The NFL preseason is underway as of August 24, 2024, with a number of significant changes and actions occurring throughout the league
Preseason Play and Player Performance: With several starters expected to play in the final preseason games, teams are getting ready. For example, Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is anticipated to play one or two quarters in their preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. In the meanwhile, Jordan Love will play in the Green Bay Packers' last preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks alongside the starters, according to head coach Matt LaFleur's confirmation (NFL.com PFF).
Moves and Injuries on the Roster: Teams are still making roster cuts as they get ready to finalize their 53-man rosters. Among the notable transactions is the addition of defensive back Isaiah
Simmons from the Arizona Cardinals in return for a draft pick in the seventh round. Cornerback Prince Amukamara, who signed a one-day deal to retire with the Giants, also announced his retirement (NFL.com NFL.com).
Penei Sewell, the All-Pro lineman for the Detroit Lions, suffered a minor ankle injury, adding to the concern about injuries. However, it is unlikely to affect his availability for Week 1. Conversely, Allen Lazard, a wide receiver for the New York Jets, sprained his AC joint, although he should be ready for the season's first game (NFL.com PFF).
Teams are making last-minute tweaks as the preseason comes to an end, and fans are excited for the start of the regular season. Watch for updates as the final roster reductions and last-minute-minute trades could significantly impact the start of the 2024 NFL season.

The NFL is in full preseason mode as of August 22, 2024, with a number of significant updates grabbing media attention.
Moves in the Patriots roster: Prior to the regular season, the New England Patriots are finalizing their decisions. Interestingly, Javon Baker, a wide receiver selected in the fourth round of the draft, seems to have lost favor and been moved to the deep reserves. Baker's role may be small this season despite a poor receiving corps, indicating that he is more of a long-term prospect.
**New Orleans Injury Concerns:** Running back Kendre Miller has been fighting with injuries for the New Orleans Saints. The 2023 third-round pick has had trouble staying healthy, and his persistent absence from practice casts doubt on his prospects of making the team.
Dennis Allen, the head coach, has expressed his dissatisfaction and highlighted how tough it is to make the team out of the training room.
Preseason Games to Watch: Teams are adjusting their rosters for a number of preseason games scheduled for this week. The Indianapolis Colts should expect a stiff test from the Cincinnati Bengals, while the Kansas City Chiefs are the small favorites versus the Chicago Bears. Due to impending final roster cuts, these games are critical for players who are in the running.
The 2024 NFL season, which begins in a few weeks, could be impacted by these developments (Dunkel Index) (NBC Sports).
