Once more, that warrior laughed, but instead of introducing himself, he grinned at her, a wicked glint in his eyes.
“I carried many names throughout my life. Wherever I went, people would give me another one. ‘Rat’, or 'Slave’ are among the oldest. Some called me 'Rebel’, others 'Liberator’ and one kind soul once even named me her 'Champion.”
Most of these names, he said with little care, but his smile turned warm again, as he uttered the word 'Champion’. Yet, in the end he shrugged, spreading his arms in an open gesture.
“But of those, remembering me by any of these names, not one is left. And the tales telling of the man, I used to be, have long since forgotten. Nowadays only my blade carries a name of meaning anymore. So, why don’t you just pick a name for me instead. One that I shall be known by, as I fight under your banner.”
Her brown eyes observed the strange, older elf. For some reason, she didn’t even dare to ask after all this titles. Maybe at some point, when they got to know each other better. For now his promise was enough to her and another skilled sword at their side would benefit the Inquisition.
She made a thoughtful gesture. Giving him a name? That was new... And then her mind wandered to all the things he said and what he told her about his believes..
“Dhru is the elvhen word for ‘Faith’. It’s short and easy to remember. I think that words suits you the best.”

“… It’s been years, Nevia. “ - he said, his expression dropping when she said he shouldn’t give up. But there was nothing the Inquisition could do when it was at its peak, let alone now when there was a handful of them left.
Daime fell silent for a bit, as his thoughts trailed off towards Naeth. Was she even alive? He could only hope for the best. It was then that Nevia she thought he liked working with Leliana. “ I…. I’ve learned a lot from the spymaster…” - he said frowning, - “….. But, do you know what I did for the Inquisition? ” He tensed a bit - the answer to that was obviously “no”. He felt somewhat foolish for asking that sort of question… But if… just IF the answer was “yes”, then what kind of person did she think he was?
Nevia decided to drop the subject of Daime’s sister. She wanted to tell him, that he shouldn’t lose up, that he should keep fighting, but who was she to tell him that? She, who had given up mostly herself. “To be honest with you, Daime, I do not know, what you did for the Inquisition... and if you don’t wish to remain here, I will not stop you.”
There really wasn’t much to do right now, while they tried to keep up their network of sources. Which was hard, since she didn’t carry any title anymore, was clanless and basically stuck here at Skyhold.
“But.. I would rather have you around here.”, she confessed and looked up at him.
The old, the new, the cocoa...

The large elf wore a hood of his own, along with a black traveling cloak over his armor. It hid his more alien features, the large ears and eyes.
Still, he stopped when he sensed someone familiar, the one he was searching for.
“It took a lot of effort to find you. I am glad you are safe.”
“If you found me, I wasn’t careful enough, it seems.”, she replied with a skeptical glance towards the other elf. Nowadays, Nevia was hiding as best, as she could from everyone else. After loosing her arm, Inquisition disbanded, her name didn’t carry any weight anymore.
“Safe is a big word for my current situation, Lethallin.”

Supergirl: Livewire
“There was a time when I felt like a shadow of a person” “Thought I’d return this to you” “I don’t like being followed” “If someone’s targeting one of my assets, I want to know who it is” “We’ll handle this” “I hope you’re right” “Please don’t yell at me, this isn’t my job” "I didn’t tell you about it because I knew you would have this reaction” “I don’t ask for very much” "Get me a salad for lunch. I don’t care what kind as long as it has a cheeseburger on top” “What do you want?” "I love it” “I didn’t know you had it in you” "What are you doing here?” “Am I not allowed to miss you?“ “Well, you always wanted more responsibility” "I came here for you” "That sounds like a woman who knows what she wants” "How is that even possible?” “You’re totally not a distraction” "Why would someone plant a bomb in that building? What was in there?” “She’s gorgeous, she’s smart, smells nice” "What’s that noise?” “Wait, are you trying to tell me that you’re not there yet?“ “I actually really liked school” "Not that I was a nerd or anything” "And you didn’t think to share that information with us?” “I prefer not to rely on the government to solve my problems” “Any idea who’s targeting you?” “I guess now we know who’s the brains of the outfit” “Wow, she does sound pretty cool” “I didn’t say she was pretty” "Do you think she’s pretty?” “Why do you mistrust the government so much?” “And here I thought we had something special” “I work for the government, because I believe there’s no higher calling than helping others” “I feel the same way” "The world needs a new kind of hero” "You really don’t trust anyone, do you?” “I’ve never met anyone worth trusting” "Trust me, I know which wire to cut” "They are not toys. They are adult collectibles” "That was some fall you took” "Are you hungry for some real food?” “I don’t know what I would do without you” “I’ve been a little frazzled” "How am I ever gonna compete with her?” “Why are you fighting me?“ “I don’t put much faith in the government’s idea of protection” “I read your file” “She still loves you” “Sounds like you could use some help” “Are you sure you’re up for this?” “You know, maybe it’s better for us just to find other people” “This new life looks good on you” “You know, I want what’s best for you” "I can’t be in two places at once!” “I’m starting to think you have a thing for me” “There’s always hope” “Just take cover” “I don’t understand how you juggle it all” “I would never barter a child’s life” “You chose to save a hundred people on that train, instead of thousands at the airport” “For the record, I care about everyone” “This isn’t over” “Finally, something we can agree on” “The fun is just beginning"

“ Good…” - he chuckled quietly, - “ Such a thing should be banned altogether… And… I’ll stay while you need me to. I might have failed at finding my sister, but at least I can help a friend. “ He still had feelings for her… But the fact that they’d never be together as a couple didn’t mean that he could just stop caring for her. After all, she never lied and was up front about the fact that she only thought of him as a friend…. Daime held back a sigh. Oh well, he wasn’t exactly the lovable type and friends were hard to come by. Perhaps one day his fortune would change… And Nevia.. Well, he would still care for her regardless of where the fates took them. Some things were not meant to change. “….I guess that makes my time here worth something.”
“You may still find your sister, Daime. You shouldn’t give up. I always offered you the resources of the Inquisition. It’s not like we can do much, until Solas does his next move... We don’t have much left to defend, at the moment.”
Nevia sighed once more, looking down at her feet. She often felt useless here at Skyhold. Elves were vanishing all over the land and no one could make out, where they went off to. They were just.. gone.. Maybe Daime’s sister was one of them?
“Worth something? I always thought, you liked working with Leliana?”

