Thank you for thinking of me!!! I am now invested 👁👄👁
Unconventional
A/N: Okay, so here’s the Eris-Nesta Friendship (but still Def Nessian) Fanfic that I’ve started drafting about a couple months ago, but went back to it just last week while cleaning up some of my file in folders. So anyway, I hope you guys like it. Thanks for those who have liked, reblogged and have shown interest on this fic. I appreciate it very much and you have no idea how much that means to me. :)
Chapter 1
When Beron Vanserra died, the crown was instantly passed to his eldest son Eris. How he died and to whose hands he had, was never questioned by anyone, any more. What everyone was concerned, and intrigued for that matter, was what’s in store for the future of Autumn Court under its new leadership.
The dead was honored, traditions was observed, the people of the Autumn court grieved, and High Lords from all other courts sympathized with them. But as they say, the end of an era, is a beginning of another. And so, after all the of mourning, a celebration is very looked forward to.

Okay but did you see that podcast Sarah j maas did and she talked about the nessian book and said that nessian is endgame and there are lots of sex scenes?
Hi, no I didn’t see the podcast and only found out that Nessian has been confirmed as endgame from another ask.
But if that’s true then I’m probably going to commit to my plan of not reading the Nessian book.
As much as I love Nesta I’m just not sure I can stomach Cassian with Nesta. I’m too invested in Eris and Nesta being together now, aha. Plus, I feel like I’ve gone off of S.J.Maas, which is a shame because her concepts are good, she has some great characters and is a good writer but I feel like she has been doing each of these things injustices in her work lately. And I also feel like sex scenes aren’t necessary tbh, I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen but you don’t have to write every detail and none of it has ever added to the story. I was able to completely skip over the scenes like this included in her last book and I didn’t miss anything plot wise or in character development so what was the point in them?

I don't know if you heard but Nessian is endagame and I'm so sad.
Noooooooo!!! Sorry, I didn’t hear, thank you for telling me! I’m so upset😭 but if that’s the case I don’t think I’m going to read the books. I’d rather live on in my world of possibilities for the characters I like then read a book that is potentially just going to ruin the rest of the series for me :(

I HAVE A QUESTION!!!
Do you have to read the Shadow and Bone Trilogy before you read King of Scars or nah?
I’ve read Six Of Crows and absolutely loved it. It’s definitely one of my favourites and I’m hoping to enjoy this one but don’t know if I have to read the other trilogy first.
Can somebody please let me know, if this is possible without becoming completely confuzzled?

So I’m pretty sure Papa Archeron is the only person to have ever told Netsa he loved her. I doubt her mother, described as cold and uncaring, ever told either of the girls she loved them and if Feyre and Elain are like my sibling, they probably didn’t either - not because they don’t care for Nesta but probably because their current relationship made it hard and scary to share their sisterly love.
So her father told her he loved her. And died right after. Just imagine how hard that must have impacted her - she, who always believed her father didn’t care enough for them and who probably never thought someone could ever really love her, was proven wrong and finally had someone who explicitly told her he loved her just to lose that person right after.

