JANE SHEPARD: I HOPE HELL IS NICE AND WARM WHEN WE GET THERE. imagine jack being able to see hell. ever. he's well aware he'd never experience heaven again, but to be sent to any sort of afterlife would be a miracle. god would never let him die, would never let him pass over, even into the hundred foot flames of the devil's wheelhouse. there's a moment when he thinks about this, and then understands that she's being sarcastic. it's a human trait he's never gotten used to. why adjust to the snark of teasing when he could simply be as blunt as possible, and still have them believe he's joking? really, jack can't win. 'we're not going to hell. we're going to get rid of the body and then forget we know each other,' jack glances down at jane with a blank expression. 'help me with his feet,' @solesoldier.

ETHEL CAIN: I DON'T WANNA KNOW THE DETAILS. 'fine,' the passenger door is closed with a not so gentle slam, jack settling into the seat next to hers, waiting for ethel to drive. her not having the knowledge of his past or where he's come from effected him very little ; in fact, it was probably for the best. strangers could get along without the weight of each other's stories. it's not as if he was interested in her life, either. how she came to be traveling around with blood lust in her eyes. the courtesy of explaining himself was for her benefit alone, but if she had no interest, than he wouldn't bother. 'let's go,' @freezeher.

MASON GREENE: WHY'D YOU PICK ME? 'i didn't,' throughout his hundreds of years on this earth, jack has found little love in his heart. has forgotten, most times, that he has one, at all. it still beats inside of him - that much was clear by the way his body still worked, his legs still moved, his brain still tortured him - but that's all it was good for, keeping him alive ; something jack would stop, if he had any means of doing so. if he had a choice. but he doesn't. jack hasn't had a choice in anything since he killed his brother. and so for mason to think that jack has chosen him, picked him out of the billions of humans roaming the earth right now... no, mason found jack. mason pulled jack back from his own personal hell, the darkness that had taken him over completely, and showed him that living was okay, as long as he had something to live for. even if this mason wasn't exactly the same as the man jack had met all those years ago, it was still the man he found himself loving. when jack looks at mason, he feels a softness that had been previously foreign to him - reserved for the other man only. 'whatever brought us together doesn't need to be questioned,' he holds out a hand for mason to take. 'you're the only good thing that's ever happened to me. that's all you need to know,' @greenelight.

ANNE MULLINS: IF YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING LATER, DINNER'S ON ME. aside from a few of the paranoid ones, jack found most humans to be too trusting. even the guarded few found someone they thought they knew well enough to give their lives and their secrets to. jack thought that was just one of their many weaknesses. anne was cautious because she had to be, but even she decided that jack could be trusted. at least enough to help her safe guard her bar. and to have dinner with. eyes move down to catch her own, standing where he usually stands, with his hands clasped in front of him. previously, he had been scanning the crowd, waiting to forcefully remove someone from the establishment. now his attention was on her, curiosity stifled with a dull stare. 'you want to take me to dinner?' he asks dully, confused by her offer. 'why?' @movemnt.

KAILEE AMORE: DO YOU THINK THEY KNOW? 'yes,' the answer is plain, simple. given with truth, but no concern. the last time jack was truly worried about a human being was when his brother was still alive. now he looks at the three men standing a bit off in the distance, staring at him and the girl with knowing looks that they hoped would penentrate his skin. instead, all it did was irk jack a bit. not enough to allow it to effect him, but enough to glare back in their direction. 'do you feel unsafe?' jack questions down to kailee, unblinking. 'they won't get close enough to hurt you,' @fleuramor.

kindness seemed like a false sense of security. he'd seen humans use it to their advantages, never meaning the gestures that they give from the supposed good places of their hearts, but manipulating others into believing it. jack could read people, and read people well. which is why the genuineness that radiated from magnolia, her gaze on him, the smile she gave, and the all over aura around her, confused him. frustrated him, even, because he didn't understand it. they had just met, and yet she's ready to walk beside him. it didn't make any sense. he kept his distance as they left his apartment, long legs slowing so that she could keep up. 'no,' not often, to her standards. every hundred years or so, when humans started to wonder why their mysterious neighbor wasn't aging. hands find jacket pockets, eyes remain in front of him. 'i don't like to move around,' a secret he's never told anyone, as dull as it is. and why he's made it so readily available to magnolia, he doesn't know. 'i've seen a lot of the world, and it's all the same. moving around doesn't make sense if there's nothing new,' @desafia / cont.
