Just Roommates: A master vampire and his thrall (a vampire hunter waiting for an opportunity to destroy him).

Assignment for the art program I'm part of. We studied a (deceased) artist for the past four months and used their technique/ideas to make an inspired piece. No prizes for guessing who my master artist was 😅

Animal studies from this week.. Trying different construction methods and media to analyse and present the subject with more clarity.

Tiny notes:

Sheep are are actually super cute with their cheeky bums and docked tails. And they walk with a hobble because of how short their femurs are (?)

Elephant shrews are among the most ridiculous animals I've ever seen. Somehow they're more closely related to elephants than they are to rodents. It's mind boggling to me how an animal with its proportions exists.

Horses have defined musculature that are visible on short haired breeds, which make them really nice anatomical subjects to study. They also have some really nice gesture that make them an awesome subject to draw.

My completed submission for assignment v: "Exploring Myth Through Artistic Fundamentals"

"Don't look back" is my take on the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. I wanted to make an illustration that was both fun to draw and to look at. Here, I challenged myself to push storytelling through body language and shape design. Hades and Eurydice's figures are inspired by Bernini's "The Abduction of Proserpina" sculpture.

Not pictured here is Cerberus, who unfortunately didn't make the jump from sketch to finished illustration:
