part of the joy of having a fetish that's still somewhat outside of the mainstream (if you disagree then xkcd geologists dot png) but fairly popular is that complaining about a trope being too common in your semi-obscure pornography is really funny

Rage, because rage makes people act out irrationally, creating conflict, which is story. Rage is also the most compelling because there is always another emotion behind the rage fueling it, which could be any and everything else on the list.
(Note: the difference between guilt and shame is that ‘guilt’ focuses on specific acts or behaviors, while ‘shame’ involves the overall sense of self.)

the problem with addiction is not that it's pleasurable. it's not "having too much fun" disease. it's not even a requirement for addiction that you have fun at any point in the process at all and to be honest it is incredibly common that no pleasure is gained from substance use. imagining that addiction is about pleasure does two things: 1) demonises feeling good (there is nothing wrong with wanting to be happy/comfortable/etc), and 2) frames addicts as people who Like Having Fun Too Much. it's simply not useful to frame things this way as well as just fundamentally not being true

I want you to remember:
The fascists hate you too and they just will pretend otherwise until after they've killed the rest of us, before they turn on you.

Lines of thought that seem Normal but are actually rooted in extreme puritanism:
-Seeing the nude human body is inherently traumatic -Sex scenes in art are pointless -Wearing kink-related clothing in public is the similar to performing a sex scene in front of unwilling participants -Depicting female characters expressing sexuality is always degrading -People's sexual fantasies are always an endorsement of the behavior they want to see in real life -Sex work is more traumatic and coercive than other types of work The goal is to treat sex as just another thing people do. That is a much healthier attitude than hiding it! It's not uniquely traumatic, it's not weird to talk about it or include it in society.

So Buck treats the 118 like a cult follower treats a cult; they are his everything, he has nothing outside of them, he cannot function without them. The reason he needs friends and connections outside of the firehouse are exactly because of this issue the episode is illustrating: he has no one to fall back on if something happens to them, apart from his sister, who will also need support from others - and has Josh and Linda to provide that, and Athena, who has her children - children who coincidentally show up for the first time in a while in this episode to remind the viewer they exist.
That's why Eddie isn't in the episode: to create that separation from the cult of firefighting in Buck's mind. He will have Eddie even if he stops being in the cult/being a firefighter.
You can complain about Eddie not being here sure, but you need to look at the long term reasoning and the character arc they're creating for Buck, the one singled out and on the outside.

online fandom is so fun because we’ll be talking about very serious character moments and analyzing them and stuff and there will be a lull in the discussion and someone will be like “and then they fuck about it” and then we’re all like yeah and then they fuck about it

Not a doctor but if Chim has it and is breathing it out and cuts her open it has a chance of him breathing into the wound.
However if it's in the air she's exposed anyway and it doesn't matter if Chim does it or not, so I suppose that's a small plot hole.
how is chimney supposed to infect hen with a virus that has not incubated yet (if he's even caught it) by using a scalpel?

this is such a profoundly stupid thing to be mad about but. i periodically think about how banksy made one of my single favorite pieces of art of all time, and everything else he's ever done has sucked. man, how did you nail it once

Ghosts France, for anyone who is interested. There’s a folder with English subtitles as well.
Anyone tech savvy can hopefully marry the two together and then be able to watch and understand (if they aren’t fluent in French)
Also, if you get a message that you can’t access the folder, it’s probably because it’s been accessed too much in a short time span, so try again later.
edit: go here if you want the drive with the subtitles already attached:
