The affected beaches are Centerport Yacht Club Beach, Valley Grove Beach, and Community Association Beach. According to the Health Commissioner of Suffolk County, Dr. James Tomarken, swimming in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as eyes, ears, nose and, throat infections.
