My Secret

He is my secret. He is the memories I gloss over when I talk of my past and the anniversary dates that I will always remember. He is the one person that I can’t speak of, yet the one person who haunts every corner of my mind.

If I told you about him, would it be freeing or damning? If I read you his chapters of my story would you wrap me in your arms and hug the pain away or would you walk out of my life forever? If you knew of the stitches that hold my heart together, you might find it difficult to stay. So for now, he must remain my secret; I can’t risk losing you too.

i can be selfish. i can be arrogant. i can be judgemental. and sometimes in the mirror i see a me that i don’t want to be. she’s the me who is scared of being overlooked. she’s the me who is scared of being forgotten. and she’s the me who is scared of disapproval. when i am led by fear i am led astray and i become someone else’s version of me. but i’ve found that when i act through love, it’s my better half that stares back at me.

It’s funny how you have to pay additional rent for pets when toddlers are potentially just as if not even more destructive.

It broke my heart when I learnt that love won’t really fix anything in your life.

You will still be a wrenched person, a blurred crumble, a hole filled with the void, a muted eternal scream.

And, eventually, your significant other will have drained all his/her energies on you, wasting them.

Love won’t fix you. The horrible truth is that sometimes you can be just hopeless by nature.
