can’t believe tiktok is actually getting banned, twitter is infested with bots and brainworm-infested musk bots, facebook is king of QAnon, instagram caught the plague from facebook and is dying a slow death in real time… and as the dust settles… only Miss Tumblr is left standing… failing upwards once again

A PSA about the latest Vulture article to drop about Neil Gaiman -
Do not fucking read it if you are not in a stable state of mind.
Triggers include, but dare I say, are not limited to -
Sexual assault and misconduct
Anal, digital, oral, and vaginal rape
Forced urine/faeces consumption
Vomit/forced vomit consumption
Financial abuse
Gaslighting and manipulation
Sexual conduct in front of a minor
Sexual humiliation and degradation
Disordered eating, anorexia, and bulemia
Suicide, suicidal ideation
Self-harm
Child abuse
Scientology
Most of these things are discussed in explicit detail multiple times.
It's harrowing and heartbreaking to read. Even if these are not specifically triggers of yours, I beg, take a second to really have a think about whether you're in a place to take this on.

actually disgusting that a victim should have to recount her sexual assault to the public in horrific sickening excruciating detail to finally be believed. we knew months ago that neil gaiman was a rapist but it really took knowing *exactly* the ways that he raped and dehumanized her for you people to decide that it was *really* rape?? fucking ghoulish.

I don’t even think it’s accurate to be like “Neil Gaiman portrayed himself as the good guy but was secretly a monster” I think Neil Gaiman thinks he’s the good guy and that’s what’s scary. I think he still views himself as a scrappy 20 something year old misunderstood introvert trying to make it with just a wish and a story in his heart and I think that’s the problem. I think his refusal to grow the fuck up and get over himself is what caused his entitlement to others. Like, he has the most vile strain of Peter Pan syndrome imaginable. Women in the public eye often get smeared as immature for things like making art about difficult feelings they have or standing up for themselves against unfair or misogynistic criticism, but men in the public eye are seldom criticized for their very glaring, very dangerous immaturity and it is emboldening them and enabling them big time. Men in the public eye get to be charming, impish boys well into their middle age. Society coddles them. Society gives them the benefit of the doubt. Society blames the woman instead. Society makes excuses. Society is patient with them as they take their sweet time sorting things out that women are expected to have sorted out by the time we turn 30. Of course powerful men think they can do these things and get away with them! We so often allow them to!

In light of recent events, here are some mantras I think everyone should keep close to their chests.
1) Horrible people are capable of making amazing art.
Morality has no marker on experience and skill level. Only what they produce can, in theory, reveal their inner beliefs.
2) Do not put famous people or anyone on a pedestal.
You can be inspired and touched by what they create. There's no need to raise them to a hero or god like status in your mind. They will be awkward, annoying, and so very human it may lead you to disappointment and sadness when they don't meet the image you made of them in your head.
3) "Separate the art from the artist" rhetoric only works if the artist is dead or can no longer profit from the IP.
Every dollar you give to a franchise with a living bigoted artist is supporting their life style. They still receive that money even if you don't vocally support their beliefs. Please remain aware of where you put your wallet since financial support is still support. Pirate if you're desperate, but do not pretend buying merchandise directly from the store is harmless.
4) Respecting victims should be your priority.
You were not the ones hurt the most by events which occured. Conversation around this topic needs to be tagged appropriately and spoken of with sympathy.
As many people want to claim "they knew there was something fishy about X", it's not about lounging in your self perceived righteousness for not being into the thing. You are neither unique nor special for not getting into a media where the creator was revealed to be harmful. You were just as ignorant as the rest of us, and your bad feeling being validated is about as significant as claiming to sense ghosts in a house full of black mold.
In addition to this, fans of the media should not be taking this time to victimize themselves. Learning information like this so suddenly means we are aware you didn't know. There will not be your imaginary mob coming into your inbox to send you death threats or dox you for having made fan content. Stop acting like self flagellation or taking up arms is the next logical step to defend your interest.
5) You are allowed to be angry and hurt.
It's easy for me to say don't make people your heroes, but I know this isn't a mindset many people adhere too. Especially not people who are looking for footholds to build their skills and find inspiration and connection in the art someone of their similar passion creates. You can sit in your frustration and despair for a little while. Give yourself time to fully process what has occured, and then choose your next course of action. The internet has taught many people to react immediately to everything, but this is not nor has ever been required of you.
✌🏾

if you're aware of the Vulture article on Neil Gaiman, there's not much i can add; if you aren't and you go looking, my only advice is that if you hit a point where you're wondering if you should bail, do so, because the details of his behavior only get more vile as it goes along.
however, one thing i WILL say is to be on the lookout for smear campaigns against the sources and/or the journalist, Lila Shapiro, in the coming weeks and months. i cannot stress enough how brave this article is. if there's one thing more hazardous to your reputation than blowing up a rich and influential serial predator in the entertainment industry, it's making the church of scientology look bad, and she's managed to do both in one stroke. remember Lila Shapiro's name, and be extremely skeptical if it suddenly turns up later this year as the target of some slimy allegation.

On twitter I’m seeing dozens of threads from Black activists warning people against burnout, giving all sorts of useful tips about preventing and managing it for the sake of a long-term, sustainable effort.
On tumblr I’m seeing a hell of a lot of young white kids yelling at anyone who actually follows those steps, and acting like burnout is a moral falling rather than a well-proven psychological phenomenon.
Be careful who you get your information from. Don’t let guilt lead you to make choices that will harm both you and the movement.

🚨 We Need Your Kindness to Survive 🚨
Hello, My name is Mosab Elderawi, and I live in Gaza with my family. Life here has become harder than I ever imagined, and I’m writing this with hope in my heart that you might hear our story.
The ongoing war has devastated my family. We’ve lost 25 family members—each one a beloved part of our lives, taken too soon. I miss them deeply—their laughter, their presence, their love. Every day is a reminder of this unimaginable loss.

We are now facing daily challenges to survive—things that most people take for granted, like food, clean water, and a safe place to sleep. The harsh realities of life here have replaced our dreams with the constant fight for survival.
Our Current Situation:
💔 Lost Stability: The war has left us without work or a stable source of income. 🍞 Basic Needs: Food and water are becoming harder to afford with rising prices and scarce resources. 📚 Dreams on Hold: Like so many here, my family’s dreams have been replaced by the need to simply survive. 😢 Unimaginable Loss: Losing 25 loved ones has left a void that can never be filled.
How You Can Help:
I’m sharing our story with the hope that someone out there might care. Even $5 can make a big difference for us, and if you’re unable to donate, just reblogging this post can help spread the word.
Your kindness, no matter how small, is something we’ll never forget.
What This Means to Us:
Your support is not about changing our entire situation—it’s about giving us a little relief, a little hope, and a way to keep going. We are not asking for much, and we understand if you can’t donate. Sharing our story is just as valuable to us as a donation.
Thank you for reading this far. It means the world to us to know that someone is listening. Your kindness gives us strength and helps us believe in a better tomorrow.
With all our gratitude, Mosab Elderawi and Family ❤️

in dracula there is a cowboy and the female lead lives. in nosferatu there is no cowboy and the female lead dies. ergo, the existence of a cowboy is highly important for the survival of the female lead in a gothic vampire story.
