TWIN BOYS SHOOT/African Inspired.
I shot two Twin boys for my album cover. Initially I had a million ideas of how I would like the shoot to go. the concept I had was to use multiple locations. So I took them to the farm in the hopes that the wheat would have grown, but it was still quite low. I could only have the boys for one day, so that was really hard for me. A lot of my ideas had to be Zoned into one.

African Landscape/Inspired by Swamp River.
This is a river that I’m use to taking walks on and it reminds me of Africa in a way. With the mud layers with grass and the trees that go into the distance.

REFERENCE DISCOVERY, Primary Research/BAKA PYGMIES - THE FOREST SWALLOWS YOU (CAMEROON)
- Bush Forest
This is a bush I found where I live and it reminded me of a little forest, I could feel the sense of Africa within the picture and it really struck me at first glance. It reminded me of the research that I had found earlier of the photographer that had a spiral image of African trees.

Artist Research/ Pieter Hugo,1994
Hugo’s work is a huge inspiration in it’s simplicity. The focus on the subject and the simple surroundings. I like the element of nature within the shot and like Ruud Van Empel’s work it has been an inspiration for my ideas for live project and the concept that I hope to achieve.

Jason Evans - Four works from Strictly,1991
http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artists/jason-evans-3246
I found Jason Evans Work in a book called “Looking in” Photographic portraits by Maud Sulter and Chan-hyo bae. The work “ I believe that “Four works from strictly.” was a contrast in reflecting style in a generic setting. The images of individuality an the chosen subjects being black spoke volumes of the idea of Portraits that I would like to take for live brief. It showed not only the presence of blacks within the uk, but it also showed the style that defines an individual and how similar surrounding can reflect elements of the clothing.
The idea that the young black men were dressed as country gents is a suggestion of a different culture, I would think of country gents as american, so that contrast sparks quite an interest.

MOVING WALLS 14more exhibits Intended Consequences: Genocide Mothers, Victims of Rapemore collections Jonathan Torgovnik
Torogovnik picture is not a representation of how I want my work to be seen. The only reason that I chose this images was because of the film affect and the staged position of the mother and daughter. I would like to explore the use of film later on in my career. I recently done a project in Zambia and the use of the film affect would have been nice. So I’m not sure whether I should apply this picture affect to my live pictures.

Research/BAKA PYGMIES - THE FOREST SWALLOWS YOU (CAMEROON) African Rainforest & Pygmy Peoples.
http://www.pygmies.org/rainforest-pygmies/photo-gallery.php?photo=69
This was a really interesting images of African landscape. It reminds me of a fish eye lense, I thought it is pretty unique way of looking at landscape and portrait. It captures a sense of interest within the surrounding from and you can see that the little boy within the picture is of central focus at the bottom but the trees have an captivating spin.
The website I found this image on has introduced sound to the website, I thought that was so different and it gave the view a deeper sense of the environment, but also it makes the viewer feel as though they are in the african experience.
I somewhat wish I found this website when I was exploring the direction of my FMP, but I know within my main website that I will take this idea and reflect it in this live project brief.

BRING AFRICA TO BRITISH LANDSCAPE.
I was interested in the similarities of British nature and African landscape. Coming from a cultural background it was of great interest that I document african sound visual through the use of nature. I wanted to capture Africa through the subjects that i will choose and dress them in african attire in an english setting. Some might argue that I should have taken images in Africa, but I believe that it just wouldn’t have been as powerful. I’ll be creating a series of portraits and landscapes. Using a person or two that are of an african background to symbolise an african element.
