       A resigned nod answered his indignant response. Really, she should have expected no less, for there was truth in his words. Zhu  Li rarely left his side. She only… she had hoped he might not have minded since the business had concluded and they were well into the night. And yet— behind her disappointment lurked a quiet sort of pride that he admitted to needing her. It was foolish perhaps, but she could not help it.        Eyes widened to near-perfect circles as his arm wound about her. Without being entirely cognizant of her reaction, Zhu Li nestled closer to his ridiculous warmth, practically tucking herself into his side. It wasn’t professional, nor intentional, but happened all the same.        Guilt rose, unwelcome and unbidden, from Varrick’s disappointment. Never was her intention to seem ungrateful or unappreciative, for truly the festival was one of the most breathtaking events of her life.        No time was allowed for her to explain when he suddenly began to scold her, but not for being ungrateful. No, it was for not telling him of the reason she wished to return to the boat in the first place.

      “Sorry, sir. Really, I’m not terribly uncomfortable. —Wait, sir, what? Really you needn’t do that, I’m fine—” But of course Varrick wasn’t listening to her protests and Zhu Li found herself cocooned in his luxurious coat. Snuggled up in the warm white fur, (and slightly high from the scent of Varrick surrounding her) she found it far more difficult to argue.       “You are going to freeze!” she protested instead, her words a bit less effective when they were muffled from the collar covering her mouth.

                      ❛ POPPYCOCK ! ❛ was varrick's short answer after he already                          had put his coat over her. ❛ i can't let my employee freezing in                          the cold -- that would only make a bad image ! ❛ as if his ego                          wasn't a bad image itself. however, he gently tugged on the                          hem of the coat to keep it around her,      like a large blanket.                          there, that should keep her warm. with a redesigning wave                          of his hand he turned around, shaking his head. ❛ zhu li, please --                          i was born in this tundra, i'm never getting cold or any of this stuff ... ❛

                         he decided to drop the conversation with that && kept on walking                          along the path, keeping an eye on her so he would make sure                          himself she was not dragging the coat through mud or snow.                          they were greeted by other people here && there which he still                          knew from his childhood, mostly elderly people. he had despised                          staying in the company of children his age - he rather talked to the                          elder folks, the geniuses, the wisest of the village. just sad that                          those happen to be the most annoying people by now. 

                         they kept on asking how it could be that he, Sir Varrick, being a                          man of wealth && fame, in a perfect age, was still not married.                          he would only bite his lower lip && drag zhu li away from them.

                        ❛ unbelievable --- could you imagine that ? ❛ he hissed towards her.                         ❛ as if i'm not already disliking old people -                             so NOSY !                           what comes next ? are they gonna ask if    WE BOTH    are married ?                           hah, very funny ! ❛ he laughed bitterly.

i don't want to delete yet, but i won't roleplay with many people in future anymore. only will make minimal exceptions.
