While this particular photo was shot in New York, I do want to use this post to remember the reality that Ernest Cole showed concerning the Apartheid in South Africa. In an essay written by Cole after his move from SA to the USA, it was evident that he could not escape how his life, experiences and even work opportunities, would always be determined by his race. As he concludes, he would like to, just for one moment, escape and take a deep breath.
