some takeaways from the matt and jake q&a:
-matt plays piano in his spare time; he tried guitar but found it too hard
-jake (who was phil’s stick boy in college) remembers the first time phil played against wisconsin (his former team): phil held a hand up to his ear when he cellied while the crowd booed. jake said phil’s always been as funny as he is now.
-jake steers clear of sid during game days because he doesn’t know all of sid’s superstitions and doesn’t want to mess any of them up

Part I
Sidney unconsciously held Lyosha a little tighter as they neared customs. He was dragging his feet; every inch closer to the exits was another inch closer to his empty little apartment in Laval. He would have offered for Geno to stay there, and then maybe it wouldn’t have felt so empty, but Geno mentioned on the plane that had already rented a place in Montréal. He had talked about how excited he was to finally see it…and Sid had tried not to feel disappointed about how far away it was from his own apartment. It was all pointless, really. No matter how much they looked like a family standing in this line, Sidney had to constantly remind himself that he’d only known these people for a few hours.

A good thread on whether “queer” is a slur and if it should be used or not.

“As athletes, we live a life that leads us to think we’re invincible and lets us believe that we’re bigger than injuries. But the truth is, we’re not. I tried to block out the fear associated with my condition. I told myself, I’m a hockey player. Hockey players are tough. They’re supposed to be tough. And I’d like to think that we are. Sometimes though, you can’t ignore the real signs that your body is sending you. I know that I couldn’t keep doing what I was doing, but that didn’t mean I accepted it. I fought it. It drove me nuts, actually. It was in the back of my head for a while. Then it happened – I had to let go. It’s really ironic, looking back, that making the decision was going to be the toughest moment for me as a hockey player in my hockey career. Walking away, choosing to put hockey aside, was far more scarier than playing with my condition on the ice.”

“He’s a 57 year old fuckwit. He shot – he is – he shot three people at an abortion clinic, ‘cause he was pro life. How can you be pro life and shoot someone?” – Russell Howard on the man who attacked an abortion clinic in Colorado. [x]

Okay.
Spider-man Noirs timeline takes place in 1933.  I don’t believe his age is stated in the movie (though I may be wrong), but Aunt May and Uncle Benjamin can be assumed to be in their 40′s-50′s since they’re usually starting to grey by the time we see Peter.  This means that they would be young adults in the 1910′s and surrounding years.  Why is this important?
Because the song “I’m A Member of The Midnight Crew” by Eddie Morton came out in 1909.
Imagine Spider-man Noir showing Miles some of the songs that his aunt and uncle used to play when he was a kid, songs that they’d dance to just as wildly as when they were a young couple fresh in love until they’d worn holes in their shoes—and with almost no fanfare, he puts this record on.
And Miles Morales, a teenage artist in the year of our lord 2018 who has definitely read Homestuck at some point in his life, will have a choice to make.

Sullivan said that the coaching staff has had Schultz sit in on all of their meetings to try and keep him in the loop as much as they can and around the team as much as they can as he works to return to the lineup.
“I think he’s had an amazing attitude the whole time,” Sidney Crosby said. “He comes in here and works hard and you can tell he’s happy to be around the guys. It’s tough when you’re hurt and not really practicing with guys, traveling, things like that. So just to be around a little bit more has been good and it’s been great for us to see him. And to know that he’s out there, that’s a good step. It means he’s progressing and things are going well and that’s all you can ask for.”
