Still, Fertility and Symbolism

Ok, this is going to be a bit out there (is there anything I write that isn’t?) but I watched the deleted scene in Still and could not for the life of me figure out the purpose of it in the first place. It seemed really random. So because I have no life I’m a tenacious fangirl I  tried to see what I could tie it to and what would possess the writers to have stuck that into the script. This isn’t clever, just a little observation.
