In the harsh light of the Tulpar's corporate construct, the blood on Anya's jumpsuit lifts off, disappearing in a long wisp of crimson mist, fading into the air and becoming nothing.

She looks down at where the bloodstain once was, touching the patch gently.

She thinks for a moment, standing deathly still. If he was a ghost and left behind blood, surely it was connected.

But if the blood wasn't there, then that means the ghost isn't either.

Her eyes widen and she instinctively looks towards the radio.

Is he back?

She sighs, resting her head in her hands, her tone laced in annoyance.

"That title goes to you, I suppose. Not entirely sure he isn't cheating, though... maybe it would be fun to play a game or two with you..."

The radio playing music in the medbay is suddenly overtaken by the sound of static. Then, from the noise, pipes a familiar voice.

“ Testing, testing, one-two-three… this is Daisuke, requesting Captain James or Curly in the cockpit. I don’t know where you guys are, but I heard the radar was acting up and I was wondering if you guys could show me or something? Too many screens in here, they ALL look weird. Sorry for touching your stuff, it’s just super cool. I feel like a spy. Do you guys call Pony Express on this? Should I get a sign off? Over and out. ”

She sits forward in her chair, responding after a moment of silence

"I hear you loud and clear, daisuke, but I think you have the wrong ship, bud"

Anya stands there, staring at the bloodstain on her denim jumpsuit, the redish brown mixing with the navy blue to create a morbidly pretty colour.

Was she sick for thinking so? Was she sick for thinking about how that was one of the last gifts Kaleb gave to her? A stain that might never come out... anya wasn't sure if she wanted it to come out. She wasn't sure of anything anymore.

In the back of her head, all she could hear was the gunshot. It repeated in her head like a skipping record, constantly playing on loop without any ability to stop it.

She didn't mean to get so angry. Why did she have to yell? Especially to him of all people?! Was she just that good at pushing others away? Was she doomed to nothing but failed relationships her entire life?

Did he even really care to begin with?

Mod post because I need to talk about my love for legally blonde and the creative context behind it

Legally Blonde was "years ahead" in its depiction of women (years ahead is in quotes because a lot of pre-code movies touch on a lot of topics that films today can't due to censorship from investors) and I'm here to explain why!

Legally Blonde is packaged, marketed, and seen in the public eye as just another "chic flic", a genre that has been constantly underhanded as "not real cinema" by men in the film space since its creation. The average "chic flic" follows the standard trope of girl falls in love, but legally blonde isn't like that.

At the beginning of the movie, you are introduced to the protagonist, Elle Woods, as she struggles to figure out what to wear for her date with her long-term college boyfriend, Warner huntington III, as she thinks that tonight will be the night that he proposes.

Unfortunately for our leading lady, the night ends with Warner breaking up with her due to the "pressure" his family is putting him under as he gets ready to attend harvard law, one of the top Ivy League colleges. She walks home barefoot and crying as Warner tries to talk to her from the comfort of his car.

From that point on, Elle decides that to win Warner back, she needs to be serious. She needs to get into law school. She furiously studies for the LSAT, creates a video essay for her personal essay section, and gets in. The movie states that she gets in on a "diversity" clause. However, it is shown in the same movie that she is the top of her class in Fashion Merchandising with a perfect GPA, started her own charity, and is president of her sorority, Which makes her a studious girl with a business degree and multiple extracurriculars.

From then on, Elle gets into Harvard and is looked down upon by her peers, not because of anything she does, but because of how she looks and acts. She's a bubbly girl with a love for all things pink and Girly, so how on earth did she get in?! Because she worked her butt off, that's how.

She gets kicked out of her very first lecture because she wasn't aware of the summer reading and ends up getting advice from a random man named emmett (who becomes important later).

She eventually gets invited to a party by a girl named Vivian Kensington, Warners new fiance who is the exact opposite of Elle Woods, and gets told its a costume party.

So, because she has NO REASON NOT TO TRUST HER, she goes to the party in a pink playboy bunny outfit and is immediately riddaculed for it, showing how different she is from her peers.

At the party, Elle confronts Warner and realises that, no matter what she does, says, or wears, she will never be good enough for him. So she gives up trying to impress him, immediately leaves to buy a laptop, and buckles down into her law degree.

From then on, she works her ass off to prove she belongs there, she gets involved in classes, she argues in debates, and she even wins a mock trial with Warner as the opposition. All the while, staying true to herself with her pink outfits and bubbly personality.

She never gives up throughout the entire movie, even when she finds out she was only given her top tier internship because the professor thought she was hot. Sure, she thought about it, but with the help of a support system, she was able to take over the case, win the trial, and graduate top of her class.

The movie barely even contains any romance, with all of the development between emmett and elle happening mostly off-screen. From their interactions, we can tell that emmett cares a lot for elle, but we never once see them kiss, hold hands, or even confess. It isn't until the end of the movie that we find out that they've entered a relationship with emmett planning on proposing after her graduation.

Of course, I'm leaving a lot out, but this post is already long enough, so...

She blinks slowly, feeling the tears build again. Why is it never easy? Why can't she just have a normal life?
