Exploring The Triangle
The Triangle, located in the northern region of North Carolina around Raleigh, earned its name from being situated in the center of three prominent universities: UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, and Duke. This area is among the many burgeoning regions of North Carolina. Its proximity to Durham and Raleigh offers numerous opportunities for growth, making it an attractive destination for businesses. With the presence of university towns in the area, a plethora of fun activities are readily available. Let's not forget the State Fair, a highly popular yearly event enjoyed by many! While my experience in the Triangle might not be as in-depth as others', the region is widely recognized and regarded as a very pleasant place.

Traveling Boone
Boone is one of the many natural beauties in the state of North Carolina. Located in the heart of the NC Smoky mountains, Boone is one of the bigger and more well known towns in the NC mountains. Home to Appalachian State University, a few of the local ski resorts, and Tweetsie railroad, this town has lots to see and do! The town is a peaceful display of what the NC mountains have to offer. As a kid, I used to travel to Boone often and I have very fond memories of fishing for trout with my father, hiking the local mountains, gem mining, and much more. If you are looking for a quiet get away with the upside of always finding a fun activity to do, Boone is the place for you.

Carowinds
The second North Carolina location I will be focusing on this week is Carowinds. Located on the border between South Carolina and North Carolina just below Charlotte. Carowinds is one of the biggest theme parks in the area. Boasting multiple massive roller coasters, a water park, and many other rides/ attractions. The park itself is a great place to visit for anyone looking for a good theme park trip. On top of that each year around halloween they transform the park into what they call Scarowinds which basically becomes a park wide haunted house with the ability to enjoy all of the rides. For anyone who doesn’t like being jump scared you can purchase a “don’t scare me” necklace that you can wear in the park. Overall a fantastic place to visit.

Ocean Isle Beach
The North Carolina location I will focus on this week is Ocean Isle beach. Since I was a little kid I’ve been going to Ocean Isle, and I can recall countless memories, fishing stories, and friendships I’ve gained from my trips there. A typically calm beach unless you go during a major holiday… The 4th of July. It is a very calm and peaceful place. Everyone is very welcoming, and you can always find something to do. You can go fishing on the pier, enjoy some good local food, rent a boat from the marina, enjoy the beaches, enjoy some golf or put put, and explore the marsh. Overall this is one of the more popular beaches amongst local North Carolinians, and although not in the outer banks itself, it is still a very great vacation destination.

The US National White Water Center
The white water center is home to a variety of thrilling activities: white water rafting, kayaking, hiking, zip lining, biking, rock climbing, and more. It is one of, if not the only man-made white water centers in the nation. There are many activities that are family friendly so that people of all ages and sizes can enjoy a day at the Whitewater Center. In my experience, it is always fun to make a full day out of it! My favorite activity is the white water rafting, where groups of individuals partake on a wild journey through their two water courses… Be careful you don't fall off the raft! A close second to rafting, is the rock climbing pool, where once you get to the top, you can fall backwards into a giant pool. Enjoy a day full of excitement at the Whitewater center in North Carolina.

Exploring Grandfather Mountain
Today's North Carolina location I would like to introduce to you all to is Grandfather Mountain. It’s name came to be due to the rock’s resemblance to the profile of an elderly man looking off into the mountain landscape. While on the mountain, you will find a number of very cool must-see locations. The first popular favorite is the mile high swinging bridge. This is often the place most people take their pictures while on the mountain and one of many places to get the opportunity to enjoy the view. The second popular location to see is the site of an infamous plane crash towards the top of the mountains off of one of the trails. Unfortunately, the pilot did pass away in the crash, and the site is a bit sombering when you see it, yet it is still a very unique location to see while on the hike. The hike itself is of a moderately hard level in my opinion-there are even ladders that you must climb to get to the top, so that can be challenging for some. Overall, it is a fantastic place to visit and is an amazing mountain to hike in North Carolina.

The Lake Norman Experience
The second location I would Like to introduce to you all today is Lake Norman, also located just outside of Charlotte. Since it is the biggest lake in North Carolina, it has a little something for everyone. The fishing is great, the water is nice, you can almost always find people enjoying a relaxing boat ride, and everyone is just there to have a good time. It is definitely one of the more crowded lakes as almost the entire lake has houses located on its shoreline. I used to love traveling out there with friends and family to explore the islands and water ski. So again, if you ever get the opportunity, I highly recommend it.

Crowders Mountain Hiking
Hello, everyone. Today I am going to talk a little about another fantastic place to visit: Crowders Mountain. Located just a few minutes drive to the best of Charlotte, Crowders Mountain offers an opportunity for a fun experience for all. It has a few different trails of all different lengths and intensities so that you can count on there being a trail for all levels of hikers. The top of the mountain is probably the most challenging portion for most of the trails as you will need to climb some steps and maybe a few rocks.
I have had the opportunity to hike Crowders multiple times and I can say it has been enjoyable for me each time regardless of the weather, short of a severe storm. The view at top is truly something to see as it overlooks downtown Charlotte and Lake Norman. If you ever find yourself with the opportunity to go, I highly recommend it.

Cape Lookout
The first place I will be reviewing is Cape Lookout, NC. A lesser known beach destination amongst most locals it is not what most would expect out of a typical North Carolina beach as the entire island is a national park. Ever seen pictures or videos online of people driving their cars on a vast deserted beach or camping out of their cars on the beach? Well this place is exactly that. Short of the ranger station, a few camping cabins, the old lighthouse, and from what I was told an abandoned small town towards the northern end of the island, the entire beach is about as close to undeveloped as you can get.
I had the opportunity to go this past summer with a few friends. We spent a few weeks doing our research on what we needed, and how exactly to prepare our cars for beach driving. (disclaimer if you plan to go please do some research on driving on sand. If you don’t and get stuck, I was also told somewhere out there on the internet is a community of frequent visitors who will thoroughly enjoy your mistake through sharing pictures online.) We went for a few days and made some amazing memories. There is no light pollution so you can actually see the milky way on a clear night, the ocean water is almost blue, the wildlife is evident everywhere you look, and the fishing is amazing.
Overall this place is amazing especially for the price. You will need to reserve a ferry spot and get a license to drive your car out there, and you may also need to invest in some new camping gear. If you do your research and plan accordingly with weather in mind, I do not doubt you will love your experience, I am already planning on returning this summer again…. BRING BUG SPRAY!

Intro to the Blog
Hello everyone, just a short introduction as to what this blog account is meant to be. I’m a born and raised local resident of North Carolina and I want to use this blog as a way to review and share with you what North Carolina has to offer. Although I may be a little biased, I truly believe North Carolina has so much to offer through its cities, beaches, mountains, and hidden gems. I will try to be as honest in my experiences with these places as I can, and hopefully share the best and maybe the not so great parts of every location.
