A bus may have only a couple of passengers, especially at the beginning or end of its route. But let's also take fuel efficiency into account.

Something Doctor Who misses out on is how none of the companions are extremely interested with any one thing. All the companions are all “idk, I have a few ideas of stuff that’d be cool to see, but I’m up for whatever! All of space and time, woohoo! :)”
And that’s great for them and I know it makes for a better show overall but I think it would be more realistic for someone to say “I want to see every historically significant moment for my special interest, and then I want to double back for mundane bits too.”
I, for example, would be an insufferable companion.
I’d be like, “okay now take me to the place and time where they first used stirrups for the whole ride instead of just using them as a foothold to mount the horse. Then I want to watch Ray Hunt put a first ride on a colt. After that we’ll take a nap, and then let’s sneak onto set of the Return of the King to be extras in the Ride of the Rohirrim”
The Doctor would be all “please. This is the twentieth horse-centric stop in a row. We have all of space available to us. Can we leave Earth this time I’m begging you”
And my annoying ass would go “not unless there’s horses in space” roll credits

One of the funniest writing tricks that Warframe pulls is Vay Hek. He's clearly the over-the-top bellowing villain you write for the games 1st year of production. He can't wait to tear you limb from limb. He is "meet the grineer, they are hyper violent space orcs."
But now, 10+ years in to Warframes development, the grineer have some real history and character behind them. We have met other grineer counselors, they are intelligent, imposing, cruel, and well written.
But also Vay Hek is still there. And he shows up to all the meetings screaming about he invented a new zombie bioweapon with chainsaw arms. The other grineer counselors just have to deal with him because he's an elected official.

Heard some US army dude say something about propaganda; that often as not the point is to produce absurd propaganda, so that it calls reporting on both sides into question.
If your side makes some absurd claim about the enemy killing their own civilians for not clapping or whatever, and the enemy points out your real war crimes, then, while your fanatics might believe you anyway, the response of the Educated Moderate would be: ‘Well, there’s a lot of misinformation going around, so it’s not really possible to know the facts for sure’ - tacitly going along with your goal of muddying the waters, and feeling like they’ve outsmarted you for it.
Funnily enough, very applicable to Radio Free Whatever and its absurd reporting with, say, the DPRK.

“First season of LEVERAGE - so he's 21 years old - he shows me his watch designs. I'm expecting, y' know, celebrity strap branding or faces. No, it's engineering schematics of GEARS and shit. Pages of them. Even then, there were none so cool.” - John Rogers
