This is what needs to be done by the end of this week for 6th (or 7th) so we can submit a finished version of our film to be played at the degree show and hopefully in London too.

This is the submitted version of ‘Error’.
Obviously, there are loads of elements missing:
2D animations:
water (kitchen kettle)
smoke and fire (car crash)
Loading screens and animations
Sparks off the robot’s arm
Backgrounds:
all done but need to be added
Render:
needs to be done for all CG sections (except the astronaut in the car)
Sound:
So I did the sound and there were some small things missing but nothing major and it was leveled nicely. Then Natasha said she was going to add a few things to it and has completely changed most of it and destroyed the leveling of the voices. She had done this the night/ morning of the hand in so when I heard it there was no chance of changing or altering it as it was at the time to hand it in. For the degree show and London viewing however, I shall be changing and fixing this as Natasha needs to be doing her 2D animations.
Credits:
I like the credits as they are now, they do the job whilst fitting nicely with the tone and visuals of the rest of the film.

they make the gorillaz music videos - they are run by animators whereby the creative outcome is more important than say the financial or growth of the studio. This is the type of company that my friends and I would be making.

These are the lifedrawings that will be included on my website
They show a range of still life skills, from colour and composition, to clothing and quick dynamic poses.

I had teh skype interview
I have no idea how it went. I was super nervous and was probably talking absolute rubbish, and not answering what they were asking very clearly. I asked my friend, who works in business as a head hunter looking for start up tech companies. She said to prepare answers for:
Strengths - Ability to adapt to new situations and art styles.
- Empathy and kindness to others.
Weaknesses - Cant say no to projects, which leads to me getting overwhelmed and stressed --> for example Ba3b unit, taking on three projects - learnt a lot or new skills and organisation improved.
Improvement - Confidence in my work and abilities --> I can be too critical which affects my mental state, making me stressed and then making my work worse.
Recent Group Disagreements + how overcome them - All the damn time, to resolve them, try not to react emotionally or be passive aggressive. Try to talk calmly and with reasons for why you think something should be changed, and listen to what is being said. Most importantly, stay calm.

This is my website.
I am happy with the outcomes of it, I think it looks elegant but some what dark and juvenile due to the blue backgrounds. I do kind of wish I had used a white background as they do look more pristine and sophisticated, but when I tried it looked really awkward and really didn’t work on the Animation page. It also made the other pages look really boring, but maybe if I had played with the composition of the pages, it could have worked and looked better. It would have also been nice to see some animation to act as a ‘welcome to my website’ and ‘look at what I can do’. I will do this over the summer as I will have some more time to focus on smaller elements that will make me a more well rounded animation applicant.

This is the “final” edit for Love Letters. It looks super nice and sweet and I am really proud of how it has turned out.
There are a few little things that could be edited, such as adding a beat before Natasha says “Norwich”, rather than jumping straight in. The market shot also needs addressing as it holds for a little bit, which is unusual and does not happen in any other scene. Other than that, I think that film is well paced and everything flows nicely. Fin has colour graded everything really well to be consistent all the way through, and achieve this idea of a day’s cycle.
After Friday, for the degree show and festivals, we would like to add in one more shot during/ after the credits, of the Blockbusters on Dereham road. For me it is a landmark of Norwich, as it is the only Blockbusters I know still standing, and I walk past it every day. It will work being at the end of the film, and at night as there is always a light on, despite the actual building being a mess and no-one having gone in there for probably years, the light is always on. I think this would also be a nice extra way to round up the film, whilst showing more about our experience in Norwich.

This is just a little last minute test by Fin where the backgrounds are just the colours, with no lines. I actually really like it, but in order to submit this to anything, I think there would need to be a lot of alterations and fixes. The tone that this shows is much more relaxed and suggestive, which I think reflects the tone of the poem more. It shows the lighting much more clearly and actually shows that we have done a pretty good job of painting these scenes. It would be nice to submit this to a festival or competition where this would be suitable, but I think there are some scenes that would need some work in smoothing out the tones.

trailer
This is super short and I think the music with the fades in and out are very dramatic which is comically juxtaposed with the end clip of the office man sobbing and the music rather suddenly gets quieter. Then this just for a moment when the clip with coming soon cuts in. It is a very fast paced trailer which is common with action and sci-fi films, such as Mission Impossible:
youtube
Where it is composed of short sharp clips that look interesting, but actually don’t tell you anything, except for a little taste of the drama to come if you go see the film. This is what I have tried to copy with this trailer, but I have made it more dramatic similar to the Alien Isolation game trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h0cgmvIrZw
I don’t really know how I feel about the trailer. I didn’t spend much time on it, and I think that shows as the timings are not quite perfect. Also, the clips just aren’t rendered or textured so this looks super unprofessional. As well as this, I have rendered this out 3 times and every time it has the black bars around the outside and I cannot figure out why. If we want a trailer for our own self promotion, I think we are going to have to redo this one, but for a work in progress it does the job of stirring intrigue and curiosity of what the film will entail.

Big Up - Final visual edit
This is the final visual edit for Friday, the sounds are a mess but Liam is working on them now. I really like the compositing that Fin has done. It looks really different to what we were each producing during the animation stage and it took a little while to get used to it, but now it really embodies the ‘found-footage’ that Liam has been striving for this entire time. The film is actually really long and I am surprised that we have finished what we set out to do. There is not much of the current outcome that I would change. I want to fix the leads in my close up dog shots, so the line weight fits with the rest of the scene and some of the line work in the final scene is a bit funky and needs smoothing out. Moving forwards, we want to add a scene at the end of Australia, making a joke about how they are upside down and gravity not working has not affected them at all. However, we need to really think about this, and whether or not it is too culturally inappropriate, or if it will be accepted as a joke, as already we have received comments about scientifically inaccurate the film is.

Big Up trailer.... Coming to a screen near you
The trailer is exaggerated of the premise of the film, as none of the actions are that this dramatic and dynamic. This was purely for comedic effect and get teh viewers intrigue.
We have posted it on social media, and so far we have had a lot of er responses....
All publicity if good publicity, right? Either way, El and Liam handled this well and I am glad that the internet hasn’t destroyed this film yet. I think this proves that the trailer works, as it had gotten people talking about the film. Even if it is questioning the entire premise of it, but even we have all done that. I am not slightly scared but also super excited for the reactions of when the film becomes public.

Australia background
I have mainly added some plants making it more accurate with an Australian setting as some plants do live there, and minor shading which is the same in all the other backgrounds. Amy also suggested adding a grill to the front of the car making it more obviously a Ute, this really helped as I was struggling to simply determine what was essential to a Ute.
This is a work in progress background and will not be finished or animated on by Friday. It is just a silly little clip that will go at the end of the credits, and it is a mock of Australia where there is a guy leaning against the Ute, where gravity is obviously working and tumble weed is blowing across the screen, then he says “I don’t know what all the fuss is about”.

Re-texture application
Head visor works much better now, less reflective. Now I shall render out the sequences of the sighing so Amara can composite it in to the spaceship to be edited in to the final edit.
