The long album

There is something about the long album that atmosphere from something so drawn out that you can't get from something shorter. Although it's easier to ruin when it's done right it can be entrancing a wonderous soundscape laid before you like a barren land ripe to be revitalized. From the peaceful long frame ambient albums to the drone albums that slowly change to even longer forms of traditional styles that can take you into a live performance or show you something deeper about the context of the work. Most people are put off by long runtimes but to me, it gives that sense of intrigue so much more can be hiding inside.
