Forcipemilia duomimus (it's french vernacular name is mille-pince but it's a pun with how we often call myriapods "mille-pattes" so i have no idea how to translate in english)
The young live in groups in lagoons and on beaches. To ward off predators, they use batesian like mimicry of a dangerous spider by turning round and crossing their pincers over their backs. This phase lasts around 6 months. They grow from 3 millimetres when they hatch to 30 centimetres when they reach adulthood.
Once they have become adults, they dive into deeper water. It is then that they will adopt a single file position making them resemble a juvenile large abyssal scolopander. They will then join one of their colonies in order to be protected and fed. This phase can last from a few months to 5 years. It ends when they meet up with another colony with which they can reproduce. Great Scolopanders remain juveniles for around 5 years.
They then return to their birth beaches to lay eggs. All the layers will die after hatching. In the new generation, there will generally be almost only females and one protadrous hermaphrodite per colony. As the protandrous from the previous generation is the only survivor, it becomes female and takes the lead of the colony.

Quelques illustrations à l'aquarelle et aux crayons de couleurs du corbeau et du renard.
A few illustrations of the crow and the fox. The most teached piece of poetry in schools here.
