in honour of ozzy osbourne straight up just fuckin dyin yesterday here’s an ozzy/sabbath special of ‘what would love händel listen to?’
similar to the back to the beginning one i did but including their whole discographies (excluding the sabbath albums w dio/martin/hughes etc. as vocalists since we’re focusing on ozzy) and w/o the other bands ofc
gonna try to include some explanations for individual songs too cause i thought that was fun
as my name may suggest, i’m a massive ozzy fan so this could be a long ass ramblin post (it is- my apologies but not really ;) )
danny (explanations for some of these are simply that he seems like the kinda guy who likes to look for ‘rarities’ and b-sides that no one else knows- kinda difficult w one of the most popular bands in the world but he’s nothing if not a trier)
• Am I Going Insane? (Radio)- Black Sabbath
• Laguna Sunrise- Black Sabbath
• Rock ‘N’ Roll Doctor- Black Sabbath (the spirit called him)
• Supertzar- Black Sabbath
• Tomorrow’s Dream- Black Sabbath
• Wicked World- Black Sabbath (the guitar solo in this single-handedly cemented it as one of his favourite songs of all time)
• Can You Hear Them?- Ozzy Osbourne
• Crazy Babies- Ozzy Osbourne
• Crazy Train - Live 1981- Ozzy Osbourne (loves the song but specifically this version, adores the randy rhoads tribute album)
• For What It’s Worth- Ozzy Osbourne (you’re telling me ozzy osbourne covered a buffalo springfield song that’s all about counterculture? fuck yeah!)
• My Jekyll Doesn’t Hide- Ozzy Osbourne
• Patient Number 9- Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck (he loves jeff beck (rip to him too!) and he’s the biggest yardbirds fan, so this is basically the collaboration of his dreams)
• Time- Ozzy Osbourne
• Tomorrow- Ozzy Osbourne
• Crucify the Dead- Slash, Ozzy Osbourne (100% a slash fanatic, another ideal collaboration for him)
bobbi (probably likes the ballads/melodic songs the most but he loves anything you put in front of him)
• Changes- Black Sabbath (loves any song where geezer has anything to do with lyrics, there’s a joke in here somewhere about changing. thought the mellotron was a genius move)
• Fairies Wear Boots- Black Sabbath
• N.I.B.- Black Sabbath (i’m telling you man he adores that bass solo, loves the lyrics and loves geezer butler, was a ‘Nativity In Black’ truther and was lowkey disappointed that it was about bill ward’s beard)
• Close My Eyes Forever- Lita Ford, Ozzy Osbourne (brings a tear to his eye, probably screamed into a pillow when he first heard this)
• All My Life- Ozzy Osbourne (probably cries to this too (secretly i’m very lonely//am i gonna be lonely like you for all my life))
• All the Young Dudes- Ozzy Osbourne (ozzy covering a mott the hoople song written by david bowie, basically anything he could possibly be interested in all merged together)
• Dreamer- Ozzy Osbourne
• Holy For Tonight- Ozzy Osbourne (seriously that man just likes making himself cry)
• Lay Your World on Me- Ozzy Osbourne
• Mama, I’m Coming Home- Ozzy Osbourne (i’ll say it again: total mama’s boy who thinks this song is meant for him)
• No More Tears- Ozzy Osbourne (i just need to make it known that this is my all time favourite ozzy song i love it so much and i’m projecting like crazy)
• Ordinary Man- Ozzy Osbourne, Elton John (elton!! also slash!! and duff mckagan!! and chad smith!! he doesn’t wanna die an ordinary man)
• Perry Mason- Ozzy Osbourne (he watched the tv series growing up- sherman says the books are better)
• Road to Nowhere- Ozzy Osbourne
• See You on the Other Side- Ozzy Osbourne
sherman (as i’ve mentioned once or twice, he gives me major ‘uncle in his 60s’ vibes, so these are based on my irl in real life uncles fave ozzy/sabbath songs, therefore, not too many explanations lol)
• After Forever- Black Sabbath (played this to his nana when she asked what the band was about cause he thought it was the most nana-appropriate song, was going well until the “pope on the end of a rope” bit)
• Behind the Wall of Sleep- Black Sabbath
• Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath
• Into the Void- Black Sabbath
• Orchid- Black Sabbath
• Paranoid- Black Sabbath
• Snowblind- Black Sabbath
• Sweet Leaf- Black Sabbath
• Symptom of the Universe- Black Sabbath
• Masters of War- Mountain, Ozzy Osbourne (ozzy covering a bob dylan song with mountain? you cannot get any more sherman in my eyes)
• Bark at the Moon- Ozzy Osbourne
• Diary of a Madman- Ozzy Osbourne
• Goodbye to Romance- Ozzy Osbourne
• Mr. Crowley- Ozzy Osbourne (probably had a phase of being really interested in aleister crowley and the occult and read like 1,000 books about it)
• So Tired- Ozzy Osbourne
honourable mention: they all love the osbournes tv series intro version of crazy train by lewis lamedica/pat boone and will regularly sing it this way instead of the actual version
so there we go, something of a tribute post to the man whose music raised me, alongside a silly little childhood interest that i’ve never quite managed to shake.
