he brought that cozy cafe smell and aura to your life, helping you settle in a safe and comfortable way you previously thought impossible.

“what are you thinking about?” beomgyu smiles from behind his cup, taking a sip of the hot coffee he ordered not too long ago.

you place yours back on the table you two were sitting at, “nothing, really… but if i was being completely honest— you.”

his eyes grow bigger, filling with love and sparkling with curiosity, “me?”

“yeah,” nods you. “just how much you really helped me.. how much you remind me of this place really.”

“we met here, baby. of course i’d remind you of this cafe,” beomgyu laughs a bit, face crickling up.

“i know,” a smile appears on your face. “you’re just... safe to be around. does that even make sense? i’ve never felt that way about anyone. you make it easy to be myself and be vulnerable. it’s something i’ve found hard to do in the past.”

a hand suddenly comes to caress your cheek, thumb rubbing against your skin like it’s trying to remember every little detail, “you have no idea how much i feel the same about you.”

your world stops, freezing in a time where it’s just you and your boyfriend touching your face. both sets of eyes are looking into each other, filled with admiration towards the other. neither of you move or say anything for what seems like hours.

that is until he gives you a smile, patting your cheek with his pointer finger a couple of times, “drink your coffee or it’ll get cold.”

“no,” you whisper once the warm touch disappears. without a second thought, your hand grips his wrist, forcing his touch to return back to it’s rightful place. “i want to be in the moment… please, beom.”

he gives you a soft smile and nods, moving closer to you. the gentle rub of his thumb returns after a few seconds, giving the comfort that you needed. “you make me want to drop everything so that i could do this with you forever.”

“what’s stopping that?” you mumble, face leaning into his touch a bit more as he laughs.

“work.”

a simple statement, but carries a heavy load on the both of you. it was all he needed to remind you just how stressful his life could be. but instead of fighting back with a playful manner that you usually would, you close your eyes and breathe in the scent of his touch.

he finds solace and safety in you, knowing that when he comes home after a stressful day, you wouldn’t press as many demands on him like his work would. surrounding himself with the peace of you grounds him and reassures him sometimes that he does enjoy his work— he just needed a break.

meanwhile you find comfort and safety in him. you haven’t been in a relationship that has worked in your favor until you met beomgyu. his words of affirmations calming your insecurities and they reassure you that you are indeed loved and not being taken advantage of in the slightest.

beomgyu tests the waters after a while and nudges your hand with his free one towards your coffee cup, “finish up so we can go home, yeah? we can cuddle all you want then.”

Don’t get me wrong: If those help you with your writing, more power to you! Do what works for you. But I tend to discover all the little details of a character while writing.
