My Thoughts on Windows 10 Sun Valley
The more rounded design language is something that Windows has been missing for years, ever since the release of Windows 8. Especially now, when user interfaces are becoming more flat, rounded, and simple. Another factor in this redesign is competing with the aesthetic of MacOS Big Sur. Something comparable to this update’s design language is that of Windows 10X, Microsoft’s answer to ChromeOS. The context menus in Sun Valley are something that has been in dire need of an update ever since Windows 8. They’ve looked virtually the same since that update, and the dark mode context menus leave much to be desired visually. File Explorer. It’s been something that has needed attention. Such attention would be tabs. Tabs would greatly increase the productivity of File Explorer. Instead of having multiple windows of the application open at once, cluttering up the screen, you could just as easily have all those windows condensed into one. Would be so much cleaner, and makes so much more sense. The next topic would be the new battery usage charts rumored to be coming to Windows 10 with this update. I can’t really say much on these, because I’m a strict PC user, and try to stray away from using laptops. But if you are a Windows laptop user, these new charts will give you a new way to see how you’ve been using your battery, or if there are any battery-draining applications running in the background. Super useful tidbit. That pretty much concludes my thoughts on Sun Valley. Goodbye for now.