I agree wholeheartedly.
I also didn’t like the way that when Feyre confronted her about it (the azriel thing) slightly she used her sexuality as an excuse.
I have nothing against her bisexuality, I have an issue with the way she only brings it up to defend her actions of emotionally manipulating others.
Azriel is one of my faves and I think he deserves better than the IC, especially Mor, Cassian, Feyre and even Elain.
Unpopular opinion: I don’t like Morrigan
So when we first met Morrigan in ACOMAF, I was pretty sure she was going to be one of my favorite characters. She seemed so kind and legit (plus my name is Morgan) so I was 10/10 prepared to love this chick.
You know how some characters you like, even though they have deep flaws or questionable characteristics? You want to see them grow or you can still just appreciate them– even if you don’t agree with their thoughts or choices.
After ACOWAR, Mor was not like that for me. Out of all of SJM’s characters, she’s the only one I couldn’t care less about reading more of her story. It’s so disappointing in a way.
Some reasons why I think that may be *deep breath* :
I don’t like her personality; probably because she’s a big feeler and majority of her reactions are emotionally driven (balance is good…)
I don’t like how she treats Nesta. Even if I understand her dislike of the woman, Nesta has never done anything to Mor personally, and yet Mor intentionally treats her badly (this goes back to point #1)
I don’t like how she is possessive of Cassian and Azriel. Not protective, possessive. If you notice, all the little social situations where she puts herself between Cassian and Nesta, she does it in a way that makes Cassian have to choose her. Like, she can’t just redirect the situation, Mor has to have his attention for herself
And finally….the big one…I abhor how she treats Azriel. She has contributed to his emotional abuse and insecurities for most of his life, and even though he has some responsibility in letting her have that power, Mor refuses to be honest with him. I think we can all agree, she doesn’t need to tell him about her sexuality in order to have an open conversation with him about where they stand. In ACOWAR, she mentions she’s had moments she’s pictured wanting a life with Az, but honey. it’s been hundreds of years and abundantly clear you don’t want that.
(making this the last bullet point because I’m ranting now) It’s SO ironic to me her gift is Truth, but she’s never had the integrity to be honest with Azriel. We don’t really see her intentionally leading him on, per se, but because they are intensely close as confidants and friends, she has let him hope and consciously hurts him by making it obvious she’d rather sleep with other people like Helion. What a bitch move. (And people say Nesta acts like a bitch….Mor is supposed to be exponentially older and wiser).
So maybe it’s a combination of my personal dislikes of certain personalities and the fact that I’m supposed to like her character as part of the inner circle. Because a lot of SJM’s characters are problematic and have major flaws but I love them regardless. I just wish SJM had made her more well-rounded and likable.

You really have me thinking of all the delicious drama Nesta X Eris could bring. Imagine Morrgains reaction. the irony of Eris refusing to marry her because if her losing her virginity and marrying Nesta whos been doing not so holy things. Oh the slap to the face for her would be real. Feyra and Rhys dislike him too. omg the drama. Im living!!! I actually might be pissed if she gets with Cassian now.
Ahahaha I know!!! I love it!!! I have no idea how I’m going to feel about a Nessian book because if you ask me it’s too messed up but Nesta and Eris have a clean slate.... it has plenty of potential😉😏😁

Heeey, of things you would like, and things you would not want to happen to Nesta in the next book?
Aha thank you for this ask!! I really enjoyed answering it even though you may not agree with all my answers🤗I’m happy to answer any further questions you may have for me from my answers and I may add to them as I think of more.
Things that I don’t want to happen to Nesta in the next book:
Nessian
Her apologising to others
Mor manipulating more situations
Nesta letting Elain’s behaviour towards her slide. And Feyre’s. And Cassian’s. And Mor’s. And Rhys.
Things that I want to happen to Nesta in the next book:
Accept herself
Find her own inner circle
Never feel intimidated by others
Come into her power
Grieve her father and confront all her feelings about him.
Talk about her mother.
Show her visiting their graves
The beginning of neris/nerista/erista (I’m thinking a healthy slow burn)
Healthy relationships
Confront the others on their isolation of her and on how they treated her.
Not accepting anyone’s BS
Having a completely terrifying familiar that never accepts anyone else, especially not Cassian. Not even Elain. It’s completely hers and only tolerates others. Barely.
For her to learn enough to defend herself and not rely on others but usually save herself by her own wits rather than through physical force.
Leave the Illyrian war camp and claim a place that’s completely her own.
Create a home for herself, completely comfortable, cozy and all her own design with little trinkets reminding her of those she loves (including the wooden carvings of from her father)
To bond with the librarians in every court.
Start a book club in the prison that the Bone Carver was kept in.
Say goodbye to Cassian, even if he apologises.
In fact don’t fully accept anyone’s apologies. But if she does she would forgive but not forget or let things slide.
Not give any member of the IC her complete trust.
Bond with Azriel. I feel like they could have a really good platonic friendship.
Also have friendships with Lucien, Tamlin and those from the winter court.
Have friends from the ‘lesser’ areas of velaris.
Become High Lady in her own right. (Not through marriage, but I won’t turn down her eventually gaining the title of High Lady if the Autumn Court)
Show her ‘creative talent’ if Elain can grow and bake and Feyre can paint then Nesta has a talent.
Find out what’s going on with her and Amren.
Hear her give a full musically lilting belly laugh and watch as a room turns and falls into stunned silence from her bright joy filled smile and sounds.
Come back to a healthy weight

