Photoshoot Planning- Equipment
For equipment, I would probably need;
1. Camera. But which camera would be best for me to shoot my images on? Maybe something I can use easily but also give me my desired finish.
2. Tripod.
3. Lights (Maybe? It depends on the weather/location really.) if I did have lights i would need to check which position would be best for my photo-shoots.
4.Lenses.
5. Spare batteries for camera.
6. Spare memory cards - in-case the memory card I use corrupts itself or just can’t hold no more.

Photoshoot Planning- Kit bag
In my kit bag, I would bring; obviously I can’t forget the camera, tripod, memory cards.
1. pins, tape or clips in-case some bit of clothing broke or tore, to repair it. This would be useful because it could be fixed but add a rugged feel to the image/clothing.
2. Wipes. Just in-case some make-up became messy or I did not like the look of it in the shot. It is just in-case I start taking the images but the tiniest bit of make-up does not really suit the look. Or maybe the front of the camera gets dirty or blurry.
3. Different lenses/batteries. Just in-case the lens you use isn't the best or the batteries for the camera dies.
I basically need to be ready for any problem that may/can arise when I’m taking my photos.

Photo-shoot Planning - Clothing- make up.
I would need futuristic accessories, such as oversized glasses or shiny sliver bags. Which would require some online shopping but also some in-store looking. I would also see what the models have because they may have some clothing/ accessories that would work well with the theme.

I found these glasses while doing a online hunt for some futuristic accessories and I think these would work very well with the futuristic theme as very oversized and almost hiding the eyes. Also the cyclops ones made me think of those films you see set in the future, where they are very alien themed future.

The image above is kinda how I envisioned my theme to be as bold make up with those blocky glasses, is quite a good because you can have amazing make up and everyone will be left in awe when you remove them glasses.
Make up would be slightly exaggerated with bright highlighted cheeks, use of shiny metallic lip-stick. Light coloured eye-shadow to match how the rest looks. But I also think maybe a silver/gold would look nice for some makeup, whether that be for eyeliner or lipstick, both would be good ideas and colours for the theme.

Photoshoot Planning - Models/Poses.
On the model front, I’m not too sure. I might use people I know if I can get them to do it but otherwise I may have to use models that are already familiar with my course.
Poses.
I quite like the idea of the model staring straight ahead/ at the camera- like they are interacting with everyone through the lens. But I also like the turned away, angled body shot.
I would say a little bit candid shots, maybe to make them look more natural. In more natural locations then the studio. This would work well, looking at these shoots below.

Photo-shoot Planning - Styling inspo.
Obviously the styling is a huge part of the shoot, not only is it vital. It is what brings the essence of what you are trying to portray come through.
Looking through ASBO’s instagram, I found a few images which I think look quite amazing in the styling.
This one, I was instantly drawn too. The shimmer of the gold on her face, with the grey jacket. I like the overall consistency of the grey theme. Also like how her eyes stay on the camera, almost looking at the consumer. Tempting them in to look at her shoot.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt5l-aYH9K1/
Looking at other inspirations for the futuristic mood board, I would look at up-close shoots of models faces. Very exaggerated on the make-up. Almost shiny, a lot of highlighter or powder but I have to think of the clothing element.

Puffed forms- a way to combine my two mood-boards together. The blue and the futuristic themes. Portraying the oversized, exaggerated features, not slim fitting or form fitting but over-sizing them

Photo-shoot planning- Location
So for location inspiration, I was thinking either the studio or out in public, maybe against a wall or some graffiti. Somewhere in touch with the essence of ASBO magazine.
I might use the studio because of the different colour background we can us and have used during our practises. This would be useful because if I did follow the futuristic theme, I could use maybe a blue or red back-drop instead because that would compliment it quite well really.
But if I did them photo-shoot outside, it could be on the top of Victoria’s car-park or against a wall backdrop that is located down a side street.

Photo-shoot planning - Theme.
Torn between the oversized theme of blue or the futuristic one. They both have pros and cons to them.
But a way I feel I can combine them is by oversized/puffed clothing because that’s quite futuristic because of the fact the future might not be tailored clothing but more oversized.
I think the image below combines the two mood-boards perfectly. In the photos I think I can layer clothing on-top of one another, giving them that oversized/puffed effect, which may work well but may not at the same time.

But maybe the way i need to style it would need to be more unique with the over layering if I was to do it but I think I might not do the blue overlayering theme as it doesn’t really work with the futuristic theme so I might cut that out and focus fully on the futuristic theme more then the overlayering.

Blue hues
I could not just post my futuristic mood-board without posting this one.
I thought blue because while it is generic, I thought it had relations to street-wear which is ASBO’s calling card.
If I was to follow this mood-board then I would do layering of clothes, like quite oversized/ exaggerated fits because it is quite iconic but also eye-catching as why not layer clothing on-top of one another to make a statement about the future is oversized blue outfits.
Not all fashion would be slim-fitting and defined but something else then what we know.

Tech 2020
The trend that i'm forecasting is Technological/futuristic 2020. The space between real and virtual-life. It will come through to retail spaces and clothing.
Inspired by the bright lights of Tokyo, but also the idea of robots and advanced technology. The future can be seen by make-up trends of iridescent highlighter or metallic lipstick in golds and silver tones.
Fashion trends will become mesh like, with tones of silver. Almost like an android itself, or maybe it could become flashy with signs on the back of jackets. It could become oversized/puffed clothing instead of form fitting outfits, hiding figures.
I feel like it could be inspired by the futuristic films such as blade runner and others with the way fashion/make-up is/was. The makeup is exaggerated but also bold/flashy.

ASBO!
Who are they?
ASBO is a magazine that brings the underground culture to over ground, showcasing what is happening on the streets bi-monthly. ASBO is rebellious and edgy but they turned a term from something so negative to actually something positive.
The magazine focuses on music, fashion, and youth culture. Mostly all their photoshoots are so fashion forward and unique that no two issues are the same with their concepts on the front page.
I mean have you seen their magazines? They are so beautifully put together with the shots, articles. Who would have thought that ASBO had graduates working for them like that is amazing and all the hard work they put in to produce this magazine is fantastic!
Looking at the issue below, this is pretty amazing. The red has an element of mystery but it draws the reader in because the way the background softens to like a peach with the red hoodie. It is so editorial/fashion forward, while still maintaining a streetwear look. But looking at the other issues, they are all creative with the cover. No words covering the image, which means the readers' attention is on the photo not the stories on the inside.
I don’t think ASBO’s front cover needs any writing because of how editorial it looks and feels. All the images look so fresh and street but also they don’t only put human faces on the front cover, the pink issue below is actually an animated girls face that some graduate created and they got featured where everyone can see it.

London Fashion Week.
The fashion shows that goes on every year, that has celebrities, fashion mavens and everyone raving about or wondering what the new looks on the catwalk would be or who the new designers are.
It often gets a lot of publicity because it shows-cases over 250 designers to the world. This could have fashion mavens talking about who you should look out for on the catwalk, or what new trends are shining out.
A few trends that have stood out during the week were;
1. Feathers. The model looks a bit like big bird in the really yellow feathers but that might have been the designers inspiration. But feathers this fashion week was everywhere. Clothing, shoes, accessories but also hair and make-up styling.
Mary Katrantzou.
2. Plaid, almost like 90s nostalgia. Usually when people think of the material, plaid. They think of Burberry with their iconic pattern but also looking back it relates to Scotland as their kilts are plaid material.
Awake
3. A lot of the colour, Red. Many shades of scarlet making it’s presence on different items of different designers. Red is such a vixen colour because of the relationship to seduction. The red stands out though, its so bright and eye-catching.

Cultural Indicators.
Cultural indicators of the time is usually impacted by dominating events, ideas, social groups and attitudes.
A dominating event that could impact the zeitgeist is war, death or global affairs so potentially Brexit could impact on fashion because it is a global affair. This event could make British fashion more patriotic because of the affairs by wearing the national colours of red, white and blue or could divide the fashion world of Britain because the division of staying or going. So it could cause controversial clothing with slogans that express feelings about the event.
Burberry
Another dominating event could is accidental events/ natural disasters such as forest fires, floods, climate change etc. These events could impact fashion by creating more eco-conscious clothing brands/ranges or inspiring more companies/ designers to become eco-friendly, such as the Queen of Sustainability; Stella McCartney.
It would be beneficial for more designers to follow her lead because the fashion industry has a disastrous effect/impact on the environment by being the second largest polluter.
Stella McCartney A/W19
Dominating Ideas;
Classic beauty is having that perfect face, where everything is symmetrical. But sometimes classic beauty is not just about outer beauty but also inner beauty. It is the harmony of both outer and inner beauty, which can radiate intelligence because it is shown in the way they move, facial language.Classic beauty is not only aimed at women, men can also be classically beautiful.
But today the beauty trends have changed from being classic, to be more nature. Almost like take away all the make-up and let the underneath skin have a breather. Embrace the natural skin, no matter if you have blemishes, unproportional face shape.
But this has impacted models, as we no longer want to see classically beautiful people, we want to see realistic people. People with freckles, or plus-size models. We want natural.

