Thinking about Adam & Serafina in 15x17, about how an angel kept a human alive for thousands of years so that he could get revenge on his father, how she kept him alive because she loved him and hoped that getting revenge would help him to heal, even though we're told that it rarely does in 11x19 The Chitters, when Cesar is also trying to support Jesse on his revenge quest.

Thinking about how the angel was never supposed to be the one that the human fell in love with, about how Chuck demanded that his children lived their lives according to his own unrealistic expectations of them, and got angry with them when they wanted something different for themselves. Thinking about how Adam, the eldest human son, thought at first that he deserved the treatment for having different wants to his father.

Thinking about John telling Dean in 14x13 that he always wanted him to have a family, how Dean counters that he has a family, how Cas was promoted to a seraph in S5, how Adam would be dead without Serafina, about how he just wouldn't have a way to physically go on without the angel that loves him, thinking about 13x05 and 15x20 and how Dea-- *gunshots*

Everyone but Dean thinking Cas is Just Okay Looking is funny and all except that he's canonically described by everyone from Random Christian Mom #3 to the King of Hell as sexy, dreamy, etc. A woman found him wandering naked by a river and said That's Husband Material. Amelia Novak let that face through her front door after he ditched her and their kid for over a year. He led half of Heaven in a rebellion on a scale only thee Devil himself had ever managed before. He's so hot he made Meg switch sides. Even after his Third Epic Fuckup most of the angels were down to follow him. The scribe of god took one look at him and said if Dean is God's main character, You are Mine, I will kill him to give you a Tragic Backstory.

Only Amara, terminal Deangirl and Sam, terminally heterosexual, have ever thought Castiel was anything less than the hottest motherfucker in the garrison.

19 years, on and off. Started watching the week after the Pilot aired. Took a break mid-S9, partly because I was busy buying my first house and partly because I was starting to feel like I was in an abusive relationship with the way the Cas & LGBTQ+ fans were treated in S7 & S9 in particular.

Then Charlie's death hit and, even avoiding spoilers and not knowing exactly what happened, I could feel the fury from space. I always meant to get back into it, but that killed any desire for it whatsoever. Girded my loins to be there for the final season, and ended up marathoning 14 seasons in 2019. Insane experience, don't think I've recovered yet. Now the Winchester Derangement Syndrome is worse than ever :(

Oh no though, this could be onto something.

Remember when Cas told Claire that he could sense longing. I always kind of figured that he might not have sensed anything from Dean because Dean was keeping it all locked up too tight, whenever Cas was around to sense it at least. But what if it's not prayers that Chuck has been blocking? What if the reason why Cas thinks that Dean doesn't reciprocate is because he hasn't felt any longing from him?

You know those plots where a lover writes their would-be lover all these wonderful, hopeful, revealing letters and the villain stashes them elsewhere or tosses them in the fire?

I love the concept that Chuck works to do pretty much the same thing... but with intercepting Dean's prayers.

truly my fandom fun is rewatching spn (the patient needs source material to live!) and writing and reading meta and analysis, and engaging with actual canon characterizations and arcs over diluted fanon, and making fanworks, and appreciating the creative fanworks of others. that's what makes fandom fun for me 🥰
