New horror oc concept for a new story

A painter filled with bodily resentment and loathing dreams of a masquerade ball full of monsters the night after she paints her masterpiece. A sphinxlike being offers love and consumption and the offer is all too tempting.

The beast pinches a candle flame between its fingers. When its grip is released, a man now stands where it once was, baleful in the returned dim light.

"Hello Marcella," he says. "You look at me with hate and defiance once again. Why is that? Do you always hold such animosity towards us?"

He pauses.

"Nothing we do can redeem us in your eyes, can it?"

In a dark flowering theater, a mourning dove watches helplessly as a mockingbird Orpheus looks back at their Eurydice. Don't they realize what that meant? Don't they know what they did? She'll never come back now. How dare they. How dare they.

For a moment, the earth was silent. For the planet, it might've been months, years. Either way it was as good as dead.

One day a man offered his ribs and blood to an earth too shocked to drink and consume it. It was a wonder how one human was able to bleed so much and still breathe. But he loved the world. If his body would be used to revive it, he would give all he had.

His fruit was an offer worth dying for, and he took it graciously.

Somewhere far away he woke up again as something else.
