naomimultimuseornah:
James liked the concept of a big house. It was meant to have more people in it than him alone. It was build  with that idea in mind. Though even with the twins running around it still felt big. Incomplete. Though he seemed to have gained the ability to hope that one day another person would find herself in that big house of his.
When the time is right, however.
James could be oblivious at times. Though today was not one of those days and he figured out what she meant with those words. His smile widened and he held her closer.
“Thank you for being born Tina. And by doing so giving me the chance to meet you. Hold you as well.” He nuzzled in the crook of her neck to hide how wide his smile had become and continued. “You being on this earth is a blessing for all you surround yourself with. And I am more than blessed to have given the chance to know you. Happy birthday Tina.”
Tumblr media
~
Tina slid her arms around James' waist, expecting nothing more than a very nice hug and a solid answer. She almost pulled away the second he started talking to look at him, but stopped herself on time in case she looked shell shocked or something and made life harder for herself. She'd panicked on the spot too often to let herself do it again. Especially on her birthday when he was saying such heart-warmingly lovely things.
Oh, and there it was. That annoying tear pricking the corner of her eye. No one had ever thanked her for being born before. Or really for being around in general. She might have had a bit of a narcissism problem, but not once in her life did she feel like a blessing to anyone. In fact, Tina was pretty sure she had been called pain in the neck more often than she had been called her actual name. And here was James just... telling her all these things, and she hardly knew what to do with it. Added on to all that worry she had about making her friends happy, and that stupid fight she had with James not long ago, she was at a loss for words.
Tina was quiet for a moment, sniffling quietly into James' shoulder. Then she pulled her head back to flash him a teary grin. (She wasn't sad this time, just incredibly overwhelmed. No surprise there.)
"You got the answer right, you can have another kiss," she said softly, rising on her toes, so she could give James a kiss of her own. When she was quite done, she went back to the hug and sighed. "Thank you, James... For... everything."

naomimultimuseornah:
"In the worst case I’ll have a word with him.” James continued. “I have my ways of changing his mind.” He leaned into her touch before she left. Finishing the tea on his time. He took a moment to appreciate the view of Tina’s kitchen. It wasn’t the first time he’d seen it but he liked seeing it. Maybe because it just screamed Tina to him. Or generally that the kitchen was an opposite to his. less tight and organised. He liked that.
When he finished the tea he found himself following the music and chuckled. “You really went all out didn’t you?” Peter was missing out.
~
Tina grinned proudly when James emerged from the kitchen some time after she left him. She stood a little taller, making a sweeping gesture with one of her hands to highlight that everything was ready.
"It might come as a shock," Tina replied, folding her arms. "But I don't half-ass everything, you know." Sure, she seemed pretty lazy at work, but that was because a lot of the work was boring or tedious, or (other than the beds) too easy, so she didn't put much effort in. But when Tina had her mind set on something, she worked harder than anyone she knew. Her friends had learned to leave her alone when she was working on projects because she would become moody if her concentration was broken, or if it wasn't exactly how she wanted it. And with things that made her friends happy she usually put in just a little too much effort, with little thanks to show for it.
It was kind of exciting getting to show James that she actually could do something worthwhile if she tried. Or nerve-wracking. "Here," Tina continued, giving James the bathrobe and ushering him into the bathroom. "Your tea is finished, so now you just have to put this on and, like, chill out and stuff."

naomimultimuseornah:
He hadn’t really meant to sigh it just slipped before he could stop it. He did however have no intentions in stopping this spa day. If anything he might need it more than he was willing to admit to himself. As instructed he sat down and took a sip of the tea. It was perfectly to his taste, the right amount of honey.
"Yes, Tina?” He wondered what she was planning to do. And he frowned when he saw what she did. He looked at her as if he did not understand what the gesture meant.  He then nodded when he finally understood. “You are right.” He wasn’t really used to getting spoiled.
“Well it is only borrowed I am sure your boss doesn’t mind.” He said returning her wink with a tease. With that he finished drinking his tea.
~
Tina smiled hopefully, deciding that if James needed to talk about anything she would ask him later, when he was sufficiently relaxed and safe. She could see he was tense, probably hadn't slept much either, and this was the easiest way she could ease that off.
"I hope he doesn't, otherwise I'm in big trouble," Tina joked, squeezing James' shoulder before leaving the kitchen. She left him to his tea, bringing in some comfortable pillows from her bedroom, the robe and the kit that she was going to be using. It didn't look anything like a spa, but there simply wasn't room in her apartment, nor could she imagine forking out the cash for one of those ugly spa chairs. For good measure, Tina put on some quiet, nondescript music that she liked to listen to when trying and failing to relax herself. It was not spa approved, but she was going for a vibe.

