Feasibility and Budget for the Mooroo Mooroolbin Outdoor Library and Relaxation Space. Overall, the project seems to be feasible as it follows the client brief and is tracking in line with it’s budget.

Based on the 5 E’s of Experience Design (Conifer Research, 2003), this model allows me to plan each stage of my project to ensure an engaging experience for the community.

A beautiful example of a small-scale community maintained library. With a focus on “Take a Book, Leave a Book”, similar to the sustainable and reusable focus I would like the Northshore library and relaxation space to have.

Look at this cute little Free Library a few streets from my house!! I’m pretty sure its new because I’ve never seen it but it makes me happy!

“The Mooroo-Mooroolbin Outdoor Library” - Name to be Confirmed/Approved.
Digital Collage, 2021
“The Mooroo-Mooroolbin Outdoor Library” is a collage mood board which showcases all of the key elements inspiring this project including colourful shipping containers (iconic to Northshore), books, greenery, Indigenous Australian weaving and indigenous fish and turtle art made by local indigenous artists (historical Northshore species alongside Dugong, Shellfish and Mangroves). These elements create a distinct DNA for Northshore by mixing both Northshore history and Indigenous Northshore history.

The Logical Unsanity 24 Hour Bookshed
Located in Bardon, Brisbane, QLD
A 24hr library and bookshop run completely by donations and trust.
This low-maintenance shed, utilises shelving made from old styrofoam vegetable boxes or discarded government bookshelves, all furniture used is second-hand.
This is an inspiring example of how I would love the library to be run. Completely run and donated by the community with acknowledgments to Northshore and the Indigenous Turrbal Language’s rich history.

The Dja-Mandji Youth Space at Woodford Folk Festival.
Designed and built by Cave Urban 2019.
A structure made up by 18,000 linear meters of bamboo.
This amazing space is my main inspiration for my project. It’s so unique and inviting. In my opinion, it looks like the perfect space to grab a book to read and relax.

My third idea is the introduction of an outdoor library and relaxation space. It’ll be a great spot to encourage Northshore and Indigenous history. Although the process to design and build may be tedious, the unique design can be catered to Northshore’s DNA and lots of the resources can be found on site. There is also opportunities to utilise the creative builders business on site and source book donations locally to get more of the community involved.

Here is another example of when inner-city meets green and sustainable. This community farm is located in Vienna and is tended by the local kindergarten.

A raised bed community garden in Ahnersbergpark in Vienna
Each raised bed contains a plot for 1 or 2 people and all vegetables are organic and non supermarket bought seeds and seedlings.
The painted bed with the sun is tended by a local kindergarten.
They have plans to expand and are currently planting lots of fruit.

This garden/farm in inner-city London represents how through placemaking an urban location can be utilised to create a relaxing and sustainable destination.

Idea 2 is focused on a Native Australian Garden and Farm. This idea has alot of sustainability factors and is able to utilise and repurpose the leftover wood on site. However, there are many community gardens in Brisbane so it would be hard to differentiate it to make it a Northshore destination.

More Inspiration for the Pedal Boat Idea. This is at a pond in Tokyo - a safer more restricted environment.
tumblr
If you’re looking for something fun to do in Tokyo that most tourists miss, visit Ueno Park and make your way to Shinobazu Pond. It has rental boats, including swan-shaped ones that look super cute.

Idea One - Pedal Boats
After brainstorming pros and cons, despite this idea being innovative and unique, it may be too extravagant and more of a long-term project. Boat and Ferry Traffic and multiple other safety restrictions make this idea unreasonable and impractical.

The Key Northshore Stakeholders. By understanding who may be possible target consumers for this project, I am able to use placemaking to create a destination for this audience.
