It's been awhile since I've posted anything on this Tumblr, and I apologize to those who may have been searching around these parts. Things have been happening over at www.neverbeenheard.com, and a recent Mixtape from the lovely Michiel of A Paper Tugboat will lead to an interview post very, very soon. Keep an eye out, and you know... don't you, forget about me - don't don't don't dooon't.
Boston-based music blog, Never Been Heard, was kind enough to ask me to pick some tunes for their Mixtape Monday series. Check it out!

Hey guys, There's been a bit of an update to www.neverbeenheard.com. It's now a blogger based, but fear not if you follow along here as I'll be posting links for you to keep up-to-date. I just posted my the last part of my top albums of 2012, and you can find it here. Also, as you can see above, I made a Spotify playlist so y'all can get with my jams (or just listen to 'em, you know, depending on your mood). Hope 2013 is treating you well so far, and be sure to stay with me as I'm working on more things to share with you.
:) Emily

Top albums: #15 - #6.
As we start 2013, it's easy to get caught up in resolutions and making changes as well as looking forward to anticipated releases coming out over the course of this new year, but I thought I'd do a bit of reminiscing for a few quick posts. It's now time for my list of top albums from 2012. I'm doing things a bit differently this year, I'm sharing my top list in countdown form - so, I decided that I'd share a list of what ended up being #15 - #6 and then have a handful of entries dedicated to #5 - #1. Take some time to take a listen, and do enjoy where my head and heart have been at when it comes to music of good ol' 2012 - here goes nothing:
15. Now, Now - "Threads"
14. Madi Diaz - "Plastic Moon"
13. Punch Brothers - "Who's Feeling Young Now?"
12. Brandi Carlile - "Bear Creek"
11. Tift Merritt - "Traveling Alone"
10. Motion City Soundtrack - "Go"
9. Jenny Owen Youngs - "An Unwavering Band of Light"
8. Right Away, Great Captain! - "The Church of the Good Thief"
7. Ingrid Michaelson - "Human Again"
6. The Gaslight Anthem - "Handwritten"

Another year, another year end-list. I was given the challenge again to figure out my favorite songs from the past twelve months, and of course, I'm not one to say no to this task. You may notice that a couple of the songs on this list have stuck with me from 2011 (and were listed then), but they were officially released over this past year on EPs or otherwise. So, here we go - maybe you've heard some, maybe you've heard none - My year in songs:
"Pyotr" - Bad Books
"Anna Sun" - Walk the Moon
"1904" - The Tallest Man On Earth
"Hard Way Home" - Brandi Carlile
"Red and White and Blue and Gold" - Aoife O'Donovan
"Blood Brothers" - Ingrid Michaelson
"It's Time" - Imagine Dragons
"Strange Attractor" - Animal Kingdom
"Headlights" - Morning Parade
"Loaded Gun" - Tyler Hilton
"Come Back Down (feat. Sara Bareilles)" - Greg Laswell
"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" - Taylor Swift
"Whole Lot to Give" - Ben Sollee
"Heavy Heart" - Madi Diaz
"New York City" - Punch Brothers
"Traveling Alone" - Tift Merritt
"Mulholland Drive" - The Gaslight Anthem
"A Little Too Far" - Man in a Crowd
"Timelines" - Motion City Soundtrack
"Little Numbers" - BOY
"Gimme A Beer" - Diamond Rugs
"Don't Just Sit There" - Lucius
"Stubborn Love" - The Lumineers
"Closer" - Tegan and Sara
"Wake Up" - Jenny Owen Youngs

It's crunch time, lads & ladies, and it all comes down to YOU. "The Files & Fires is a post-rock/ambient instrumental group founded in Connecticut and now based primarily out of New York.  Founding members, Tyler J. Smith and Ian Tait scattered seeds over five years ago for what has now grown in to a well structured and passionate group of musicians with huge potential as a band." You may have stumbled upon this very vague, very intriguing post awhile back - and now you have the chance to help them fund their third release (all of their other music is available for free on their bandcamp currently). As always, anything you can spare helps (believe it), and in return you will be rewarded generously. Click on the photo above or here to learn more about the band and this endeavor.

Here's the scoop for you, lads and ladies in Connecticut and the surrounding areas. Something good is coming your way tomorrow night (Tuesday the 14th), and I hope you're all prepared to take full advantage of it. Some local Connecticut favorites, who have been showcased on this here blog, are opening for a fella who's near and dear to my music loving heart - Kevin Devine. If for some reason you're unable to make it tomorrow night to the Heirloom Arts Theatre (who have some rad shows coming up), be sure to check out Kevin's tour dates as the Danbury show kicks off the Northeast leg to the summer tour he's currently on the road for.

Hello to anyone who may stumble upon this fair blog these days! I figured a good reason to come out of a non-planned hiatus was to ask for your help. As you may realize, being an avid fan of many fantastic groups who tour frequently, it's always a bummer to hear when those bands are having issues on the road. My friends in The Winter Sounds have been touring around in their fair van, The American Dream, who recently decided to crap out on them - leaving them stranded on Maryland and having to cancel some dates on their current tour. We're all hoping you may be able to help, as times are hard and costs are high, but with your help - you can be generously rewarded! Here are a few ways: 1. Old fashioned PayPal: http://www.thewintersounds.com/post/21647373542/our-van-the-american-dream-has-bit-the-dust-and 2. The Seedy Seeds, who they were on tour with, are recording a song that you can purchase off their bandcamp page - all proceeds will go straight to TWS: http://theseedyseeds.bandcamp.com/ 3. And tonight, you can catch the Winter Sounds live in your apartment, at your local coffee shop, on your smartphone, or anywhere else you have Internet and something to use it on. They're performing live on Stage It, and it's a pay what you can performance: http://www.stageit.com/the_winter_sounds/the_winter_sounds_play_tracks_from_their_new_album_runner_to_help_raise_money_to_fix_their_van/9265 I apologize for the lack of hyperlinks, as I guess I'm not fully aware how to use the Tumblr app on my phone too well. I'll try to fix that up later. For now please check these links and the show tonight out - and pass the word along. The more you know, right? Thanks guys, Emily

This is awesome, awesome, awesome, as is the MCS/Trampled by Turtles 7" split - if you can get your hands on a copy, I highly recommend it.
As most of you beloved fans know, we launched our very own record label The Boombox Generation this past fall with the limited edition vinyl 7” release of our cover of Trampled By Turtles “Wait So Long” and their cover of our song “Disappear”.
We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes...