naomimultimuseornah:
It was a bit strange with the way she was asking. If anything he prefered her usual teasing manner. But for the sake of the spa day he decided to not comment on it and just play along.
‘The plan is’ James listened with a lot of interest, curious to what she had planned. “Tea does sound nice.” Work had been hard lately. A lot of talks with investors and reliving some things of his past life he rather wished to forget. That combining with his mother visiting him, her relationship with Ian going downhill lately. It was only a matter of time before he leaves her and she finds herself taking it out on James again. Without realizing he sighed deeply and then flinched. “Sorry I have a lot on my mind lately.” He admitted. The burnmarks were just healing.
He let her pull him into the kitchen and he smiled at the sight. It was very much cheesy. But once again he didn’t comment on it. “Thank you."
~ Tina was taken off guard by James' sigh, and the brief flinch that flashed across his features. She worried for a moment that he didn't want to go along with her plan after all and was just being nice, but then decided to ignore that worry and make sure she did an even better job than she was already going to. She prompted him to sit down once in the kitchen, giving his hand a squeeze first. The burns went unnoticed by now because she hadn't looked at his hands.
"Hey, James...." Tina started with a soft smile. She reached a hand toward his head, then made a gesture as if catching in the air, like a fly or a feather. It might not have seemed much, but her thinking was that she was trying to catch whatever was worrying him. "We can leave this by the door for now." Tina then made a show of throwing the worry back into the hall. He had taken care her a million times by now, the least she could do was return the favour.
"Now, have a seat, drink some tea. When you're ready, I have a robe that I may or may not have borrowed from the hotel that you can slip into. Just don't tell my boss." She accented the last part with a wink.

naomimultimuseornah:
"Why not?” James was surprised to hear Tina reject the idea of a nap. Didn’t she nap in all sort of places while on duty. She had more hiding spots in Neverland than he did in his lifetime. James was also awfully aware that his job was not particularly interesting. Heck even he didn’t like doing all the calculations.  “We have to make beds right. It is not the first time you tried to take a nap in one of the beds.” He had seen it with his own eyes before.
He gave her a bit of an odd look. It seemed like he did not understand what she was thinking. It was at times like this when James wished to be born a mindreader. There were days where he believed to know Tina.  Yet on days like this it felt like he had to deal with a creature that had two heads.  Both equally annoying.
“So do you have a better idea?” James asked, voice dripping with annoyance.
~
Tina, in her rampage, was ready to continue arguing, but she had to concede the point. Yes, she did like a good nap, and she did have to make the beds. So it was only logical that she had a nap in lieu of doing any real work, that she didn't want to do in the first place. And it wasn't like she was going to get into trouble for it this time around, was she?
She was already thinking of the perfect napping spot!
"You raise a fair point," she stated with a stubborn little huff. It did occur to her that she had never caught Hook sleeping on the job. It seemed awfully hypocritical of him to even suggest a nap, given how many times she had been caught (in her less creative hideouts) and been given into trouble for it.
Tina tapped her foot on the ground, trying to think of any idea better than just straight up having a nap. She had already suggested all of her best ideas, and they had all been shot down, so it seemed she might just have to give in, as much as she didn’t like to do that. Ever.
“You didn’t like any of my ideas,” Tina grumbled. “So no. I guess I don’t.”

naomimultimuseornah:
The clumsy movement Tina made were getting a bit annoying, yet James supposed it was part of how she expressed herself. The whole situation was getting on his nerves and he found himself taking the time to think how they could get the handcuffs off.
When she asked him about his work he sighed. "Paperwork, basically I have to count the spendings and earnings of Neverland.” Spendings included her payment as well. He groaned. He too didn’t feel like doing anything.
“What if we ditch the place and go to a shop to get some tools to get this off?"
He tskt at her when she said she had her own opinions. Bullshit. She hated him only because Peter did. She had no reason to hate him so in the end she blindly followed Peter’s opinions.
"Let’s take a nap somewhere I am not in the mood to do anything right now.”
~
"Wow, your job is really boring, huh?" Tina asked, a sound of faux sympathy and the hint of a laugh coating her voice. Tina was not known for her ability to sit still for long stretches of time. Her job, though soul-destroying, could at least be a little more physical, and she could move around just enough to rid herself of pent-up energy if she needed to. "I never thought I would say this, but I'd rather do my jobs first."
The suggestion to go find a way to cut off the cuffs was like music to her ears, and she nodded her head rapidly in agreement. "That sounds like a fantastic idea!! I'll bet Kristoff has something that could chop these babies right off."
An eye roll followed when James followed up by suggesting a nap first. That didn't sound very comfortable! "A nap?" Tina repeated, laughing quietly. "Are you serious?"

naomimultimuseornah:
Perhaps it was due to James being a man he could never consider himself physically hurting a woman. Though if it was to save a friend he would at least restrain her. It was naive to think women were not capable of hurting men, something he learned after speaking to a drunk and crying Adam. It was quite unsettling to know what that man went through. Though it was not his story to tell. Therefore he pretended he had no knowledge about it in the first place. Something Adam had silently appreciated. At times Adam reminded him of Flynn, both men were too soft hearted for their own good.
He raised an eyebrow when Tina loud heartedly yelled: “No!” James however would not change his mind the quickest way to get rid of these wasn’t the most fun way. They simply had to pretend that they could be civil enough to get along. A hard shore for someone who spoke her mind every 5 seconds.
“It will go quicker with the both of us. You can decide my work first or your work first.” Neither option sounded very pleasant to him.
He rolled his eyes when she pulled the blame on him and his voice dripped with sarcasm: “Ah yes, I am clearly to blame it is not like I am biased by my best friends opinion into hating someone I barely know.” Okay maybe her remark had rubbed him the wrong way and he was actually annoyed. “Let’s go to work.” He mumbled once more.
~
Tina jutted out her lower lip in a pout. She tried to cross her arms in defiance but found that didn't work because James' much heavier arm was now in the way! Instead, she had to settle by placing her hands on her lips (which also wasn't comfortable, but was better than nothing.)
"Well, what's your work?" Tina asked sceptically, electing to make an informed decision for once in her life. If she was going to go through hell, she at least wanted it to be the better hell of the two. Her work wasn't especially fun, but what if James' was worse?! She couldn't have that. And perhaps, knowing what her own job was, she could figure out a way to either annoy James until he cut off his arm instead of concentrating on it, or come up with a miraculous solution to get the cuffs off.
Tins shot a glare up at James. It was none of James' business how or why Tina formed opinions, she thought. She could think as she pleased, it had nothing to do with Peter. "I can form my own opinions, thank you very much. And I hate on my own terms, so… So-- Nh!" Tina punctuated the statement by sticking out her tongue. It seemed that Tina was cursed to be pissed off at the whole world after one person (Mr. Smee) inconvenienced her.
"Can't we just not work instead?"

Comforting Cuddles Starters
“Noooo don’t leave me, my pillow!”
“I need a hug. A six hour one.”
“I have pillows, blankets, supreme comfort, and all that’s missing is you.”
“This is an intricately constructed blanket fort. It’d be a shame if it went to waste.”
“Mmmm… no getting up, only cuddles.”
“My personal space isn’t shared with just anyone.”
“Holding hands has been perfected. Now to the next step.”
“I could play with your hair for hours.”
“You’re more comfortable than the couch.”
“My torso isn’t exactly a pillow you know.”
“I suppose I should just forget about getting up huh?”
“I can tell you’re upset. Do you need anything right now?”
“Not the best with words, but I’m told I’m great with a hug.”
“It’s okay, you don’t need to talk now.”
“I just need someone else here, right now.”
“No words just quiet, please…”
“I had an important appointment later but… you only live once. I can cancel.”
“Yes I had the day off. No you can’t prove I took it off for you. The only way to find out is by spending it all with me.”
“One of us is starting to fall asleep.”
“Mmmmphf… that’s what I think about that.”
“Were literally all the cushions taken for this project?”
“We’re comfortable now, but unfortunately someone left the hot drinks in the other room.”
“Someone has to make the greatest sacrifice of getting up out of this warm cocoon.
“You’re making a face. I know that face. It won’t work, I will resist it.”
“I will keep making this face at you until you falter and give in.”

