Skyler hated hurricane season. She hated living in fear of what Mother Nature could do. She especially hated tornado season. After Katrina, she and her family had gone to help those left behind by the hurricane. It was humbling, to say the least. Those with car trouble, they’d fixed free of charge. She was willing to do it again.
The air crackled, almost as if a storm was afoot. Fortunately, the sun was clear and it was almost quitting time. Skyler set down the carburetor she’d been cleaning and wiped the rag on her hands. She’d devoted her time to the small garage she’d found and they were more than happy to take her on. Grease smudged her skin and coveralls as she wiped the sweat beading from her face when she saw a car approaching. “We’re about to close up. Is it important?” she called.

“I don’t think it matters how many years go by, nobody ever truly changes. Especially not creepy men who think they’re doing women a favour by whistling at them.”
“I’m a werewolf, I’m not a dog. And those gross men would just call me a bitch.”

Quinn: I've never been fortunate enough to have kids, so I have no clue about that.
Quinn: As for your second question, the secret is to go after somebody who the police don't like. This way, they don't invest too much time into the case.
Natalia: The babysitter gave him too much sugar.
Natalia: That's my next hit.

“Its always easier to talk to someone who is close to your age, I think” Daphne agreed. She’d never been able to talk to anybody about Dinah’s death. But if she had, she would have wanted it to be someone who was around her age. She didn’t need anybody talking down to her, the way some older adults liked to. “That’s a good idea. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.” She didn’t think the council would stand in Marlo’s way. After all, the more time the supernaturals here spent working, they less time they had to fight with one another.
Daphne smiled slightly. “Its okay” she said. “I actually find the concern sweet.” Marlo definitely seemed like a very nice woman. For which Daphne was grateful. She’d grown up with enough toxic people in her life. She didn’t need any more in it now. “My sister has a child of her own who is a few years older, so I’ve been asking her for all the advice I can get.”
“It’s easier to relate to someone closer to your age instead of feeling like someone can’t possibly relate to your struggles.” Marlo had dealt with enormous loss in her life, mostly things she had caused. Her family had told her it was a fact of life and not to dwell so much on it. It was easier said than done however. She took another bite of her ice cream.
“It gets hard to turn off. I get into counselor mode and then I find myself getting too in-depth and next thing you know, I end up billing insurance companies for my time.” It was a lame joke, sure, but one she couldn’t help but make. “It’s good that she has an influence like that, someone close to her age.”

“Nah, won’t get into anytrouble like this. Not gonna be touchin my magic, and I don’t like barfights. Too messsy.” Nico shrugged at her before sighing. “Sober me up? That’s no fun. And I’m not super intoxicated. Just a little drunk. Not lots.” He paused a moment, looking over at her. “You’re nice though. Too nice, bothering with me like this.”
She couldn’t hold back her derisive snort. “The law is still the law, regardless. I don’t think even you are above it. C’mon, let’s get some water in you, at least,” she stated, signaling the front desk for a water bottle for him. “Besides, it’s like I said. I’ve been through the whole new fiance thing and it’s just a pain.”

He’d promised he’d only allow his eyes to close for a mere moment, his main aim to refresh them and himself from the exhaustion that consumed him. However a moment quickly became a second, a second quickly a minute – a minute, becoming ten in what felt like a blink of an eye…literally. Until he could no longer calculate how long he’d allowed himself to rest his eyes. It’s with a jump that he’s roused. Realising that where he’s sat is hardly the place to stop take a nap. Sitting himself up, he does his best to wake himself up completely and it’s then and only then that he realises there’s a figure close by. “Oh, shit.” He’ll murmur; embarrassment stuns him, but he does his best not to let that show. “Did you say something? I – Was somewhere else, then.”
“I was gonna let you know you sat on something,” she commented, resting her arms on her legs. It was honestly amusing when she spoke and no one listened. She could tell anybody anything. “I was on the phone. You didn’t miss anything exciting; I spoke Spanish.”

“What are you talking about?” The werewolf asks, brows knitted together. To say he was judgemental, might have been an understatement – though Nye would always say that he was working on it. How hard he was working on it, was another story. “I’m not sure…Are you drunk or something? Or…maybe you need a drink?” He purses his lips, because he certainly needed one if he was going to be dealing with this.
“I don’t even know anymore. I just...I need to get drunk,” she agreed. She ran her fingers over her beer bottle and finally took a long swig. It didn’t matter that she’d need more than just beer to get the type of drunk she wanted, but it was a start.

Joel’s head turned as he heard the woman’s words and after noticing the cracked phone in her hand he gave her a sympathetic look. “I don’t suppose that was a screen protector? I always mean to get one for mine, but I always feel invincible, like I don’t need one.”
“It’s not a screen protector because those haven’t done shit. I’m gonna see if I can get my upgrade instead,” she replied. She still wanted to track down the person who broke her phone to beat the shit out of them.

“This whole thing is such bullshit” said Talia, standing in the lobby. She was speaking to no one in particular, ranting just out of frustration. “Its bad enough the council is forcing us all to get married. Why should those of us who actually live in New Orleans be forced to move into this hotel?” She was put out over not being able to stay in her own home.
“I wonder if they’ll let you move back in once you’ve met your betrothed?” Emmie wondered. “Or if you’re allowed to move once you’re married.”

Artie: What do people do around here for a little bit of fun?
Artie: The cheaper the better.
Artie: Also if food is involved, the best.
Lorena: I recently took up a cooking class.
Lorena: You know that the council pays for everything, right?

“Sorry to bother you but you don’t happen to have a light do you?” Ryan asked a cigarette hanging from his lips.
“I don’t. I usually do at home, but I don’t smoke,” Phoebe apologized with a sheepish smile. “I may have some matches, if you give me just a moment to look in my pocketbook.”

Cierra nodded. Then she added “I hope one day you can forgive me.” For now, she would try and give her sister as much space as possible. It might not be easy, considering they were living in the same hotel. But she would try.
“I was attacked by hunters a few months back. I wouldn’t have cared or even thought twice if I hadn’t seen what they were capable of,” she admitted. She still bore the scars from the silver, being forced to turn and feeling the monkshood burn her skin. “You, I forgive. What you were? Not so much.”

“I guess some people didn’t get the memo.” Ryan mused. “It is the year of the woman, right?”
“You’d think, right? You’d think they wouldn’t be all-out dicks and respect a girl.” The entire thing put Rowan in a terrible mood.

“Are you okay?” Ryan asked the other. “Want me to go kick his ass or something?” He asked joking with a smile.
It was a sign of growth, Marlo supposed, that she hadn’t tracked the guy down and threw him off his bike to see how he liked it. “No, but if I die, will you avenge me?”

“I’m sure. But that doesn’t mean I’ll ever involve you in my trouble if I can help it. I cause it for myself.” Nico sighed, running a hand through his hair, looking over at her. “I likely wouldn’t have paid it if I didn’t have any alcohol in my system. I’m trying not to be too friendly.” He shrugged and turned towards the door, intending to at the very least leave the hotel tonight.

Lorena couldn’t help her chuckle at his tactless words. “I’m here to make sure you don’t need to get into any. Trust me, that’s the last thing you need,” she commented. He was forlorn and it was all she could think to do to perk him up was to follow him. “Come on. Let’s sober you up a bit first. It’s against the law to serve overly intoxicated people.”
