Honestly though I really dislike the canon birth-dates for Peter and Neal- I feel like they wouldn’t be so close in age- even in the pilot episode it seems like Peter should be late 40s, 50 max- and Neal in his mid to late 20s - like just in their behavior and dynamic, it feels like there is an age gap there, and Neal is young, and Peter is middle aged.

I honestly feel like that Neal and Woodford could have become friends, maybe that just shows what a good conman Neal is.

there’s always another way - Neal’s motto, the way he lives his life.

I kind of find it really gross that Peter thinks that Neal should no longer love Rebecca because she’s a murder. Like Peter’s morality begins and ends with the law... something that will always bother me and make me not like him- I digress though. Rebecca being a murderer doesn’t change the fact that she loved Neal, and it doesn’t change the fact Neal loved her. It doesn’t mean he should stop loving her- it does mean he should be cautious around her, and that he’s in no position to forgive her actions, because that’s not his place... he’s still allowed to love her though. Even if that makes it tragic.

Neal and Keller’s relationship will always be so very interesting to me.
Keller and Neal being rivals always crossing the lines of friendly or antagonistic, over a girl no less, but Keller still feeling betrayed over Neal “turning Fed” because he thinks Neal true natural will always be to be a conman. Even if the Feds being in the picture makes his games with Neal more fun. Then there’s Neal who just really can’t stand Keller’s methods (using violence, and killing)... it’s still easy to see why they where once friends in the past though. Sometimes tells of old friendship can be seen- in their banter, the way the mess with and get under each other’s skin. They are too similar, and too opposite.
And Keller really not liking Peter, for multiple reasons (arresting him being one), but also because of Peter’s and Neals partnership and friendship, which was shown in season 6.
Keller just wanted Neal back the whole time, he was jealous everyone who was getting in the way- if Kate had Neal- and if he can’t have Neal, then he’ll take Kate. If Neal is close with Peter? Keller kidnaps Peter.... also locking Neal up in a truck full of treasure he was stealing was kind of poetic (yeah he probably took Neal as bargaining chip but still).
He misses the “good  of old days” of running cons and schemes with Neal, and he acts out of jealousy towards anyone who gets close to Neal, because he wants to be friends with him again but knows it’s not possible because while Neal misses his friendship he can not forgive Keller or get passes their darker history enough to even have wishful thinking about him, like Keller has for Neal.

Neal is an expert in forging; paintings, checks, bearer bounds, gems, antiquities, any kind of document and counterfeit money. Also is a smuggler, a thief, and a money launderer. Probably more. No violent crimes though. Nothing where people actually get hurt as a result of his crimes.
He a white collar crime expert, and genius. Multiple people have called him the worlds best conman.  He has 27 known aliases, he speaks 8 languages along with conversational Swahili. He is also very acknowledge-able about art, philosophy, history, music, writing- and more.

I will always like how Keller thinks that the time when he and Neal where friends where the “good old days” I do think he truly misses those days the most. It’s why he keeps coming back, it was never about Kate- it was just that if Neal wasn’t going to be his friend then so it be, rivals- enemies, let’s give Neal that instead. But I think he always did want to become friends again...
I don’t think he deserved to die.

gosh I really love the idea of Neal being in Paris with Gordon Taylor, because the series ended with Neal being in Paris- and in season 3 in stealing home Gordon still wanted to work with Neal wanting him to do  a job in Paris with him. It’s such  a great idea. Gordon Taylor and Neal Caffrey as partners post series.

I also wish Alder didn’t die at the end of season 2- I would have liked to have seen more of his and Neal’s relationship. or at least I would have liked to have seen it more greatly expanded upon. Like this is a very important figure in Neal’s past- Alder saying that Neal was like a son to him, Neal saying Adler made him the man who he is today (personally I feel like that gives Alder too much credit). This was a very important person in Neal’s past and the door to learn was closed when Alder was shot by Peter. I suppose this is what speculation is for.

I will always feel like Keller and Adler will always be right about Neal in some regards. They see that he loves the conman life style- that he loves the art, the heists, the cons- the people, everything that goes into it. Peter, El- everyone at the FBI that he’s close with see the good in him see the side that Adler and Keller don’t see.
But Neal is both these things, if there ever could be a good-man conman it’d be Neal.  Peter once said “You can either be a con or man you can’t be both” but I think Neal can be, and actually is both. I think June, Alex, and Mozzie are the ones who get the full picture. Peter to an extent too- but he’s too lawfully aligned to accept all of who Neal is, wanting him to choose just one side of himself and not embracing his full self.
I think Neal really likes that there are people who can see the good in him- and resents those who only see the bad in him. But in all the ones who are his friends are the ones who see everything.
Keller and Adler will always be the ones to understand his darker side, Peter will always understand his good side, but expect him to make the wrong choices- El who also sees his good side thinks Neal will make the right choices. But both sets of people want him to chose one side of him and one side alone to live by. I think Mozzie and Alex are the ones who might truly accept him without wanting him to change.

I really wish there could be a more official timeline for the history of the show and it’s characters, mostly revolving around Neal- because where are some discrepancies around his background, which makes sense if he’s lying- and yes he’s a conman lying about his age would be the least of what he has done.
The big thing based around the years given by certain characters and Neal himself- his 1977 year of birth is probably a lie, and he’s probably much younger than he claims to be, probably being born in 1984.
Ellen saying he left Witsec and moved to New York when he was 18, AND Neal telling Peter that he came to New York eight years ago (the time currently being 2010), so for Neal to be 18 in 2002 he’d have to have been born in 1984 and not 1977. This also means he would have only been 21 when sent to prison for the bond forgeries.
i could also be reading too much into this and maybe should just take things at face value, but Mozzie wouldn’t approve of that, lol.

In the deleted scenes for season 2 learning that Neal committed 7 multi-million dollar crimes in 12 months is amazing. Like go Neal you over achiever. And I mean that’s just one year out of a decade of committing cons, thefts, and forgeries. Although he was only convicted of 1 of the crimes he did which was bond forgeries... still, he kind of went all out.

Need To Know is probably my favorite episode of White Collar, or it’s in the top five... Free Fall in the Top five too, also Countermeasures- because June. Stealing home too. Vested Interest is also a good one. Au Revior too, so I guess it’s actually top 6. Maybe in this order -
Pilot & Au Revior (they gotta be a tie)
Need to Know
Stealing Home
Free Fall
Countedmeasures
Vested Interest.