Dennis Pedersen styling

This still life photoshoot was much harder than expected as it takes as much consideration as when you do a normal photoshoot.
The pose of the lipstick was much harder to achieve but it was useful to have blu tack as that made it easier to pose in the right spot. I wanted to go for quite a pink shot so that the gold accents on the lipgloss would stand out more than the rest. I think the shot was good, might need to do some editing in photoshop to achieve a cleaner image, without the blu tack or lipgloss smudge on the paper.
The Black Opium bottle shot was somewhat good with the way it stands out against the pink but also if I had to change one thing in this shot, i would potentially change the background so that it would compliment it better. But I think on first glance, the bottle stands out the most. While the writing doesn’t really pop

Pendulum Swing
The pendulum swing is a theory/movement where fashion swings from one extreme/exaggerated trend to another.
For example, going from the 60s rebellious fashion of mini-skirts and then coming into maxi skirts. It went from short and rebellious to more modest and covered up.
Another example is going from volume and big shoulders in the 80s to very body-con in todays market. You tend to find body-con dresses on every website and shop because they are demanded by consumers as they are following trends of what they see on runways. There is a clear difference between the dress style as. one is very much very old because back then they thought that having volume in their clothing would make them have more authority

David Bailey Styling
I would say this shot was probably one of the easiest shoots, as David Bailey tended to shoot celebrities in grayscale because it came off more powerful, which this shot is.
I went for that Mick Jagger, with a fur coat over his head. I had to make sure the model had a fur hood on her coat, and that she positioned it like he did to almost pay homage. Obviously you can still see her hair, where she is holding her coat, and it is not so cropped in like David’s one is but the resemblance to his work is uncanny. I would change that so she wouldn’t show her hair but for that shoot it was quite good.
I am pretty proud of this image because the shoot looks pretty good with the lighting hitting her nose, creating that shadow.

Corrine Day Styling
Almost in true Corrine Day style of photography, this photoshoot seems fairly easy because it was just meant to show realness of life, with quite candid shots.
But in reality, this wasn’t so easy because you had to position the models so the photograph would look true to Corrine Day but also the sun was out, making the job harder because if you position them wrong they could be blinded or the sun could ruin the image.
I think the shoot overall was pretty good as the shot looked quite candid but also a little staged but so did Corrine’s ones.

The Zeitgeist theory.
The Zeitgeist theory represents the mood/spirit of the time, which would be shown by the ideas/beliefs or fashion trends. Mostly every trend is about capturing the zeitgeist by the way companies market themselves but also their designs of clothing.
For example, the spirit of time back in the 60s was all about rebellious/flirty fashion trends such as mini-skirts. The mini-skirt came round as the most daring skirt to come into fashion since the 1920s flapper dress. The times have become quite conservative over the time til the 60s came into the swing showing rebellion to the norms, that they were forced to conform too.
I asked a few members of the public what they thought the spirit of 2019 was.
Aaron, 22, Southend-On-Sea
Aaron believes that the overall mood so far has been moody with the dull colours and almost a depression in the air. As he thinks that everyone is mostly wearing dark colours of greys, blacks and blues. Not many eye-catching colours.
Julia, 18, Leigh-On-Sea
Julia believes that the feel of 2019 is very much self love and self care. She thinks that we tend to wear cosy comforting clothing and not sexy sassy clothing, that stands out. But also we seem to be trying a lot of trends to almost improve ourselves whether that be our makeup, clothing or hairstyles.
Scott, 19, Shoeburyness
Scott agrees with Julia in the fact we were comfy clothing as we want to almost feel safe and not judged because we currently live in quite a hypocritical time where something we say or do can cause an uproar to another member of society. Casual clothing of like white t-shirts and black/blue jeans is also another major thing that has been seen in 2019 as everybody is wearing it.
From those opinions of what the spirit of 2019, the spirits are usually casual, cosy but cautious feeling as we tend to wear clothes we are most comfortable in to feel some form of comfort but we are cautious of others opinions as it could cause backlash.
