Good morning I still have Thoughts on Crystal and the underepresentation latinos have in this fandom.

Like, I get it. There aren't as much of us, and when there are, some are rarely writers, so the "write what you want to see" thing sometimes doesn't work because of that.

But last season one of the most popular queens - hell, the most popular queen - was Puerto Rican and I rarely saw any content that mentioned Vanessa's heritage more than "she was a charming latina" or Vanessa calling Brooke mami. (But if there are, please point it out to me, I may have missed it because I don't read that much.)

Gimme a fic where you throw casually in the narration Vanessa talking about visiting her family in Puerto Rico, where she switches from English to Spanish in a heartbeat so she can freely mock someone because they don't know Spanish, or because she's getting a call from her mother who isn't that great with English still, gimme a fic where she's excited and bubbly because one of her cousins/nieces is having a quinceañera and it reminds her of her own, where she listens to latino artists just like she'd listen to american artists, where she tells stories about how her mom had a crush on Chayanne or Ricky Martin, or how when she was little her biggest fear was her mom's chancla.

Or, even better, gimme a fic with a pletora of latino characters in which each of them are proud of being latino and though they don't say it 24/7, they show it with little common actions like these. Because representation IS important, and as of today, latino representation in this fandom is lacking.

I almost cried during her lipsync bc like!! Idk growing up as a Middle Eastern person in America, you really don’t see a lot of representation from your culture, much less from queer-centric places. So to see Jackie talk about the effects of the Muslim travel ban on her family, relay the experience of being both queer and Middle Eastern, and go on the runway in a hijab and kaftan?