At some point in the books did you feel a lot of anger from Nesta or any of the persongens? What do you think Nestha thinks about IC? I particularly do not think she does not like them, just does not feel comfortable with them. Good morning ❤
Tumblr media
I love this question.
I would agree, I do not think that Nesta does not like them. I would rather say that she does not trust them. First of all, when Nesta was just a child, she was told about monsters and cunning, cruel, terrible faeries living behind the wall,  on the mysterious lands of Prythian. She did not know about Amarantha or the King Hybern, but she knew about the blessed children, who were obsessed with faeries and worshiped them as the living Gods. And I fell in love with Nesta after reading this scene in the first chapters, when I saw her fire, her resistance to fate, her desire to be free.
“The young woman’s unbound dark hair gleamed in the morning light, and her clean, fresh face glowed as she smiled prettily. There were five other acolytes behind her, young men and women both, their hair long, uncut—all scanning the market beyond for young folk to pester.
“It would take but a minute,” the woman said, stepping into Nesta’s path.
It was impressive—truly impressive—to see Nesta go ramrod straight, to square her shoulders and look down her nose at the young acolyte, a queen without a throne.
“Go spew your fanatic nonsense to some ninny. You’ll find no converts here.”
The girl shrank back, a shadow flickering in her brown eyes. I reined in my wince. Perhaps not the best way to deal with them, since they could become a true nuisance if agitated—
Nesta lifted a hand, pushing down the sleeve of her coat to show the iron bracelet there. The same one Elain wore; they’d bought matching adornments years ago. The acolyte gasped, eyes wide.
“You see this?” Nesta hissed, taking a step forward. The acolyte retreated a step.
“This is what you should be wearing. Not some silver bells to attract those faerie monsters.”
“How dare you wear that vile affront to our immortal friends—”
“Go preach in another town,” Nesta spat”.
This scene shows her will, her strong character, her desire to protect. And by the way, even in the very first chapters Nesta was trying to protect Feyre.
“Then a slender hand clamped onto my forearm, dragging me away. I knew it was Nesta before I even looked at her.
“They’re dangerous,” Nesta hissed, her fingers digging into my arm as she continued to pull me from the mercenary. “Don’t go near them again.”
I stared at her for a moment, then at Elain, whose face had gone pale and tight.
“Is there something I need to know?” I asked quietly. I couldn’t remember the last time Nesta had tried to warn me about anything; Elain was the only one she bothered to really look after.
“They’re brutes, and will take any copper they can get, even if it’s by force.”
I glanced at the mercenary, who was still examining her new pelts. “She robbed you?”
“Not her,” Elain murmured. “Some other one who passed through. We had only a few coins, and he got mad, but—”
You know, Nesta might not say warm and gentle words, she can be rude, because she is trying to maintain her false mask of indifference and arrogance, but she really cares about Feyre.
Feyre seems to me more like a child, who is not trying to understand another person. And even Amren says that Nesta is difficult to understand. She is a person, who needs to be judged by actions and deeds. And her actions are brave, full of courage and determination.
Oh, Nesta is such a fantstic character!
Members of the Inner Circle treat Nesta with some kind of cold contempt. They are not trying to understand her. Therefore, I would call Mor and Rhysand as the main aggressors here.
Azriel is silent, Cassian accepts the policy of pacifism, and never protects Nesta. Cassian never stood up for Nesta before Rhysand, he silently watches as members of the Inner Circle condemn her for debauchery, drinks and lechery. As if her despicable wantonness tarnished the reputations of all of them.
However, I always try to put myself in her place. She found herself in an unknown place, surrounded by unknown people, she does not know these people - and met with them only for the sake of Feyre and Elain, only for the sake of her people and those, who lived behind the wall in poverty and hunger.
I think it is natural not to trust them.