gently pressing your head against your lover’s back while they cut vegetables, your lover sitting on the kitchen counter while you talk about your day at work and wait for the water to boil, giving them little pecks while they stir the vegetables, eating the food together, washing the dishes together… you know what i mean

naomimultimuseornah:
-
James shrugged, though he was a bit disappointed how anti-climax that story had sounded. So a bloke had bothered her at a party and she put the record straight. It wasn’t as exciting as running away from the police as a teen and having his ass dragged back to the orphanage. Saving a damsel in distress because a guy kept forcing her into things that she didn’t want to. Knocking some teeth out in the bar. Youngsters surely had calmed down in the time period he was a teen himself.
Perhaps they worried too much about their employment, something he eventually started caring for when he ended up homeless.
The dragging was getting a bit annoying, and eventually James decided to stand and not move an inch. “Smee can’t hide forever, let’s just go back to work.” His murder intent had died down when he realized the amount of work he had to do. “Come on Tina, we don’t have all day, perhaps if we fake that we can behave ourselves Smee will let us go. It will be a nice way to show your acting talent again.” He teased her.
“Since you are quite gifted at that.” He had seen her flirt with Smee after all, it was both amusing and cringy to watch. “Don’t you ever get bored of teasing people?”
~
It was a good thing Tina couldn’t hear Hook’s thoughts, as he didn’t seem too impressed by the story, and accident or not she was quite proud of herself for it. She might have played it up a little more had she known, or huffed that it was a totally cool thing! As she and her friends grew older, she tended to turn her violence more toward other girls, and generally used her cunning to outsmart boys instead (or trick the Lost Boys into fighting for her, where she cooed them on from the side.) Girls were much easier to take down; they had long hair to pull and jewellery to latch on too. Boys were too brutish and could flatten her if they wanted to.
Still, she wasn’t above it all. She had just grown a little cleverer.
A loud, over-exaggerated groan escaped Tina’s lips when Hook stopped dead in his tracks, because she didn’t really have enough strength to budge him from the spot. “No!” Tina bellowed, trying to push the cuff from her wrist again. “I can’t do work at the best of times, never mind having you attached to me!” James was being entirely logical in his suggestion of course, but Tina was annoyed that she hadn’t thought of it herself, so wouldn’t take it.
Tina blew a piece of hair out of her face, disguising a sigh. “I was behaving myself,” she insisted, rolling her eyes. “It’s you that’s the problem, clearly.” She had to admit, however, that the prospecting of showing off her acting skills was a tempting one. Perhaps she could make a game of it! Finally, Tina shrugged her shoulders, sticking her nose high into the air. “Of course I don’t get bored of it. Otherwise, I would have stopped by now. But… Fine, I will try to be civil.”

naomimultimuseornah:
~
Well James couldn’t be prouder. “You broke someone’s nose?” There was a slight hint of both intrigue and curiosity. “Why? Did they give you a bad look, insulted Peter?” There were a few things James could imagine what the cause could be, but it either involved herself, or Peter and his friends. What did she call them again? Lost boys? A tomboyish smile made it on his face. He had to laugh as Tina just started to drag him. “Wait Tina, maybe we should have a plan. After all these cuffs will slow us down. It’s better to lock Smee up somewhere so he can’t run.” He thought for a moment. “And we still have no weapon, if we use a knife we are bound to get fingerprints, so if we are going to kill him we might want to think about how.” Well there were enough methods he could think off. All not pleasant ways to die.
~
“Yeah!” Tina chirped, but she grimaced when he asked why. She hadn’t meant to break the guy’s nose. In fact, she hadn’t been aiming for his nose at all. She was roughly 14 at the time, drunk at a house party, and had had quite enough of him stumbling all over her. So she threatened to punch him, prompted by one or two of the Lost Boys, and tried to call his bluff by throwing a punch near his face. But he stumbled at the wrong moment and the rest was history. Obviously Tina wasn’t going to admit it was an accident right now. She had been in plenty of fights where she had punched people since. “A guy was annoying me at a party. So I punched him, and he didn’t do it again.”
Tina didn’t stop trying to pull him along. Her brain (and emotions) worked far too quickly to ever consider making a plan before throwing herself head first into something. Murder or not. “A plan? We don’t need a plan! I’m pretty sure you get a worse prison sentence if you commit pre-meditated murder, rather than killing in the heat of passion. Right?” Actually, she had no idea, but she didn’t really care at this point. He was kind of right though: the cuffs would slow them down, and Smee would quite obviously know they were coming for him and try to escape.
Eventually Tina gave up pulling and stopped in her tracks. And she huffed. (God, being attached to someone was proving quite tiring already.) Her ideas were just a little too gory to voice, and probably not very feasible given the arm situation.
