Mae sat up with a JOLT, her scarlet eyes quickly fluttering open to see her friend sitting beside her. Oh. It... had been a dream. A gruesome one filled with SCREAMS and D E A T H. The feline suppressed back a shudder as she draped her arms around herself. 

She WONDERED why Bea bothered with her again; they HAD drifted apart years ago. Ah well, that was the past. She didn’t want to focus on it too much. She frowned, feeling wetness against her cheeks. Mae groaned, reaching up to feel. Sure enough, she’d been crying in her sleep. Yet again. 

“GREAT, I’m an EFFIN’ C R Y B A B Y!” 

She sniffled once, peering over at the crocodile. “Did... my parents let you in?”

“Wow! Didn’t know you in that much of a rush to lose!” he teased, following her out the door. Honestly? Mae was probably faster than he was, she did all that weird bouncing around and stuff. He was a bit out of shape in that kind of stuff recently, but hey, he loved a good challenge. “You’re totally on though, if ya wanna try~”

“DUDE, I’ll bet you five dollars I’ll win the race!” She snickered, getting prepared to dart off. Mae was pretty fast on her feet, though she could be a bit clumsy at times. It was nice to see Gregg’s mood change, so this told her this was definitely a good idea.

“...I KNOW you don’t h a t e m e. Wanna know something funny though??” Mae draws in a shaky breath and lets out a quiet breath.

“I honestly thought YOU DID. When I came back here, y’know...? Like, when you were dropping me off at my place after the party happened.”

See? This is why he loved Mae. Er, ya know, why she was his best friend. Or, whatever. She always knew how to bring him up and he liked to think he knew how to bring her up as well.

“Yes! DONUT WOLF!” he cheered, instantly perking back up. “That sounds so much better than crappy old pizza!” plus he really didn’t want to be in the house right now anyways. “I’m not scared to walk!” it was nice out, plus– donuts? It was an obvious choice.

Ah, there he was! That was the Gregg she adored! She couldn’t help but flash him a GRIN as she headed for the front door. “I had a feeling you’d like that option. Let’s go! We can probably just take a shortcut or something through the woods. And to make things interesting... let’s race there!”

“Yeah, parents totally blow sometimes, huh?” it wasn’t like he was on speaking terms with his own parents, but anyways… “I know, right? Like, we were totally just gonna chill but nope! So I ordered pizza instead…? But I like, wasn’t hungry. So now I only have cold pizza.” Cold pizza and sadness–

“….So ya want some cold pizza?”

“I say we skip out on the cold pizza and go to DONUT WOLF!” Maybe going to one of their old favorite hangouts would cheer them both up a bit; clearly they needed it. Mae could tell her best friend wasn’t acting like his usual self. 

“We can totally walk there, we don’t need a car!” Walking was a healthy option! It wouldn’t take THAT long to reach the place... she hoped. “I have some cash on me.”

      SHE SNICKERS DEVILISHLY at her double .         how crude of her , yet , how ACCURATE of her .         she’s surprised to see that all her alternates are         scarily similar . the same wit , the same kind of         behaviour , the same … well . EVERYTHING .         she still thinks that there’s something off , but         otherwise , it’s just alone ‘ clone ‘ .

Was this SELF DEPRECATING in a weird way? Oh well, at the moment she didn’t care. This was interesting! Not to mention it was pretty fun, spouting off random insults at another person.

I mean, my family was never religious so I guess its not a big deal to them, but she shouldn’t get all mad like that.” he doesn’t get religion either, but he’s never tried to get it in the first place. “That’s weird though! You’re parents are usually really chill about stuff!” especially considering what kind of record both of them had. “Huh? Oh, yeah, they called him into work this morning. Was supposed to be both of ours first day off in like, forever, but ya know.” money came first.

“Sometimes me and my parents REALLY get into it. I’m glad you were never over when they went off. It doesn’t happen too often, thank GOD.” She shrugged her shoulders and made a face. “Really...? Aw, that sucks. You and Angus should have a day off together!”

You could totally crash on the couch–” he stops for a moment, face scrunching up as though in thought, then he shrugs, the grin returning to his face. “I don’t think Angus would mind either, he’s not home but if ya need somewhere to stay…” he trails off. “Soooo, what happened?” because something obviously did.

“It’s effing stupid! My mom found out I’m not religious and she thinks it’s the WORST THING in the world. She KNOWS I stopped attending church when I was sixteen or seventeen, I don’t see what the big deal is! She got pissed and then my dad got pissed so I decided to leave before things escalated.” Mae grumbled, rubbing her arm. “I just don’t GET religion. Anyway... is Angus at work, or...?”
