Tumblr pisses me off because while gender may be pretty well understood in its diversity here, its not the same out there. A lot of people make these posts, "what you should NEVER say/ask someone who is not cisgender" and go "ok the post has been made, anyone who says any of this is an asshole" I was trying to explain gender to my boyfriend. He was willing to listen, and yes, he DID ask a lot of ignorant "problematic" questions, but if its something youve NEVER heard of, how the fuck would you know what isnt ok? A lot of people just dont understand. They have an immensely difficult time understanding it. But most of all, they just dont know how it FEELS, so how would they know they struck a nerve? On tumblr, you are sheltered. You dont experience this in the same way online. Out there you will not have tons of people who got your back and will help you out.
