It might not seem like it with all the Arrow and random stuff that decorates my blog, but I am a moderately functioning human being. But most of the time I am randomly spacing out.

Because of evolving bacteria and bacteria defenses in our body, travelling to the future could lead you to death, and travelling back to the past can kill everyone.

movie idea: guy finds a stone tablet engraved with a mysterious alien language and gets caught up in a national treasure-esque adventure to decipher its meaning, only to learn that it’s just an alien “live, love, laugh” decoration

“Other people have it worse” is really a terrible and possibly insulting response to someone who is venting to you

Okay so I graduated college and I'm currently taking up medicine. I was thinking of posting random medicine related things that I find interesting and hopefully at least one other person will too. During one of our biochemistry plenaries, the doctor told us that lactose intolerance is caused by the deficiency of the enzyme lactase which digests lactose into glucose and galactose. Our body never actually stops producing it but just decreases the amount because we generally get our nutrients from others sources instead of milk. But the body can be stimulated to produce lactase again by drinking milk everyday. Your body will then create enough lactase to meet the demands of the body. And it works. I was lactose intolerant and suffered abdominal pains during my freshman year in college whenever I consumed milk. But I didn't care because I just rediscovered my love for milk. So I drank it everyday even though my stomach makes weird sounds after. A week or so after, the pains and sounds disappeared and I'm no longer lactose intolerant; I can drink milk whenever I want.

Hello tumblr. This is not the usual content of my post but I feel like I have to talk about this issue. The war on drugs of the Philippines is worsening every second. A minor was killed intentionally a few days ago. Police officers told everyone that the kid's father is a drug dealer and that the kid was the one who delivers them for him. The story goes that the police caught him in the middlr of the deal and they tried to ask him to surrender. They said that the kid pulled out a gun and shot at them while running. They said they had no choice but to shoot him. Thats not what the witnesses say. That's not what the security camera footage says. Witnesses said that the kid, Kian, was closing down their convenience store at 8:45 pm. The police arrived and tried to dragging him. Kian was heard saying "Please stop. I have an test tomorrow" (translated from Filipino). But the cops didn't stop. They handed him a pack of methampethamine and a gun then told him to run. They forced him to tun and then shot him down. The footage agrees with this. The war on drug in the Philippines started a year ago. And thousands have died. The police keeps making these stories up even if witnesses and footages say otherwise. This isn't the first time it has happened. And probably not the last because we don't see it stopping anytime soon. The government vehemently denies that they have anything to do with it while also saying statements like they are glad those people are dead and expects more to die soon. We are powerless to stop this. The Commission of Human Rights are treated next to trash here. They are called biased by the government. Anyone who expresses disatisfaction is seen as anti-government by people. This is not normal. This is not right. People are being called un-patriotic by fighting for other people's right to live. When you disagree with the government, you are viewed as a retard who supports the opposition party (their term for this is yellowtard). Why must human rights, the right to live and the right to a fair and just trial, be such a political issue? This is not normal but somehow it is. That's how bad things are. We have 5 more years of this term. And we're afraid. We're afraid of simple walking out. Parents are telling their children "Be careful; there might be some cops outside" instead of "Be careful; there might be some drug addicts outside". We're afraid because some people are cheering these extrajudicial killings on. They're cheering for it to show support for their elected president who, in their eyes, could do no wrong. Our country's democracy is dying out. Our human rights are on the verge of extinction. Our lives are on the scale and the ones deciding our fate is the government. We are slowly losing hope. Please, if you have time, please help our country. Please bring this to the attention of the world. They have to know what's going on. Please help us. We'll forever be in your debt.
