LANE CONTROL = PWNING

Alright LOL fans here are some tips I would like to share with you. I have nearly 2k wins and have nearly 200 wins over losses. Trust me when I say I know what I’m doing. First of all you must remember that LOL is a team based game. Team composition, builds, and how you work together matter. Sure you might pwn every now and then but my strategy tips are based on pros versus pros where each team member knows what they are meant to do and what they can do. Secondly, LOL is a strategy based game.

Here is one definition of strategy:

"The art of planning and directing overall military operations and movements in a war or battle"

I’m sure others will agree with me when I say a good strategy is the one that changes when necessary and considers what your team is capable of and what the other team is capable of. Here are some simple beginner tips that any beginner or so called pro should know or already know. This applies to any MOBA style game such as DOTA: Know your champions skillsKnow your allies skillsKnow your enemy’s skillsKnow what every build doesKeep one eye on the map at all times!You spot enemies faster on the mapYou can predict the direction where the enemy is going

Some advanced strategy tips:

Last Hitting – First of all you should understand the concept of “last hitting” a minion. Know that champions only get exp when an enemy minion dies. Gold is only awarded to you if you get the “last hit” or killing blow on a minion so whether you hit the minion 5-times or just 1 time for a “last hit” you will only gain something when a minion dies so if you are continually focused on pushing and your enemy is only focused on last hitting you both may gain gold and experience equally initally.

Know your enemy – Understand who your enemy is. Can your enemy defend their tower like a pro if you try to push (e.g. Heimer w/ 2 of his turrets). Are you able to even damage their turret if you push your minions there? (e.g. range players might be able to take a chunk from the tower each time the minions reach it and eventually push it down but a melee champ may not be able to against someone like Heimer.

Gaining experience – Understand that your champion, or the enemy champion, must be within a certain  range of a dying enemy minion to gain experience. If you can keep them out of range from a dying minion you can keep them from leveling. If they are able to keep you a certain distance from a dying minion then they can prevent you from leveling and we all know that the person with the higher level has the advantage.Now onto an advanced strategy guide:

Lane control – this is an advanced strategy that works more often than not when I am in a lane with someone who understands this concept. Try it out for yourself. Lane control is simply what it is; controlling your lane! When you have control of your lane you are able to control the pace of the game and force your enemy to react to your game style. How you play will always cause your enemy to react. If you are an easy kill then your enemy (if they are pro) will see that. If you are causing damage and harassing your enemy they will react by either tower hugging, dying, or recalling to base often allowing you to push.Control the bush, harass, keep your enemy out of range from gaining exp, last hit, push at the right now. and most importantly avoid taking damage.Why does this work?

Bush Control – If you can control the bush then your enemy will think twice before entering the bush or getting close enough to kill a minion in an attempt to gain gold or experience. You have the element of surprise to continually harass your enemy lowering their hp enough to either attempt for kill or forcing them back to safety and from gaining gold and exp.Harassing – Harassing and last hitting go hand in hand. Remember some champions can harass better than others. For instance a ranged champion or a champion with a ranged spell. Harassing lowers your enemy’s hp and a weakened enemy is one who is either easy to gank or weary enough to stay further away from you and your minions.If you can keep him far enough from your minions you can keep your enemy from gaining levels and/or obtaining gold while you continually last hit to gain gold and experience putting yourself at a great advantage.

Last hitting – The most important consideration is last hitting! How fast you push or how fast your enemy pushes determines how far in the lane you are which either puts yourself and your ally at risk of a gank or gives your teammate from a different lane an opportunity to gank the enemy if they are too far into your territory (the further they are the longer it takes for them to retreat to safety).If you are only focused on pushing consider the fact that your minions will eventually get to the enemy turret and will start giving your enemy experience at a much faster pace than yourself

Push at the right time – When implementing the previous strategies this is what usually happens; You out level your enemy, your enemy is weakened, and you have a better opportunity to gank or push (at the right time of course).So when is the right time? Let’s say you have harassed the enemy enough that they must recall back to base. Are your minions close enough to their turret so you can push and take a chunk out of it? That sounds like a good time. What if your minions have reached their turret but the enemy is weakened and trying to defend? You might be able to score and kill leaving their turret defenseless. That’s a good time as well. What if the enemy isn’t hurt but is staying to defend the turret? Well in that case if you followed my tips of harassing and keeping your enemy from leveling then you should be at a higher level giving you the opportunity to either attack the turret while withstanding their damage and then recalling back to base to buy.

Avoid taking damage - this is the most important tip to follow because if you avoid taking damage while dishing out hurt to your enemy you can stay in lane and have a lower chance of getting ganked while your enemy may need to recall or risk being killed.How to avoid taking damage?

Bush control – remember that if you hit the enemy champion their minions will focus their attack on you if you are within range and visible to them. Harass your enemy and retreat to the bush to prevent their minions from attacking you or harass your enemy and retreat far enough so their minions cease attacking you then move forward again to force the enemy far enough from gaining experience.Move around – moving around means the enemy has a harder time to target you. Move into the bush and you will not be visible for them to auto attack.So there it is. These are just some strategy tips which I can offer from my personal experience. There are too many variables to address so play the game and learn how to apply these strategies, but the one we like the most is LeagueFeed
