“Oh… Dames… no, please don’t cry.”

Jon’s voice broke with the words, soft and desperate all at once. His hands came up to cradle Damian’s face as though it were something fragile, something that could shatter if he wasn’t careful. His thumbs brushed gently across wet cheeks, sweeping away tears that only seemed to fall faster for every one he caught.

“I’m so sorry,” he whispered, pressing a trembling kiss to Damian’s forehead. The apology wasn’t just for this moment—it carried the weight of every misstep that led them to where they currently stood.

Jon pulled him close then, wrapping Damian into his arms with a grip that said I’m not letting you go. He held him like he could shield him from everything—past, present, and future. Damian’s small frame trembled against his chest, but Jon only tightened his hold, whispering into his hair, “I’m so, so sorry… so please, … don’t cry anymore?”

And it works every time. But this also just causes the two of them to just cling to each other for about a week or two.
