Christopher Robin (2016)

Christopher Robin is a Disney film i feel Walt Disney would have been proud of. It’s a fantasy film with real human undertones that are not washed under the rug and hold a everlasting bite. This film has heart,laughs,emotions and a lot of love that is brought in threw the run time of the movie and i can’t recall one scene were the character’s were not true to there origins.

The film start’s with Christopher robin having to leave the 100 acre woods. His parents are being sent to bordering school by his parent’s and this means leaving everything behind. We get glimpses of robin growing up showing him at boarding school, falling in love and even going to war with the one he loves as he kisses her goodbye and it’s revealed she is pregnant. We see his coming homing from school and seeing his daughter for the very first time. Then we get this glimpse of robin at a desk typing on the typewriter as his wife and child dance in the next room to some music and robin get’s up but instead of joining them he shut’s the door because there destroying his concentration.

As robin grows up he is no longer the carefree child he once was. He’s changed and not for the better and this eventually would put robin at risk with his wife and kid. Then we go back to the 100 acre woods as poo searches for his friends only to end up were by the tree Christopher robin left from and decides if anyone can help him it’s his old friend. Pooh resembles what once was and robin has lost and seeing old intertwine with new as pooh does not understand is a emotional and interesting concept. All pooh want’s is robin and his friends, and all robin want’s is to get pooh back home and continue with the deadline at work.

Eventually threw circumstances that involve eeyore,tigger,pooh,owl,rabbit & piglet robin begins to see the bigger picture, see his family and the sad face turns into that of a smile and by the end of the film he’s back to the old robin.

There are some very clever gags in the film that happen in london when a talking stuffed animal would not be normal. There is scenes with eeyore that provides the comic relief when needed and tigger is the bouncing tiger we have all grown to love. The only thing i would have changed in there character portrayals would be piglet himself because he’s really just a coward and would be afraid of his own shadow. He does not get enough time to justify the other side we have grown to love.

The script was done with simplicity but ton of heart, the characters each on point in there roles and the animatronics is so real it’s sometimes creepy watching stuffed animals walking around like they do. I Wrote out Disney but after this film i’m not so sure because this is what i feel Disney is best at mixing laughs and tear jerkers with a emotional real life story. I’m not sure i would watch the film again but don’t regret once that i watched it.

Not Just Another Face In The Crowd

Ghostface : Do you like scary movies?

Sidney Prescott : What's the point? They're all the same. Some stupid killer stalking some big-breasted girl who can't act who is always running up the stairs when she should be running out the front door. It's insulting.

Neve Cambell as Sidney Prescott is what made scream for me work. Ghost face was a great looking villain, the killing’s themselves were brutal (Never will i forget drew hung from a tree, disemboweled with her guts spilling out) but it was Neve’s untapped fire that sent adrenaline pumping threw my veins. She was a shy girl with a tragic past forced into being a woman just to survive the tragic event’s that are happening around her and in the end too her. At the end of the scream she was a survivor. When the sequels happened she was aware of the situation’s, then escaped accordingly but saying she was not emotional damaged would throw out a good portion of the second film. 

Neve had a lot going for her will sex appeal, smarts and of course attitude it was hard not to applaud this heroine or simply just wanted to be her. She was the victim that would refused to be the victim, she was style as she ran from the killer, she was logical in situations that demanded she be and after 4 films i personally feel she demands the respect she deserve’s.

Scream would be nothing without it’s villains this is true, but the villain would be nothing without the person they are playing off against.

The Changeling (1980)

Hypnotic, Nostalgia there are a bunch of movie’s that never come close to the hype. As a film of cinema i’m destined more then not to see the film and judge for myself often feeling disemboweled and wasting my time. Boils and Ghoulies i’m happy to say this film did not just meet the hype but exceeded my every expectation.

The changeling is a ghost story released in 1980 and directed by Peter Medak. After tragic event’s one man is seeking a new start. Upon moving he wants to rents a home and then resides in a historical mansion. Not everything is what it seems as odd occurrences keep happening and he sent in a chilling tale of a past deed not forgotten.

I Wanted to turn off the film, i just was so petrified that i could feel the chill in my bones. I Owed it to the actors,director’s to finish what i started and when the credit’s finally rolled i was astonished to find out that the film did not fail at created a ending like most film’s that bite off more then it can chew. It ended with the grace it started with and the ride was emotionally gut wrenching, the supernatural element’s played into perfection. The Hype was real, and became one of my favorite movie’s of the ghost genre of horror and shares the admiration i have for house on haunted hill,legend of hell house,the haunting &  The Devil's Backbone. There is no blood, no gore this film is pure as a virgin before she is deflowered, this film is so eerie that you will jump at the minor noises when your house settles. There is one scene with a tape recorder that i’ll never forget, that will chill me every time, that dropped my jaw.

Do yourself a favor and see the changeling this Halloween and get the spooky spirit exorcised from your body. (8 out of 10 Skulls)

Zero Dark Thirty (2012)

There are some films that you honestly have no knowledge of and the genre in question is one you rarely attempt at watching. Zero Dark Thirty is one of these film’s in my collection. 

Based on the effort’s of certain individuals who are on the hunt for a well known terrorist hidden in isolation and wanted by man for the act’s he was involved in. With Jessica Chastain portraying Maya a woman who is determined in finding a Osama Bin Laden after his involvement in the 2001 terrorist attack that left many grieving for there loved ones or in shock as the twin tower’s were truck. The film start’s out with  Jason Clarke who plays Dan torturing for information and Maya on assignment, threw the film we see her connection get stronger and determination get more fierce. The film end’s in a breath taking and simply brilliant choreographed sequence of the navy team invading the compound and everyone including Maya praying this is it, they have Osama. 

I Must tip my hat for Kathryn Bigelow’s directing and the cast’s flawless portray of a subject so close to people’s heart’s and achieving it flawlessly. I Myself would have been terrified i would achieve something without justice to the Real hero’s that made these event’s and the outcome a moment in history.

If you haven’t see Zero Dark Thirty i highly recommend you do, it’s a nerve wrecking adrenaline filled edge of your seat flick with a perfect emotional send off that does not overstay it’s welcome.
