for herself, but the novelty had worn off around the time the homework had begun to take longer than three hours per night sometime during her third year. “Either we get grumpier or the professors do... they seem to like spreading the misfortune.” Narcissa returned Frank’s smile, and at his next words, she cast a glance over her shoulder. “Fair point. Well, let’s see them try. I’d think they could learn a bit from us, wouldn’t you?” Still, her stomach turned slightly, and she hoped the people of their houses weren’t paying attention. Stupid as it was that the worry was necessary, she didn’t particularly want them to be punished for a conversation.
“I know what you mean, I do rather dislike being around here when everyone is coming back, and of course all of the first years are too excitable. I can’t really blame them though, I was exactly the same when I was in first year” he shrugged, flashing the attractive blonde a gentle smile. “Maybe as we get older, we also get grumpier” Frank laughed softly, but usually he was a bundle of laughs, so maybe he was just tired after the travelling. It felt nice speaking to this girl in particular, because he had always been keen to believe that she was not like the others in her house, and he was rather enjoying their small conversation – it was easier than what he had imagined it may be like. “You should be careful, our houses may have both of our heads for fraternising with the enemy”

She smiled up at him as she pulled back slightly, keeping her arms around him for the moment, as she wasn’t quite prepared to let him go. It seemed like the more people she let go of temporarily, the more she lost permanently like Sirius, and though she knew it was irrational, she was a little afraid to pass up the opportunities she had to hold onto people she cared about. And Regulus was one of her favourite people in the world.
“Thank you so much. I may have to take you up on that, if potions this year will be as hard as people say.”
Regulus savored the embrace. At least he know he’s still alive when Narcissa shows affection like that. There are days when he feels less like human and moments like this proves he’s not just a shell of a man. “Definitely. You know I’m always up for tutoring you in any class yeah?”

#chat:regulus#it's no problem and i'm sorry this took awhile too!#this weekend was insane and i'm so glad to be back at school if that says anything

Would you rather sleep with Dumbledore, or date Filch?
“You know, that’s something I’ve never considered. I’d have to say date Filch, because I could avoid sleeping with him until I found a way out of it. The idea of sleeping with either of them is terrifying.”

[Matter of life and death and you're allowed to save only one between Bellatrix or Andromeda] Who would you choose and why?
“That’s agonizing to think about. I’m not sure I’m capable of answering. But if I really had to… it would probably have to be Bellatrix. She’s saved me from our father more times than I can count, and it might be the only way I could repay her.”
