Thoughts about NCIS Hawaii getting 13 eps instead of 21?

The choice to have what I think is ten episodes this season (Vanessa said they finish filming April 2nd?) was forced due to the strikes, not ratings. They just don't have the time to film the usual season length. Season four should be back to our usual twenty two episode season.

This season feels rushed to me, but that's because in a lot of ways, it was. That we're getting ten episodes is amazing when you consider not only the cast, but the behind the scenes crew, transport, stylists. Everyone is working hard and long hours to give us this season.

Has it had an effect on the show? It feels like it has to me. What made this spin off different was the Ohana aspect and aside from drinks at Jane's, that's been missing. Sam Hanna could have been an interesting addition if we had a full season, but instead, he seems to take away from what made things special. The team is suspicious about him and we're spending time on that instead of scenes with Kate and Lucy at home, Wally and Hina being around, Jesse's family, Julie. The rush has forced all of that aside.

I do love what we've gotten so far, but there does feel like things are missing. That's what fanfic is for though and I'm enjoying all the fic we're getting from that.

On a side and sort of related note: NCIS Sydney was renewed and I'm celebrating that while I wait for Monday's episode!
