WoT rewatch.
Second time around I “enjoy” seeing aspects of the world we didn’t see from the main characters eyes. Like the warder funeral.
I bet the writers thought. Let’s give book readers something new, something they haven’t see before.
The optimistic fools.
But I’m enjoying it.

I’ve been relistening to the books recently and decided to do a WOT rewatch.
Episode 1
Decided it’s a pretty solid episode after all. They didn’t just age up the characters they mostly aged them forward as well.
It’s was dark enough and grim enough. Of course it was all rushed. But that’s the nature of tv adaptions I guess.

Frightening of all the the people who don’t want to see sex on their tv with episode one. Meh. But I’ll give it a chance because it has Matt Smith in it. Even though so far I do t like him in this. He has no “warmth”.
Anyone watched House of Dragons? How is it?

Or. Blood Raven has installed himself as the ruler in perpetuity, because even when he does die he’ll just warg into someone else like he did Bran. So the prophecy did come true, and the ex seven Kingdoms are in for a world of hurt.
Ok ep.1 of house of dragon was good like it so far but I am still so mad that at then end of all this Bran sits on the iron throne and this whole “song of ice and fire” crap and “a Targaryen must sit on the iron throne to bring peace” or whatever doesn’t even happen and it’s all a lie but I will continue to watch it cause I’m trash 🥲

But I loved your post. I was just offering a ray of hope. They are both very very young and although we’ve stopped following their story on the TV show, there’s no reason to believe that this isn’t a universe in which they do end up together, either through political necessity or just because the passage of time heals all wounds. After all it is widely known now that Jon is not a Stark and that they are not cousins. Literally who knows what future does await them. That was all I was trying to say. As regards to Fan Fiction. The end seasons of the TV show are just as much canon divergent fan fiction as anyone else’s fan fiction.

Don’t forget the Hound who couldn’t help but act like a true Knight around her and her sister even though he’d have spat at the idea of honor.
I always felt like Sansa and The Hound were like train tracks experience a parrallel story arc. Sansa the dreamer and Sandor the cynic both learning that their world views were incomplete. Both growing in opposite directions towards a more honest view and better understanding of the world they lived in.
Ned the most honourable man in Westeros gives up his honor for Sansa, Brienne the most honorable knight in story says she is willing to give up her honor for Sansa. On the other hand Jaime a man without honor declares Sansa his last chance for honor. What's with Sansa and honor? Could be coincidence but I find it interesting....
I don't have any grand theories about this yet.
Just remember:
"A bastard can have honor too," Jon said. (AGOT, Jon I)

ned stark, a man who fought in a rebellion to quite literally overthrow the entire targaryen regime and replace it with a baratheon regime, was not a targ supporter just because he objects to child murder.
he’s a man of morals. just like how robb hates lannisters and went to war against them, he still objected to murdering children in their sleep just because they have lannister blood. ned was appalled to see a dead toddler and baby doesn’t mean he loves the targaryens. thinking rhaegar wouldn’t visit brothels isn’t an endorsement, this sentiment is neither positive or negative.
and not wanting to kill a thirteen year old is not proof he would have loved dany. she was two years older than his own daughter, and three years younger than lyanna. of course he didn’t want her killed. but he also didn’t want her on the throne. the two would be enemies if they ever met.
he also didn’t want to be responsible for the deaths of cersei’s children, despite the fact that he dislikes both jaime and cersei. ned still warns cersei to protect joffrey, myrcella, and tommen because he’s a decent man.
ned was canonically on the stannis is the one true king train.

I totally Ship them. Life would have been so much simpler if Danny had fallen for her nephews hot sort of sister. But then I also ship her with Jon and Danny as a “traditional” Targaryen threesome. Sansa and Jon could have produced the Targaryen heirs. Sansa and Danny could have been best friends with benefits.
Of course this all happens in la la land. When no one is exactly as portrayed in books or TV, but isn’t that the point of shipping. Playing with dolls in the sandpit.
Do people who ship Daenerys x Sansa actually like them together? I mean, regardless of whether they like only one of them or both of them because I know it’s still possible to ship characters even when you dislike or even hate a character but there’s something off about shipping those two. Same with other WLW ASOIAF ships especially with a problematic™ man LOL

Two universal constants of high fantasy living:
If something falls into ruin a necromancer will move in 100% of the time
There is a critical mass of gold that will summon a dragon. If you keep accurate records and stay below it you’ll be fine

In this light she could almost be a beauty, he thought. In this light she could almost be a knight. - Jaime (ASoS)
I finally made an ASOIAF side blog so now I have somewhere to post content of that nature lol.

Channels the Princess Bride.
They don’t sound very neutral to me. Adjectives fail me. Shit stirrers. Pompous know it all’s. What’s the word for people who think they are more intellectually rigorous than they are. Or maybe they are just purveyors of popcorn and sales are down.
one of the things that many asoiaf ‘neutrals’ are a meastro in, is creating a straw man and attacking these straw men with all the gusto of don quixote tilting at windmills…

Thanks for for saving me all of those hours of TV. Your good deed for the day.
This is how I imagined this went:
Oh, you guys didn’t like danys ending in game of thrones? Okay. We’ll do a prequel where the woman DOESN’T go mad- I know, exciting right? But wait, there’s a catch. So she doesn’t go mad and die at the hands of her lover. This time she’ll just be eaten alive by her brothers dragon in front of her child son. Oh… that’s not what you wanted? Too bad.