She fears for Elain, for Feyre, who is in the hands of enemies, and Nesta turned into a monster - we don’t know what kind of powers she posses, but she carefully hides these powers from everyone else. Nesta admits in the novella that things break around her, when Cassian is nearby. With only one hand she destroyed the entire legion of the King’s army. She does not know, how to control this power, but if this power is really death, then it is natural for Nesta to keep as far away as possiblefrom those she loves.
“I will never forget those moments,” Cassian said quietly, scenting or sensing the memories wreaking havoc on me. “As long as I live.”
“Have you seen any glimpse of it since?”
“Nothing.” The House loomed, golden lights at the walls of windows and doorways beckoning us closer. “But I can feel it—sometimes.”
“Usually when she’s pissed at me. Which is … most of the time.”
“Cassian. No matter that she could scarcely stand to be around him. No matter that she had once, long ago, in a mortal body and in a house that no longer existed, let him kiss her throat. Being near him made her want to shatter things.
As her power sometimes did, unbidden. Secretly”.
”My sisters had been living in the House of Wind since they’d arrived in Velaris.
They did not leave the palace built into the upper parts of a flat-topped mountain overlooking the city. They did not ask for anything, or anyone”.
“I wanted to see you,” I said quietly. “See how you were doing.”
“See if I’ve accepted my lot and found myself grateful for becoming one of them?”
I steeled my spine. “You’re my sister. I watched them hurt you. I wanted to see if you were all right.”
A low, bitter laugh. But she turned to Cassian, looked him over as if she were a queen on a throne, and then declared to all of us, “What do I care? I get to be young and beautiful forever, and I never have to go back to those sycophantic fools over the wall. I get to do as I wish, since apparently no one here has any regard for rules or manners or our traditions. Perhaps I should thank you for dragging me into this’.
And, if you notice, the members of the Inner Circle are always trying to hurt her, somehow, even Cassian supports Mor.
“Mor blinked, but confided to me with a wince, “I think we’re going to need a lot more wine.”
Nesta’s spine stiffened. But she said nothing.
“I’ll raid the collection,” Cassian offered, disappearing through the inner hall doors too quickly to be casual.
Nesta stiffened a bit more.
Teasing my sister, poking fun at her… I snatched a seat at Nesta’s side and murmured, “They mean well.”
Nesta just ran a finger over her ivory-and-obsidian place setting, examining the silverware with vines of night-blooming jasmine engraved around the hilts. “I don’t care.”
However, if you reread this scene in the third book, you will understand that Nesta is eyeing everyone. She listens to their conversations, but does not participate in the conversation. She is embarrassed and running her fingers along the lace patterns on the chair, silently watching.
“Nesta was watching the volley of words as if it were a sporting match, eyes darting between us. She didn’t reach for any food, so I took the liberty of dumping spoonfuls of various things onto her plate”.
I also believe that Feyre was wrong about Nesta. For Nesta to talk about what happened to her, when she was inside the Cauldron worse than rape or abuse. It is extremely difficult to open her heart and soul to someone, to strangers, so I understand her reaction.
“I angled my head.
“I understand that what happened to you was horrible—”
“You have no idea what it was or was not. None. And I am not going to grovel like one of those Children of the Blessed, begging High Fae who would have gladly killed me as a mortal to help us. I’m not going to tell them that story—my story.”
“The High Lords might not believe our account, which makes you a valuable witness—”
Nesta shoved her chair back, chucking her napkin on her plate, gravy soaking through the fine linen.
“Then it is not my problem if you’re unreliable. I’ll help you with the wall, but I am not going to whore my story around to everyone on your behalf.”
She shot to her feet, color rising to her ordinarily pale face, and hissed, “And if you even dare suggest to Elain that she do such a thing, I will rip out your throat.”
Her eyes lifted from mine to sweep over everyone—extending the threat.None of us spoke as she left the dining room and slammed the door shut behind her”.
Oh, the next book is going to be awesome. I like this aggression, her fantastic courage. Nesta is going to be a new Lara Croft!