“She cared for all children of the Maker, not just her own people”, the old warrior corrected her gently, but a warm glint had settled in his eyes, as if just thinking of his Lady, set his heart alight with fondness. Following her gaze, he took in the people, that chose to follow this alleged Herald of his Lady: Humans, elves, even dwarfs and horned people, he had never seen in his life before. A deep nostalgia seized his heart and for a moment, he felt, as if he was there again, sitting among the lighted fires, equal between equals, men twice his size laughing with him and Her Radiance filling the dark night with song and hope.
“It is well”, he suddenly said and in his voice laid a conviction, that allowed no doubt.
“Her legacy has long since forgotten by the children of her army. But I see the fruits of her promises grow regardless.”
Smiling at the Inquisitor, the old warrior nodded, as if she had just passed a solemn test of worth.
“I have never been much a man of Faith. The Maker, the Creators, neither matter to me. But I have learned that sometimes, there is someone born, who is worth to have faith in. My blade… Glandivalis and I, will fight with you, Herald of Her Radiance.”
She smiled at the other elf. A careing smile full of warmth. Nevia somehow liked this weird man. His words nearly made her blush. “You say, you never been a man of much faith, but here you are, praising your lady with bright words.” It was nearly spoken in a teasing manner, since she was still smirking.
“You are welcome here, like everyone else, who wants to help against the growing danger in our world.” She reached out and gave his shoulder a firm squeeze. “But before I say much else, I would rather have you introduce yourself to me properly. And calling me ‘Nevia’ is enough. I don’t like being adressed by my title from people, I work with.”

She made a highly amused face, before grabbing Darcia’s hand and pointed on one of the mirrors, they hadn’t passed yet. “Let’s try this one. I just hope, we don’t land in the deep roads again.. I hate the deep roads...”
“Do you think we’re lost?”
Nevia looked actually lost, as she stood on a crossing, surrounded by eluvians. “I guess, we are… Any idea where to go through now?”

Nevia made a thoughtful face and let his words sink in. She wasn’t sure, who this strange man was. He must be one of those city elves, who were weirdly fond of the chantry. “Then your lady was far more human, than the chantry tries to make us believe, since they paint her as a godly prophet. What I see, is a woman, who cared for her people and tried to protect them from the crazy vints...”
“The fact is, that the chantry uses her name to make people follow it’s cause. I don’t understand the teachings of the Maker, I follow my own gods. But I understand the urge to fight for and protect, what we care the most for and to banish the darkness from our lands.” She looked out onto their surroundings. “It doesn’t matter if you believe in the Maker, the elvhen pantheon or the stone. It’s all the same to me. I seek to help us all. Not only a certain group... I.. I don’t know, why I am telling you all this. I apologize.”
Her Herald.
“The Chantry is convinced, that the mark on my hand is a blessing of Andraste and that she was the woman, who dragged me out of the fade. I don’t believe this, but the people hardly care about it. This title is a tool, which I can use to help the people in need. I am not very fond of the chantry, I apologize.”
Instead of taking offense to her words, the old warrior laughed heartily, the scarred skin around his eyes crinkling with delight.
“And what… if I told you, that our Lady likely would have shared your sentiment?”
There was a tone to his voice, that made his words seem oddly sharp, like a wire trap blinking in the sunlight, barely visible among the high grass. It was testament to dangerous knowledge, this man might possess.
“Either way, Herald. If you do her biding in this world, you are as much deserving of your title, as if she herself had come down and laid her sword on your shoulder. Do no err by thinking, carrying her names means standing for the chantry’s interest. Our Lady cared for all children of the Maker and sought only to help those, who suffered alone in the darkness.”

Nevia sat on a rock outside of the crossroads in the Hinterlands. She was hidden underneath a large hood of her cloak, wrapped around her shoulders. She hid the remainings of her arm under it.
She only lifted her gaze when someone passed by closely and she felt eyes on her. Nevia narrowed hers and stared back. “What?”, was everything she said.

“Herald… of Andraste? Her name gets thrown about quite carelessly these days. What is it, that makes them think, yours is of her making? What is your thought on the title, you have been entrusted with?”

daimeshadows:
“ … Perhaps…” - replied Daime, a small smile touching his lips, - “ I can occasionally plot, you know…” Nevia probably didn’t think so, but that was what actually made making this statement so fun to make. He tried holding back from smiling too broadly. But then it was how she thanked him that caught Daime off guard. After a moment of hesitation, he put his arms around her shoulders. “ …. well… You can always count on me to make you cocoa… or stab someone… As long as you don’t need me to give a speech or bake, I’m here for you. ”
She looked down onto her hands and smiled, maybe even a bit shyly. “I appreciate both things... But you know that already, I hope. I am glad you stayed.. after everything..” She didn’t want to speak it out loud, but there had been a lot of tension between her and Daime, though they seemed to recovered from that.. or she had..
Nevia didn’t know, what she would do without him, if she was honest with herself.
“No speeches, don’t worry... I hate speeches..” She snickered quietly and leaned back against him, enjoying the moment of peace, even if it might was just brief.
The old, the new, the cocoa...
