Learned today that Isabella Stewart Gardner’s husband bought her the famous giant string of pearls after he found out that she had cheated on him. Jack Gardner, nearly unique among men, took this as a warning that he should be nicer to his wife, which included giving her an astounding amount of pearls and a trip to Japan.

My probably unfair critique of that Severance episode (spoilers btw) is that it is hard for me to buy a human woman who remembers having dignity finding herself in a non-sexual Handmaid's Tale scenario, telling her captor "I want to go home," and upon receiving the response "Your husband has a new family" replying "I don't believe you" instead of "I don't care." Man who even asked! Let me out of here!

Haven't figured out how to share this thought without sounding like I'm defending Drake personally but we must persevere. I keep having this thought about him getting called a pedophile on stage at the Super Bowl with no actual accusations that is like, shouldn't the guys who are obsessed with false rape accusations care about this. Isn't it kind of depressing that he has fewer defenders from being called a pedophile essentially as an insult than he likely would have if this had started with an actual woman accusing him of assault