Petty Illyrian Males
Sorry this post most likely doesn’t make any sense, but....
I’m just sat here wondering which Illyrian (in a position of power amongst the Illyrian civiliasation) was burned so badly by a witch that he decided that his people should all consider Witches to be bad and feared. Hell maybe even evil, if I was to guess from the signs against evil shown against Nesta, by the Illyrian Lords.
Illyrian Male way of thinking from this point onwards (probably): ‘All witches are women. And witches are powerful. So, if an Illyrian woman is powerful, she must be a witch, right?’
This could have then developed over time and affected the way women were treated amongst the Illyrian people. Not an excuse, just a thought.
(I may edit and change this post at a later date, or post about this again, if my brain finds a better way to articulate these thoughts onto the page. Sorry🤷🏼‍♀️😅😂)

I can’t help but agree. I think that Emery should lead the Illyrians and that Nesta should become High Lady of the Autumn Court (I can’t help my bias due to wanting her with Eris but I believe they would be equal rulers🤷🏼‍♀️) and that she would do an amazing job changing the barbaric laws and rights there.
Tumblr media
Nesta and Illyrians
As you guys know I love Nesta archeron but even as much as I love her I would not want her to be the Queen of Illyrians. Let’s assume as the stans claim illyrians are PoC. I really really for the love of the universe do not want a white person saving PoC or becoming the salvation of PoC. I’ve had enough of that. I don’t want Nesta a white person teaching illyrian woman who are PoC about feminism, about rights, etc. I want the illyrian woman to stand up by themselves for themselves. But knowing sjm, huh.

