Hard to not write a novel on how utterly wrong this is.

The decline in the UK economy is due to a culture brought about by risk averse governments. They are so cautious that they never make a decision on anything.

We get puffed chests about being world leaders in ‘AI’, and barely any deeper thought is given to how we actually do that. It’s always played for the media, and it’s always accompanied with the publication of a white paper that suggests all the various things they could try to do.

But then nothing comes of it. They do not want to take any action. They instead hope that a private company gets lucky and ‘becomes a unicorn’.

Except, due to being so risk averse, they never offer government contracts to any company that isn’t a giant corporate. So the smaller private companies can’t grow. So they can’t be ‘unicorns’ because they can’t get the attention of larger companies in the private sector.

But they need to keep up the illusion that they care about these smaller businesses, so use a mixture of government quangos that get SMEs to compete for £25K grants.

Not telling your kid they have a learning disability, chronic illness, mental illness etc. so they can “feel normal” actually does the opposite. They will not feel normal if they do not have the context to understand that their normal will be different from that of their peers.

btw now is the best time to keep boycotting. the israeli economy has never been weaker. don't stop the protests or the demands for divestment. keep supporting organisations like the Hind Rajab Foundation and the Accountability Archive. ofc don't stop boosting and donating to Palestinians as Gaza is still uninhabitable.

TikTok is now unbanned after not even 24 hours

the thing about disability is it really does sometimes boil down to "wow i wish i could do that" and then you can't. and it sucks.

Trump is probably going to remove the TikTok ban shortly after his inauguration and secure a chunk of the youth vote.

My two boys are so star-crossed not even the camera can put them in the same frame together.

Cap couldn't even cradle Havers' face while he was dying and Havers had to redirect him to holding a stick instead in case someone got suspicious. And 80 years later Cap is still clutching that stick like its Havers' face.