rest in peace and thank you for the music to the prince of fucking darkness. you changed lives man. as long as your music survives, you’ll never be truly gone. rock on, ozzy, wherever you are 🦇
“A titanic boulder has crashed, but rock will roll on.” -Alice Cooper
goodnight, and thank you

okay so back on the ‘what would the guys from love händel listen to?’ grind
i wanna base this instalment off some songs from back to the beginning (the ozzy farewell concert) since yk they’d all be super into that (and they all definitely cried #tooreal)
gonna try to articulate my thoughts about why i chose these songs too (gotta keep the ole brainbox ticking over somehow yknow)
danny (black sabbath/ozzy)
• War Pigs- Black Sabbath (i feel like he’d be real into the anti-war sentiment? also he’d eat up rhyming “masses” with “masses” like nobody’s business)
• Flying High Again- Ozzy Osbourne (you already know he loves that randy rhoads solo, he so thought he was a genius for knowin what the lyrics meant)
danny (other bands)
• Walk This Way- Aerosmith (listen it just is what it is alr they match each other perfectly the spirit called to him)
• Welcome To The Jungle- Guns N’ Roses (this song would drive that man fuckin nuts (in a fun, bouncing off the walls, full of energy kinda way))
bobbi (black sabbath/ozzy)
• N.I.B.- Black Sabbath (that bass solo man lord have mercy, geezer butler is 100% one of bobbi’s musical heroes)
• Mama, I’m Coming Home- Ozzy Osbourne (i totally hc him as a mama’s boy so yeah he would think that song is written for him personally)
bobbi (other bands)
• Man in the Box- Alice in Chains (got into aic cause he thought layne staley was gorgeous, stayed for the sick tunes, blasts this in the salon when it’s empty)
• Love Bites (So Do I)- Halestorm (there’s nothing he appreciates more than an angry woman putting everything she has into singing)
sherman (black sabbath/ozzy)
• Planet Caravan- Black Sabbath (hella pink floyd vibes and yk he’s basically in love with roger waters, also super chill song which i think he’d enjoy? also! also! congas!)
• Crazy Train- Ozzy Osbourne (he loves that classic ozzy action, also you can’t convince me he hasn’t thought about shouting “all aboard” in the library when he’s bored)
sherman (other bands)
• Breaking the Law- Judas Priest (omggg such an uncle song and if sherman isn’t an uncle then what is he??? he definitely thought it was such an edgy song when he was younger)
• Creeping Death- Metallica (i feel like he’d be into the plague thing and think it was super cool and clever)
so there we go, clearly i’m somewhat of an expert at explaining my thoughts with detail, depth, and nuance
again, very fun, will probably do another 18 trillion of these
goodnight, and thank you

salutations one and all
j wanted to document my obsession w love händel and pnf before it fizzles out and disappears for another year
thinkin about some songs the guys from lh would listen 2
danny
• Wicked World- Black Sabbath
• I’m the Urban Spaceman- The Bonzo Dog Band
• Layla- Derek & The Dominos
• The Arrival Of The Queen Of Sheba, From Solomon- George Frideric Handel
• White Rabbit- Jefferson Airplane
• God Gave Rock ‘N’ Roll To You II- KISS
• Air Guitar- McBusted
• Backlash Blues- Nina Simone
• Mosaic- Rival Sons
• Anastasia- Slash, Myles Kennedy, The Conspirators
bobbi
• Hello Hooray- Alice Cooper
• Broken Wings- Alter Bridge
• Hot In The City- Billy Idol
• The Card Cheat- The Clash
• Just Can’t Get Enough- Depeche Mode
• Victim of Love (Remix)- Erasure
• Beauty School Dropout- Frankie Avalon
• Get Close- The Rolling Stones
• 14th Street- Rufus Wainwright
• Pagan Lovesong- Virgin Prunes
sherman
• New York Groove- Ace Frehley
• Tired of Being Alone- Al Green
• After Forever- Black Sabbath
• Drift Away- Dobie Gray
• Waterloo Sunset- The Kinks
• Mr. Crowley- Ozzy Osbourne
• In The Air Tonight- Phil Collins
•Brain Damage- Pink Floyd
• Circumstances- Rush
• Kings- Steely Dan
so i can explain pretty much all of these choices by vibes alone but here’s the basic gist:
danny’s pretty eclectic and will listen to most things as long as he considers it ‘proper’ music (big fan of classical- he totally named the band love händel because he loves handel)
bobbi’s a fun mix of 80s/90s pop (gay pop; CEO: Jojo Siwa), new wavey stuff, and music that your uncle would listen to
sherman is definitely the most uncle music taste out of them all (based) but he does like r&b/soul too
i’ll probably make another 43,000 of these cause it’s fun asf
goodnight, and thank you
