Amazon is offering select Switch games at $40 for Black Friday!
That‘s a great deal for anyone who hasn‘t gotten around to playing these titles yet! My favorites are Mario Odyssey, DKC Tropical Freeze (very underrated!) and Breath of the Wild of course.
At the time of me posting this the offer still stands, let‘s hope they don‘t sell out in .3 seconds...

The Ultimate Nintendo Holiday gift guide!
1. SNES Classic
The SNES classic is such an amazing concept. It’s the cheapest console Nintendo sells right now and it’s probably the best value, too. This is number one on my personal wishlist this year :)
→ Amazon Link (X)
2. New Nintendo 3DS XL Retro Version
If you never got around to getting a 3DS, now is the time! It‘s arguably one of the best handheld consoles ever made. You could get a 2DS XL but the retro SNES version 3DS XL is available on amazon for around $180 right now. It’s one of the best looking 3DS versions out there and the price is really good, too. There‘s so many incredible games on the console and they‘re all relatively cheap by now. Bringing me to my next point...
3. 3DS Classics
You can get a ton if A+ 3DS titles for really cheap nowadays! Nintendo has started marketing some 3DS titles as classic editions for less than $20. Some of these include:
Super Mario 3D Land (X)
Zelda A Link Between Worlds (X)
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (X)
Luigis Mansion: Dark Moon (X)
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (X)
Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (X)
All of these titles are available on Amazon for 15 to 20 dollars right now. You can check out the full list on Amazon here. Personally, i have played all of the games listed above and would say they are still worth that price (Animal Crossing especially, you can easily get 80+ hours of gameplay out of that game!)
Other great titles around $30 include:
New Super Mario Bros. 2
3DS Pokémon Games
Luigis Mansion 3DS Remake
4. All the amazing Switch Games that came out so far!
If you or someone you know own a Nintendo Switch, getting one or two new games is a great option, of course. They are a little more pricey than the 3DS games but they‘re really really good! Some games I personally recommend are:
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (X)
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (X)
Super Mario Odyssey (X)
Zelda: Breath of the Wild (X)
DK Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (X)
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (X)
Splatoon 2 (X)
Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee (X)
BTW there‘s also plenty of cheaper eshop titles you can have a lot of fun with! Some of my favorites are:
Steamworld Dig
Overcooked 2
Humans Fall Flat
Ultimate Chicken Horse
Sonic: Mania
Stardew Valley
5. A Nintendo Switch (of course)
It‘s the most expensive item on the list by far, but i think almost everyone will get a lot of enjoyment out if this console. The fact that you can take AAA console games with you wherever you go is just a game changer for me. I recently spend 18h traveling from across the US to Frankfurt, German and the Switch basically saved me from going insane haha
Personally, I recommend on of the Mario Kart 8 Bundles. If you still got money to spare, getting the Mario Party + Joy-Con game bundle with your Switch is a good option, too. Can‘t really go wrong with an extra controller :)

Nintendo Switch Online is going live this September
The Service mainly work through a mobile app and will be significantly cheaper than its competing online services by Sony and Microsoft
Details
Nintendo just announced that their paid online service Nintendo Switch Online will be live by September 2018. Subscribers will be able to play multiplayer games online, as well as getting free retro games every month. The service is very similar to Sony’s PSN and Microsoft‘s Xbox Live, however subscription fees will be significantly lower:
That’s about half of what Sony and Microsoft are charging. With the PSN and Xbox Live you’re getting more recent games for free, however. Nintendo is only offering Virtual Console Games from the NES and SNES era.
Outlook
I‘m really hoping Nintendo will be doing a good job here. They have never been particularly good with online but we‘ll see. The service launch has been delayed by quite a bit already, so i‘m assuming they‘ll take their time to polish everything.
Are you planning on getting Nintendo Switch Online when it launches later this year?

Amazon is currently selling Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for just $18.90!
That’s a great deal for anyone who didn’t get around to playing the game when it came out! A Link Between Worlds is a more casual approach to the series and the first one to let players enter dungeons in whatever order they want to. It’s one of my personal favorite Zelda games and a real 3DS essential if you ask me. Something about it makes me wanna replay it over and over and I love it every time.

Nintendos Christmas Sales figures are absolutely insane
Nintendo just released their sales figures for the past year and they’re just crazy.
Hardware
Nintendo Switch sold 14.86 Million units up until December 31st 2017. That’s more units than Wii U sold in over 5 years. 7 million of those Switches were sold during the holidays, meaning they sold roughly 30 unites per second. I’m honestly surprised there weren’t any serious stock shortages with those kind of numbers.
Software
There were 50 million software titles sold for Nintendo Switch. The best-selling game is Super Mario Odyssey at 9 million units sold. For comparison, the best-selling 3D Mario game to date is Super Mario 64 which sold 11.89 million units. Super Mario Odyssey is pretty much guaranteed to surpass these sales in the next few months, which is insane considering 64 took an entire generation to achieve those numbers.
Zelda Breath of the Wild sold 6.7 million units and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe did 7.33 million, now matching the sales of the original MK8. All that in less than one year. The Switch basically outperformed Wii U lifetime sales in 9 months.
Splatoon 2 sold close to 5 million units which is very impressive, as well.
This really shows that people absolutely love Nintendo IPs. As long as they’re released on good hardware they sell like hot cakes. Legendary IPs coupled with innovative hardware is Nintendo’s key to success.
Do you own a Switch? If not, do you plan on getting one this year?
