“everyone has their addictions, whats yours?”

while some people drink, smoke, take pills, eat, ect, ect

i read.

it is my addiction, even if it is such a weak one,

i escape this boring life of mine into the life of my favorite characters,

i get high off of the adventures they go on, 

get drunk on their reality, their fantasy world that is oh so much more than mine could ever hope to be,

i lose myself in the beautiful books i read,

for nothing appeals to me more than leaving this horrible story of my own, and of living the fascinating story of my comfort character instead.

to be *with* them,

even if i know deep down i can not truly be with them,

ignorance is bliss,

and nothing is easier to ignore than when you are in another reality, living your best life with the character that you wish to be.

so yes,

i do have a “weak” addiction,

even if it consumes every part of me and makes me loathe myself beyond repair.

we all have our faults, i suppose...
