also something i was gobsmacked abt earlier and especially now after finishing the book... i was recommended some non-specialist essays one of which was entitled love and friendship. and in that essay the author used NARCISSUS AND GOLDMUND as an example of friendship that didn't qualify as love WHAT are u TALKING ABOUT DID YOU EVEN READ THE BOOK