STILL LOVE MY FALLEN QUEEN!
Tumblr media
Nesta’s current condition - her rudeness, her cold behavior, alienation from the outside world (after ACOFAS’s events she’s totally cut off from the outside world) - is the only way to keep her emotions, to keep her inner rage under control. And in fact, Nesta is in deep depression. The core of depression is sadness, especially when this depression is combined with despondency, shame and hostility. And Nesta experiences each of these terrible feelings.
In the life of the whole family there have been global changes.
Firstly, the irreplaceable loss of a loved one – the unspeakable loss of the mother. For a person like Nesta, it was a real tragedy. A person needs to try to get through this and begin to live an ordinary life. They adapt quickly to hide their true feelings.
“My mother. Imperious and cold with her children, joyous and dazzling among the peerage who frequented our former estate, doting on my father—the one person whom she truly loved and respected. But she also had truly loved parties—so much so that she didn’t have time to do anything with me at all save contemplate how my budding abilities to sketch and paint might secure me a future husband. Had she lived long enough to see our wealth crumble, she would have been shattered by it—more so than my father. Perhaps it was a merciful thing that she died”.
It seems that right after the death of her mother Nesta had to build her inner walls to save and to protect herself in order to continue to live on, because most people after following shock and helplessness, have the strongest awareness of their profoundly personal rejection. Finally, there are accusations, disappointing attempts to escape from the realization of the guilt. These people are trying to shift responsibility for the loved one’s death onto anybody else. This person needs a “scapegoat”. Nesta’s father became her own scapegoat. Nesta believes that her father is responsible for the death of her mother. Then she started having these irrational bursts of anger at him- she believed that he could save their mother, or he was the cause of the death of their mother and directed her rage toward him.
“I wanted to see if he would ever try to do it himself, instead of carving those bits of wood. If he would actually go out and fight for us. I couldn’t take care of us, not the way you did. I hated you for that. But I hated him more. I still do.”
“Does he know?”
“He’s always known I hate him, even before we became poor. He let Mother die—he had a fleet of ships at his disposal to sail across the world for a cure, or he could have hired men to go into Prythian and beg them for help. But he let her waste away.”
“He loved her—he grieved for her.” I didn’t know what the truth was—perhaps both.
“He let her die. You would have gone to the ends of the earth to save your High Lord.”
And that’s quite interesting, because here Feyre admits «I didn’t know what the truth was—perhaps both», so Nesta’s true tragedy lies in the secret of her mother’s death. What was happening in the family at that moment? Where was their father and what did he do when their mother was dying?
“Her cowardice, selfishness. The rage that had consumed her, so that she wanted them all to starve, just to see if their useless father would bother to save them. And then little Feyre had stepped in, and Nesta had hated her for it, too—that Feyre had done the unthinkable and kept them alive”.
In fact, such emotional walls that Nesta built up are a very well-known psychological state, and these “walls” protect people from painful feelings and thoughts. But they also cause the appearance of their changed forms of behavior. Thus, we can say that such emotional walls have their pros and cons.
In the case of searching for a “scapegoat”, the feeling of anger does not disappear. This feeling is simply hidden. Anger remains with a person, deeply hidden, and exudes its poison. If this person spends the remaining days chasing scapegoats, then most of their life will be useless: they will experience constant bitterness, which will cripple their personality. In addition, such emotional walls prevent people from feeling the positive side of their existence: to get acquainted with new people, to enjoy life by itself.
One of the factors contributing to the growth of depression is rapid social change.
Nesta was not just from a wealthy family, she was almost a noblewoman, and the Archeron’s family had a real mansion. Feyre did not have time to get proper education, while older sisters had lessons of etiquette, music, and dance.
Surely Nesta already had her own idea and vision of her future, she repeatedly emphasizes the bad manners and lack of manners from other people, not only when they lived in the village among beggars, but also when she got to the Night Court. Nesta said that members of the Inner Circle knew nothing about real manners.
“Nesta had taken the loss of our fortune the hardest. She had quietly resented my father from the moment we’d fled our manor, even after that awful day one of the creditors had come to show just how displeased he was at the loss of his investment”.
“I looked at my sister, really looked at her, at this woman who couldn’t stomach the sycophants who now surrounded her, who had never spent a day in the forest but had gone into wolf territory … Who had shrouded the loss of our mother, then our downfall, in icy rage and bitterness, because the anger had been a lifeline, the cruelty a release. But she had cared—beneath it, she had cared, and perhaps loved more fiercely than I could comprehend, more deeply and loyally”.
It might sound strange, but when a person finds himself/herself in an unfamiliar environment for them - it’s extremely difficult to get used to it. This is a real stressful situation. Of course, Nesta and Elain, in some ways, were born with silver spoons in their mouths - they had expensive clothes, shoes, they never thought about what it would take to think about food. For them it was not a problem, and in one day everything collapsed.
“I’d been too young to learn more than the basics of manners and reading and writing when our family had fallen into misfortune, and she’d never let me forget it”.
I understand Nesta, and what she had to endure. From a rich mansion to move to a collapsing house, to lose all property. Hunger, despair and destruction - all were in a state of the endless stress.
Nesta is accused of ill-treatment of her younger sister (abuse and violence against Feyre), but Nesta has many reasons for this behavior - and Nesta’s cruel words do not mean that she does not like her younger sister. Otherwise, Nesta would never risk her life for her sister and other people.
Coming back to “abusive Nesta’s words” and her reaction in the book. Sorry, but I really do not agree with people, who think that Nesta is abuser in the book. It seems for me that people make it a bigger deal than it was or is it just popular to scream everywhere, how terrible Nesta is?
The real abusive characters are in “Lord of the Flies”.
We meet Nesta in chapter 2:
1.      “Feyre.” My father’s deep rumble came from the fire. His dark beard was neatly trimmed, his face spotless—like my sisters’. “What luck you had today—in bringing us such a feast.”
From beside my father, Nesta snorted. Not surprising. Any bit of praise for anyone—me, Elain, other villagers—usually resulted in her dismissal. And any word from our father usually resulted in her ridicule as well.”
Nesta hates the situation in which her family was dragged into, and she blames her father for everything. In this scene, Nesta snorted not because Feyre was commended for praise, but because Nesta would prefer to starve to very end than to set out Feyre to the forest. She knows how dangerous the forest is, how close the wall is. Nesta blames her father for inaction, because he does not stop Feyre. The inaction of their father is shocking and is totally unacceptable.
“But at least Nesta didn’t fill our heads with useless talk of regaining our wealth, like my father. No, she just spent whatever money I didn’t hide from her, and rarely bothered to acknowledge my father’s limping presence at all. Some days, I couldn’t tell which of us was the most wretched and bitter”.
Readers do not know, how exactly Nesta spent all money. My very guess that she was trying to pay off her father’s creditors.
2.      She picked at my cloak. “You stink like a pig covered in its own filth. Can’t you at least try to pretend that you’re not an ignorant peasant?”
“Take those disgusting clothes off.”
Nesta still considers her family to the nobility, so manners and appearance are of paramount importance to her. Nesta repeatedly emphasizes throughout the series, how difficult it was to move to the countryside.
Nesta does not want to offend her sister, she is rather disgusted with Feyre’s appearance, she does not want her sisters to look like an ignorant peasant.
I want to say it once again. STILL LOVE MY QUEEN AND STILL READY TO FIGHT FOR HER FREEDOM AND HER HAPPINESS TO THE VERY END! NESTA IS MY ETERNAL QUEEN!
