Ok I have THOUGHTS about one of Nora’s biggest moments of growth in the epilogue centering around food.

As some of you may know, I find it a disservice to her character when people make 90% of her personality pancakes or food or whatever. Because there is a reason she’s like that: she was an orphan. She has starved and she has wondered where her next meal will be coming from.

When she got to Beacon, we don’t know that having 3 meals a day was normal for her and Ren. During V4, the crew is basically back to being unsure where their next meal will come from, but they do have provisions. Even when they’re in Atlas, she still jumps at the first opportunity of food.

So the fact that now, Ren, who is the person who has likely made 90% of her meals in life, is offering to make dinner and she turns him DOWN?

I feel like this is significant in multiple ways. First off, obviously she’s becoming less dependent on him. Secondly, even though she’s going through so much turmoil - she’s starting to feel settled with herself, which in turn ties back to being less dependent on Ren. She doesn’t feel desperate in that way she has in the past. On top of that, she’s starting to trust more people around her - she might not always know where her next meal will come from, but having more people around her than just Ren, she feels like she can depend on others.

A secondary but simultaneous analysis! She understands how the settlements feel, and being in a position where she CAN help, she wants to do everything she can to stop others from feeling the way she always has.

AUGHHHH everything about Nora in the epilogue tore my heart out. Especially her beginning it with "Today we buried our friends" and the gasp at the end when she sees Team RWBY and Jaune

I am SO excited to see the eventual Team JNR reunion because I know it’s going to have me sobbing. Ren and Nora already had to deal with the loss of Pyrrha, and now they think that they’ve lost a second teammate, their leader no less. Half of their team is gone and it’s just them again, like when they were little. They literally told Jaune that they loved him just like they loved Pyrrha and that they didn’t want to lose him too, and then they (seemingly) did anyway

I'm not sure just how likely this is to happen, but with Emerald on the side of the heroes now, it's definitely possible that she'll become the Summer Maiden in Volume 10. I really hope she does because it would be soooo interesting, Cinder would most likely try to kill her to get the power for herself, so Emerald would finally have to confront the fact that she doesn't actually care about her and stand up for herself

It's so sad to think about the fact that Neo probably never knew how Roman died. His death was almost entirely his own fault, since he stopped to gloat out in the open while Grimm were swarming around him, but all that Neo knew was that he was fighting Ruby and then died, so she probably assumed she killed him during their battle. No wonder she was so hellbent on making her suffer

I was thinking about Cinder and Neo's relationship, because to me, it had always seemed intentionally ambiguous whether Neo truly considered her a potential partner or just saw her as a tool to help her get revenge. That was, until I thought back to this scene

Neo is a very smug and proud person. She wouldn't bow before Cinder if she didn't have some degree of care or respect for her. She's not doing it from fear either, because while she is shown to be afraid of her, she looks genuinely hurt when Cinder snatches it away without a word

In this moment, Neo was finally opening up to Cinder. Stealing something and delivering it to her probably reminded her of the jobs she'd done with Roman before, which made her begin to consider that maybe, just maybe, she could help fill the hole that his death had left. But when Cinder shows absolutely no gratitude, Neo realizes that she's nothing like Roman, and that she sees her as nothing more than an asset

I'd never been able to figure out the true meaning of the references to Cinder in Neo's mind during Volume 9, but I think I finally get it now. She really did consider her someone that she could rule beside at one point, and she regrets ever having thought that. Not just because Cinder betrayed her by knocking her into the Ever After, but because she also betrayed her by beginning to give her life a purpose beyond revenge, and then crushing it in an instant

Saw some art of Raven smoking a cigarette and it felt so natural and right. If there was one character in RWBY who smoked, it would absolutely be her
