Keep interested in your own craft.
Always work on progression, no matter how small and slow.
These are our constants in the changing fortunes of time.

If we want to achieve greater heights, we have to climb higher mountains, that we have never journeyed on. Greater things are attained outside the comfort zone. Dream big and don't be afraid to fail in the pursuit of following what you're passionate about.
Having my hand raised at the end of the match on my 1st IBJJF Worlds Masters was indescribable. It was surreal.
I also truly appreciate the learning in losing. If we don't fail, I guess we're not even trying. I'd rather risk losing than not trying at all.
“Imagine if you will, being on your death bed – and standing around your bed – the ghosts of the ideas, the dreams, the abilities, the talents given to you by life.
And that you for whatever reason, you never acted on those ideas, you never pursued that dream, you never used those talents, we never saw your leadership, you never used your voice, you never wrote that book.
And there they are standing around your bed looking at you with large angry eyes saying ‘we came to you, and only you could have given us life! Now we must die with you forever.’
The question is – if you die today, what ideas, what dreams, what abilities, what talents, what gifts, would die with you?” -Les Brown
No regrets.

Adam Wardzinski is regarded as one of jiujitsu's top heavyweight competitors of this generation and known for his effective butterfly guard. Glad to have the opportunity to learn from him at our home gym Deftac Alabang.

Look not just to see but also to open your eyes to new perspective. Hear with the intent to listen, understand and openly learn new things. Open your mind and be humble in your mindset of learning.

The experience on my 3rd consecutive year at the IBJJF Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship was just pure AWESOME! I wanted to be at the moment and fully grasp the whole experience from feeling the wind that was blowing when i was walking to the budokan, to running my fingers to the walls of the stadium to feeling the mats on my hands and feet before every match. I could feel every drop of my sweat run through my face in between matches. This time I didnt listen to music and put on earphones to pump me up but just wanted to be IN THE MOMENT. NO HYPE. This made me compete at my very best with positive energy and extra attention to every detail.
Being present in the moment is a gift and I am extremely thankful for one of the most wonderful experiences I've had.
Live in the moment and appreciate the present. The present is a present. 📷: @fotosdejiujitsu.jp

I believe that we can always learn something from someone. As a coach, I sincerely appreciate it when students ask about the lessons I teach because they are clarifying an idea and they are smart enough to think why or why not and the how. Clarifying an idea or questioning shouldn't be seen as a conflict but rather as an opportunity to have something greater than what the student knows and synergize with the concept taught. What ends up is having a better idea and concept than what was actually taught. PROGRESS. But this can only happen when not only the student but also the teacher has NO EGO and open to think of new ideas while holding strong to the foundation of principles.
I like teaching the concept behind every technique rather than the steps. Teach concepts and understanding of THE PROCESS will follow.
I am a coach & mentor but more importantly and will always be a student of the art of jiujitsu and life 🖖

Managed to squeeze in a competition while on vaction with the fam. My girls said they enjoy watching "fights" because you can never predict results. Competing is my little way of inspiring and never giving up regardless of result. The L is for The Learning. #dumau #asjjf #noego #noegobjj #bjj #japan #taito

This is the key mentality one should be having when starting with jiu-jitsu or any difficult but worthwhile task in life. "Focus on the moment, not the monsters that may or may not be up ahead" Live in the present moment. Source: The Obstacle Is The Way by Ryan Holiday
